I have been very happy with my overall experience at Vision Scotland Edinburgh. The staff were both friendly and professional. I was well informed regarding my choices and the procedure. I have been thrilled with the result of the cataract surgery. I was given an appointment very soon after the referral. I would however like to let you know how I felt the experience on the day of the operation could have been improved. Firstly I was not sent the Post Op information which would have been most helpful to read before the procedure. Secondly I got very cold in theatre and was given a blanket but it did take me ages to warm up. It would have been better to have been given a blanket before the procedure started. There is a lot of cold water being used which does add to the chill. Thirdly I was not told to bring sunglasses for the journey home or to bring analogies both of which I would very much appreciated as I lived over a hour away. On the journey home I became extremely uncomfortable. Finally the roof of my mouth and tongue got a little burnt I think by the coffee as they must have been a little bit anaesthetised still when I had the coffee. The coffee however i have to say was absolutely welcome and the best thing along with the toasted teacake. I found it very reassuring to have a telephone number to call which I did use. I also very much appreciate the phone call from the nurse a couple of days post op. I hope you find the above comments of use. I do not wish to criticise as overall it was an extremely good experience and I would and have already recommended Vision Scotland. ( I did tell my neighbour to ask for a blanket!)

I booked and paid for a private online consultation with Dr Vinesan Naidoo regarding persistent hyperprolactinaemia confirmed on blood tests (monomeric prolactin approx. 590 mIU/L; total prolactin approx. 704 mIU/L) with ongoing symptoms including low libido, low energy, anxiety, poor sleep and mood issues. This appointment was extremely disappointing. From the start, I was interrupted repeatedly and not allowed to explain my symptoms properly. The doctor quickly dismissed the issue as “physiological” and “not a medical concern” despite clearly abnormal blood results and clear symptoms affecting my quality of life. What I found most frustrating is that he seemed to assume he knew better than I do about what I’m experiencing, essentially implying that raised prolactin at these levels cannot cause symptoms — even though it is well known that prolactin elevation can affect libido, mood, energy and sexual function in men. There was no structured assessment and no clear plan. The consultation did not cover: possible causes of raised prolactin repeat testing plan (fasting, stress-controlled, early morning) medication/supplement review endocrine referral pathway whether pituitary imaging should be considered if prolactin remains elevated As a patient paying privately, I expected a professional, thorough medical discussion. Instead, I felt dismissed and rushed, and left with no help, no reassurance, and no next steps. I cannot recommend this doctor based on my experience. I paid for a medical consultation, but what I received was an opinion with no investigation, no plan and no clinical value.

This was my second pregnancy, and I am incredibly grateful for the care I received from Dr Noori throughout the entire journey. From the start, she took a truly tailored approach, carefully considering my individual health conditions and adapting care accordingly. Appointments were never rushed, every test result was reviewed thoroughly. Her depth of knowledge and calm confidence meant I always felt that everything was under control. I received constant support, reassurance, and clear explanations during both pregnancy and delivery, with every question answered patiently and thoughtfully. This made a huge difference to my confidence and peace of mind. The birth itself was extremely smooth and well guided, with no unnecessary stress. I felt supported at every step, which resulted in a healthy baby, no complications, and no tears. I couldn’t have asked for better care and would wholeheartedly recommend Dr Noori to anyone looking for an exceptional obstetric consultant.

I have been so pleased with my experience of surgery by Dr Shilen Patel. At the first consultation he explained very clearly and in detail what my operation would entail and the possible risks, but without scaring me. This gave me a lot of confidence for the day of the operation, and the surgery went very well. When dressings were removed 10 days after my operation I was really surprised to see how neat the wound was, and it was healing nicely. I had very little pain, and Mr Patel explained to me at my follow up appointment that the tumour had been removed fully without rupturing, so there is very little chance of it returning. He had also explained how they had worked to ensure they did not damage a nearby nerve which I had been so relieved about. In conclusion, I was very pleased with the overall treatment received and with the care and respect I was shown. Thank you.

All of the staff at Nuthfield were so kind. Everyone was always smiling and being happy and kind to myself and my partner. From the receptionist who told us where to go and took us to our room. To the night nurse that checked us in to the room. I had multiple nurses come and check on me throughout the time I waited to have the cystoscopy. We were able to get food before and after. We arrived at 07:00 on the 27th, and I can't remember all the lovely people's names who helped us. My only slight criticism would be from arriving at the hospital at 07:00 the actual procedure didn't start till after 09:00 and this gave me lots of time to overthink the procedure. But I think that was a me problem and I also don't know how long these things take to check people in etc. So apologies if it is standard haha.

I saw Dr Hughes for the management of keloid scars and had a really positive experience. From the start, he was kind, calm, and easy to talk to, which put me at ease. He took the time to properly explain my condition and walked me through all the available treatment options. I found his explanations very clear and easy to understand, and I felt confident that he really knew what he was talking about. Throughout the consultation, I felt listened to and supported. He answered all my questions patiently and made sure I felt comfortable with the plan we discussed. I left the appointment feeling reassured, informed, and pleased with the treatment plan going forward. I would definitely recommend Dr Hughes to anyone looking for a knowledgeable and compassionate dermatologist.

It's not easy when you find out that you are going to be in hospital for a long period of time, especially when it is for a life threatening diagnosis. But Ranjana made me feel safe and comfortable from the first day. She explained everything to me clearly, offered me a safe space to feel emotional, explained to me about what was going on in my body and allowed me to not only come to terms with what was happening but also get through it. Every niggle, worry and symptom was treated with care. knowledge and I got through it! There are not enough words for me to express what a fantastic doctor she is and how in a scary situation I felt like I could trust her completely. I will forever be grateful that she is on my team.

I visited Dr. Dwivedi for an ear problem with a constant ringing sound that was affecting my daily life. He listened very carefully to my symptoms, examined me thoroughly, and clearly explained what could be causing the problem. He also suggested the appropriate tests to confirm the diagnosis and guided me through each step. After reviewing the results, he prescribed the right medication, and I am happy to say that my condition improved and I was cured. Throughout the consultation, he was calm, patient, and never rushed. Dr. Dwivedi is not only an excellent and knowledgeable doctor, but also a genuinely kind and caring person. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a trustworthy ENT specialist.

The physiotherapist seemed unconcerned by the pain I have been experiencing for nearly a year. He mentioned that I had full movement and so he was not concerned. He kept saying that he would not give me another steroid injection without acknowledging that I didn’t want one. He told me to do some exercises which he showed me how to do once and gave me no paperwork or YouTube link that might assist when I got home. I tried to ask how long I should wait before I made any further action and he said there is no more treatment. I felt like an inconvenience and wish I had gone somewhere else. I would never recommend anyone to see him again. He really made me feel small and insignificant.

My most recent visit was for an MRI scan which occurred in in the mobile unit. My oncologist requested a full spinal scan as well as a head and neck scan. The radiographer told me that this wasn’t possible then proceeded to ask me to choose one or the other. I wasn’t qualified to make this decision as both were equally important. There was insufficient information given as to the reason for not being able to have the scans I was booked in for, which really wasn’t good enough. Having waited quite a few weeks for this appointment I am annoyed that I will have to return next week to have the spinal scan. I expect better.

I found the whole experience of surgery with Dr. Kovacova to be extremely reassuring. I was relatively nervous about the ptosis op, she gave clear and considered information on what I should expect and the related risks before the op but was careful to explain that it was a relatively routine procedure that put me at ease. During the op she talked to me throughout, making me feel calm and relaxed. During my follow up appointment she was very friendly and explained the best course of action for healing. All in all, Dr. Kovacova ensure an extremely positive experience of surgery.

I have just had a Mohs procedure carried out by Dr Shah. From the first consultation to the subsequent procedure and then follow ups he was reassuring, providing me with all the information I required, answering any queries I had in full. The procedure was pain free and information regarding after care clear and concise. The result is that I have virtually no mark/scar - he is so skilled and painstaking at the closure of the wound. Dr Shah has been charming and totally professional through the whole experience and I would not hesitate to recommend him.

It was a little overwhelming as I was expecting to discuss fitting a coil and whilst that was mentioned, I was advised about having surgery which was unexpected. I found myself agreeing to the surgery despite not knowing much about it. The risks were not explained and I didnt find out how the procedure would be executed or potential recovery time that might be required. I feel a bit confused about whether this is the right course of action or not. I was not pleased to receive a letter that claimed the risks were explained to me, when they were not.

Different time slots and sessions or more flexibility. Clearer communication between services and funders. Digital timetable, links and resources could benefit from being clearer/more easy to find. Mixed bag of staff, although the weaker ones did go quite quickly it still felt as though I was a bit of a guinea pig and didn't get as much from those sessions. Core team very caring, compassionate and supportive. Environment is an downside, a shared office building is not the best setting.

I visited Fordcombe hospital today to see Mr Devalia, after being referred following a recent medical. All of the staff were very friendly and welcoming, the process was seamless and scans were very thorough. I was anxious about the visit but Mr Devalia was very warm, professional and reassuring and explained the whole process in detail and put my mind at rest. I would strongly recommend both the hospital and staff and strongly recommend Mr Devalia.
