    Mr John Ferris

    Ophthalmologist

Having suffered from very poor long vision I had laser surgery in both eyes about 18 years ago which for the first 7 or 8 years was exceptional and I achieved better than 20:20 vision. However, the myopia came back and while no where near as bad, it was annoying having to wear glasses or contact lenses again. Over the last couple of years I found that my near vision which was exceptional, became blurred when wearing contacts or glasses and I was on the brink of having to have various different pairs of glasses to cope with the changes. It was at this point that I started to investigate intraocular lens replacement. I researched this on and off for probably a year before I had a really good conversation with my optician and she gave me a recommendation of John. The recommendation was the missing piece for me and having read his reviews and the excellent information on his website, I knew this was something I wanted to pursue further. The initial chat with John was very informative and he kindly replied to my many questions giving full and clear answers. He was also very clear and honest from the onset of what the possible complications could be. For me this was the fact that my eyes were still myopic in shape and that I had previously had laser surgery. These areas were discussed further in our face to face meeting and having carring out a full examination, I booked surgery straight away. The wait for surgery was nerve racking and exciting in equal measures and I had chosen to get both eyes done at the same time. I also chose the Galaxy lenses as my goal was to be free of glasses and contact lenses. The procedure was carried out at Tetbury hospital which is a wonderful cottage hospital which has a very warm and welcome feeling. Alll the nurses and team there were incredibly supportive as was John who came over to say hello and administer the anesthetic drops about 30 mins before surgery. The surgery took about 45mins to an hour which included a short break inbetween eyes for all equipment to be changed. Initially you see a very bright light and feel some pressure, I had a mild bit of discomfort on one eye as we were coming to the end of the procedure but noting unpleasant. After having the first eye done, I was sat up and to be honest you see very little other than light, shadows and it looks like you have lots of water in your eye, that is the only way I can describe it. For a short time my vision was also tinted slightly orange which cleared quickly. By the time the other eye had been done, plastic goggles stuck to your face to protect the eyes, the first eye operated on was much clearer. There was no pain. The following morning it was a very bright and sunny day and there was some minor pain everytime my eyes had to adjust to light. I spent the next couple of days indoors, sometimes wearing some sun glasses which really helped. John's call at the end of the first day confirmed that everything was fine and apart from some gritty/itchy feeling, all the symptoms quickly subsided. Lots of drops supplied along with a handy reminder sheet really helped. At the four week checkin John informed me that the results were excellent and I have better than 20:20 vision for both close, medium and long distance. Some days things can be a bit blurry but this is apparently as the brain gets used to the lenses and this process can take up to 9 months. However, the results were amazing and I can't believe that this is my eyesight for the rest of my life. Lots of people have asked me what it was like, did I have my eye balls injected? Can I feel the lenses in my eyes? Did I see the knife as it cut my eye open? I can confirm that the process was a lot less terrifying than the nature of those questions and not as dramatic! I would recommend this procedure and especially John as a surgeon in a heart beat. It is life changing and brilliant to have John and his excellent team there to support and guide you through the process. I also have to recommend the fabulous service you also receive from his PA Carole-Anne, you are very well looked after.

I received warm, well informed professional attention throughout my care at St Anthony's Hospital; from outpatients through to discharge. The room was clean, well heated and ventilated, equipment checked and the armchairs comfortable. The unit was quiet. Nursing staff answered call bells promptly and with kindness and a smile. No request was considered a problem. Their level of knowledge and professionalism was excellent along with the standard of care. Physiotherapy care was also excellent and given with respect to my individual needs. Recovery staff were informative and reassuring. Excellent care there too. I include catering staff who also took care in their work. A few glitches with the electronics on the bed and the new bathroom which received prompt attention - the unit has been recently renovated.

My original appointment was with Mr Kamran Saha, as it was thought that I had a which Mr Saha confirmed it was not but rather a cyst. As this was not his expertise, he referred me to Miss Swan Kang who confirmed it was a cyst and arranged an excision. During the procedure Miss Kang noticed a second cyst next to the big one which she also removed and sent both off for biopsies. Amazingly 6 days later there are no visible signs of any incisions apart from some slight redness in the area. I am super happy with the results and grateful to Mr Saha for referring me to Miss Kang. I was also very impressed by Robyn for taking care of all the underlying preparations for both consultations and the minor op which took less than 2 days to complete!!! Kudos to Robyn for managing everything so swiftly and efficiently.

I’ve worked with Rebecca on my left knee for nearly a year. Before this I had worked with another physio for a year and as per my orthopaedic surgeon, Pure Sports Medicine was the last option before we attempt surgery. And right he was. Rebecca’s programme has completely stopped my pain, I can now use the stairs again, squat and even take on challenging hikes. I am slowly making my back to tennis even. Rebecca’s initial appointment on assessing my knee was more than just taking measures. She asked about my goals and what kind of physical activity I want to be able to so. She also factored in my mental health condition. I have never experienced physio with such a 360 approach. I feel confident in how to approach life going forward leaving the service and understanding my body better than ever.

I recently saw Dr Peysh Patel for an urgent review of my blood pressure, and I was extremely impressed by how thorough, professional, and reassuring he was throughout the entire consultation. He took the time to understand the context behind my readings, reviewed my home measurements carefully, and explained everything clearly without resorting to unnecessary investigations or overly complex interventions. His approach was calm, clinically precise, and genuinely patient-focused, and he adjusted my treatment in a thoughtful, evidence-based way. I would highly recommend Dr Patel to anyone seeking a skilled cardiologist who provides clear explanations, sensible management, and a balanced, supportive approach.

I had an excellent experience at Nuffield Hospital Guildford. The hospital was very easy to find, and the reception team were welcoming and efficient. Check-in was quick, and within a few minutes I was seen by the doctor, which was impressive. The facilities were modern and spotless, with a comfortable waiting area and both hot and cold drinks available. The building itself feels contemporary and well maintained, creating a calm and professional environment. The staff were courteous, organised, and clearly experienced, which gave me confidence throughout my visit. Overall, a very smooth and professional experience from start to finish. I would highly recommend Nuffield Hospital Guildford.

My experience was very disappointing with the consultant. I was happy for my appointment to be changed just before attending due to the consultant running late. I was very disappointed with the lack of interest and time shown to be by the consultant. I got 10 minutes of his time to be told to cut out caffeine at the cost of £250. I was hoping to receive some understanding of what could be causing recurrent UTI's and reassuring me of any fears of anything sinister i.e bladder cancer. Only to be told this only occurs for around 10/20% of cases. I think what really irked me was he looked at his watch part way through me speaking This I found very disrespectful and rude.

My stay at Delamere was incredible I would highly recommend it. The staff were so friendly and nice, every single one of them knew my name from day 1 which made me feel a lot more comfortable and safer. The structure of the groups and days were well thought out through. Every group was informative, engaging and interesting. They offer many 1-2-1 sessions to allow for a more focused therapeutic approach, all the therapists and mentors were highly knowledgable and compassionate. The food was great with plenty of options and flexibility. I’m very thankful to have got to stay here.

Mr Ahmed performed my Breast Reduction surgery and I couldn’t be happier with the entire experience. From the first consultation, he was patient, thorough, and honest about what I could expect. The clinic staff were efficient, and I always felt well cared for. My surgery went smoothly, recovery instructions were clear, and my follow-up appointments were never rushed. The results look amazing and exceeded my expectations. I’m very grateful for the care I received and would absolutely recommend Mr Ahmed to anyone considering this procedure.”

It really was an excellent consultation, Dr Uherek had allowed plenty of time to explain to my wife and I every aspect of my forthcoming treatments, and answer all of our questions, she provided further guidance on diet and exercise, including special deals on gym membership through McMillans. The doctor also went of other aspects of my health and provided useful guidance. I can’t remember the last time I felt that totally satisfied after a hospital consultation.
