This was my second time delivering at The Portland Hospital, and overall, I’ve once again had a very positive experience. The doctors, midwives, and wider staff are consistently friendly, attentive, and genuinely caring, which makes such an important time feel safe and well supported. Throughout my stay, I felt that both my baby and I were in capable hands. The environment is calm, professional, and reassuring, and the level of care from the majority of the team truly reflects the hospital’s strong reputation. However, there was one unfortunate incident that I feel is important to highlight. On one occasion, I was under the care of a student midwife. While I completely understand and respect that everyone has to learn, the experience was not handled as well as it should have been. During her care, she removed my cannula which resulted in blood dripping excessively, and then proceeded to take my blood pressure from the same arm, causing further bleeding through the dressing. This led to unnecessary discomfort and concern. What was particularly worrying was that she attributed her mistakes to it being lunchtime and not having eaten, which didn’t feel like an appropriate or reassuring explanation given the situation. Aside from this isolated incident, my experience at The Portland Hospital has been very good. The overall standard of care, professionalism, and kindness from the majority of the staff is excellent, and it remains a place I would recommend for maternity care. I also want to extend an extra thank you to Miriam who was very helpful, caring and supportive, she called me after we’ve been discharged to ensure my daughter was doing well from her jaundice. Also, special thank you to Francesca, Florence and Davina for making my stay extra special and comfortable.

I would like to share my appreciation for the care I have received from Mr Brewer over the past 2 years. From the outset I felt listened to and understood. He has a warm and approachable manner, alongside a strong depth of expertise. Of specific importance to me was his willingness to listen carefully and take the time to understand my concerns, which helped me feel reassured and supported throughout. Before moving towards surgery, different options were discussed and considered, which I valued. When it came to the possibility of a hysterectomy—something I initially felt quite nervous and overwhelmed about—Mr Brewer took the time to answer my questions clearly and patiently, helping me feel more informed and at ease. Post surgery I am feeling more myself than I have done in a number of years. I will, without hesitation, return to Mr Brewer for any future related care, and wholeheartedly recommend him to others seeking gynaecological support, particularly those who may not have felt fully heard or acknowledged in previous experiences.

I had an in person appointment,the place was very clean and tidy.the only thing I would say is that it doesn't state anywhere about having to go in and just sit and wait so I was slightly confused when walking in and so was other people in there.Ive had 2 video appointments aswell and every person I spoke to was very lovely,not judgemental,made me feel so comfortable and because of this I was able to speak about things i haven't told many people and could speak about all the weird/awkward things about my autism/adhd traits. I was extremely impressed with how quickly I got my appointments and the results back,both adhd and autism results came back faster than I was told.

I must say that Mr John Terrace was extremely thorough in the assessment and treatment of my hernias. What initially appeared to be a single hernia was carefully investigated, and he identified additional hernias that might otherwise have gone unnoticed. I am very pleased that I was able to secure an appointment with Mr Terrace. The entire surgical process was seamless, and he took the time to clearly explain the procedure, which put me completely at ease. I am recovering well now and feel reassured by the care I received. I sincerely hope there will be no recurrence in the future, and I am grateful for the expertise and professionalism shown throughout my treatment.

Very pleasing visit, before work started it was a little introduction explaining what Adrian would be looking to do and how, I gave introduction of my problem. so then on to the ultrasound in action again Adrian was talking me through what he was looking at on his screen with explanation of his findings. I have to say I felt very comfortable in his manor of explaining with his findings and explaining all the information is saved and can be passed on for my doctor to review for next steps.

I recently had a flare up of my eye condition. After contacting the clinic I was swiftly given an appointment to be seen by Guy Smith. The clinic is clean, bright, welcoming and friendly. Alison is an asset to the clinic and does her best to get me seen urgently when needed. Guy Smith is brilliant, he’s helped settle down my condition many times and always looks at the bigger picture.
