Everyone was at all times friendly and quietly efficient. I was assessed via up to five impressive machines on the working day following my initial approach to the clinic. I had to approach the Clinic following the retirement of the consultant whom I had originally engaged, and who had agreed with my optician that I was ready for surgery. The initial examination at the Clinic was most impressive, and when Mr Chan met me shortly thereafter he was clearly able to make a quick assessment. He explained to me that the operation would be challenging, given the damaged condition of my eye, but he agreed with my decision to ask him to proceed. The pamphlets provided enabled me to have a good understanding of the nature of a cataract and the usual course of treatment before and after the operation. On the day of the procedure I approached without misgivings, and following a full discussion with a senior nurse who sought fuller details of my medical history, and then the application of anaesthetics by the anaesthetist, I proceeded to the operating theatre. It was good and very reassuring to be able to feel the area round my eye go numb in advance of entering the theatre. The operation was for me comfortable, and I enjoyed the soft verbal exchanges between Mr Chan and his staff, and the gentle and futuristic sounds of the surgical equipment. Afterwards, I have felt no discomfort from the after effects, and the post operation advice from another nurse has been very clear and helpful. And I am delighted with the outcome. After having been in effect virtually blind in my right eye, my vision is now clear, bright and colourful. Very much better that these current aspects of by “good” left eye! Well done everyone! Mr Wing Chan

Mr Chan was authoritative, and quietly impressive. He chose his words carefully, and pointed out to me that, given the damage sustained by my right eye in childhood, the operation would not be straightforward, and he explained ttat the operation might not be a total success. This is clear also from the terms of his letter to my GP. Nevertheless, I was able to approach the operation with confidence, albeit aware of the possibility of less than complete success, and the possible need for follow-up surgery. On the day, following attention from a senior nurse, and attention from the anaesthetist, it was very reassuring when I entered the operation theatre, to see him there, ready for action. We had a short friendly exchange, and off we went! The procedure was longer that I had anticipated, but perfectly comfortable and with no evidence of stress within the team. I could hear soft and curt verbal exchanges, and no suggestion of concern. After the operation I thanked him and his team which he graciously acknowledged. When we meet again for the review I hope he will give me a verbal account of his thoughts and decisions during the process. He had clearly been pleased with the outcome. John N

Absolutely brilliant service all round, from the appointments system to the Eye Specialist consultation. Imagine what it would be like if we had a strong economy with enough money to properly fund the NHS, and refurbish the RBH : ) The present long waiting times is nobody's fault, but when needed, in my experience the NHS always responds quickly and professionally to emergencies, and the routine stuff eventually gets done to the same high standard, which is pretty good under the circumstances.. You can tell that the staff are under serious pressure, but generally they still manage a smile. In summary, they are providing a fantastic service, thank you NHS and Evgenia Anikina. David H

During consultations, Dr. Ahmad patiently and kindly listened to my symptoms, provided explanations regarding potential causes and created a clear investigation plan. He also dealt patiently with all my questions (they were plenty!). Regarding procedures, so far have I seen him for colonoscopy which was arranged promptly. It went smoothly and Dr. Ahmad found one polyp which could have easily been missed. At the times when one's feeling unwell, and just wants to get better, the patience, reassurance and empathy really make a huge difference. This is precisely why, apart from his great expertise, I would wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Ahmad.

Blood test rescheduled to first to another location (an aesthetics office) and time, then again to a later time. Then no results for five days. Then LBT said test could not be done, so offered a £30 cheaper test instead. When I pointed out the alternative was £30 less expensive and asked for the difference, they increased the price of the new test by £30 online in real time as we discussed it (!!!). Unbelievable. Happily this ordeal inspired me to search harder and find better alternative services nearby so rebooked with another company for £50 less.

Went to Prof Zoe for consultation after a DCIS diagnosis. I was so impressed with her knowledge, experience and guidance. After seeing all my scans and diagnostics she guided me through my type of cancer and what the outcomes should be and gave me help and advice on the things I needed to ask and clarify back to my NHS team . I would highly recommend a consultation with the Prof ..she for me is the best in her field. Additionally she has a wonderful and caring practice manager Jenny who is amazing ..a wonderful help and support you get is first class

Appointment on 31/01/2026- 1. Poor mobile network at the reception area, irrespective of mobile network provider. 2. Staff at reception does not know who visitors can log to use wi-fi. In my case I need wifi to access BUPA app to provide treatment authorisation code. I had to walk outside in the rain to be able to get network. 3. Staff at reception gave the wrong consultation room. 4. Waited past appointment time and when back to query. Told appointment at a different consultation room. Always had issues at reception

My visit was well run with all preparations going smoothly. Apparently it was rather difficult to waken me after the operation and therefore had to remain overnight. I was told that I would be contacted approximately four weeks after, but this didn’t happen. I would have liked to have been explained the reason for the problem with my awakening as it might be useful should I need a general anaesthetic in the future.

Have just had my follow up with Sharad Bhatnagar at 6 weeks at Nuffield Newcastle. Mr Bhatnagar is so welcoming and it was just so nice to see him again. He showed me my x rays and confirmed all looked good but still to follow my hip precautions and not to hesitate to get in touch if I needed anything.
