I received my care at the Spire Regency Hospital in Macclesfield following a unicompartmental knee replacement in November 2025, and the standard of care throughout was excellent. From recovery through to the ward, the post-operative care was consistently compassionate, professional, and attentive. Every member of staff I encountered — from nursing and medical staff to healthcare assistants, physiotherapists, and catering staff — was kind, supportive, and clearly committed to patient wellbeing. Although I didn’t manage to note everyone’s name, those I did were outstanding and a real credit to the hospital. The physiotherapy support was particularly impressive. My post-operative physiotherapist understood exactly how far my knee should be bending at each stage and struck the right balance between encouragement and reassurance. This helped me overcome the understandable mental barriers around pain and guarding, and I was given a clear and structured recovery exercise plan to follow at home.

The set-up was scruffy/down at heel. The reception staff appeared weary, little interaction and certainly no putting anyone at ease. The approach to the outside of the building is unwelcoming and unclear. Far too many stairs with no assistance offered or given. No courteous instructions, no graciousness. The waiting room was full of materials to be used in decorating/ construction …. Maybe they thought the over large, badly adhered to the wall TV playing the same continuous “Winter” loop made up for feeling very much an inconvenience. One of the most annoying things is when you explain you’re deaf they say and they did “Oh we’ll speak loudly.” Empathy dictates clarity and pace NOT volume ( training needed in several areas ) seats in waiting area uncomfortable - nowhere to place/rest anything.

After many months of difficulties prompted by the sudden loss of my husband, I can finally see a light at the end of the tunnel. Communication with Kernow Psychiatry has been very responsive and I booked an initial appointment to discuss my mental health difficulties. Dr Reid welcomed me into a comfortable room at the wellness hub, she immediately put me at ease and took care make sure I was settled and ready to start. After the hour, Dr Reid summarised what she saw as the key priorities to getting me back on an even keel, suggesting a clear approach to addressing my intersecting issues. I am looking forward to my follow up appointment and the start of my recovery treatment plan. I only wish I’d followed my instincts sooner and booked in months ago.

When I entered the premises I couldn’t believe the transformation that had taken place as I was familiar with the building when it was a hairdressing salon. It was spacious, immaculate and tranquil. Having been quite anxious before my appointment, I quickly relaxed as all the staff were extremely friendly and kind. All the tests were performed swiftly and smoothly with every concern for my comfort and my understanding of the procedures involved. Mrs. Matthews explained my forthcoming cataract surgery clearly, comprehensively and reassuringly and I was very pleased to be offered the surgery I such a short space of time. All in all I couldn’t have wished for a better experience with North Wales Eye Specialist Centre.

Dr. Seepana was extremely knowledgeable and understanding. She explained everything in detail. For the first time, I really felt listened to by a GP and not fobbed off with medications that would only treat symptoms but not touch the root cause. I was so grateful to be heard- so much so that I felt quite emotional at points during the consultation. After years of what can only be described as hell dealing with perimenopause symptoms and the extreme stresses of not getting sufficient help or understanding from NHS doctors, I finally feel a real sense of hope that I will be able to 'get back to my old self'. I went to see Emma for help with scar tissue damage after a recent calf tear. We also looked at IBS help and sleeping and also regulating my body tempreture as I naturally run warm. Mr Loh carried out revision surgery on my chest following an incomplete excision carried out by a surgeon in London. So my anxiety levels were quite high but Mr Loh's kindness, empathy and confidence at our consultation and on the day of surgery made me feel a lot better. He also gave me very clear instructions on taking care of the scar to optimise its appearance.

I had a full replacement of my right hip on 22/10/2025. Mr Soler and all his team were very professional and kept me informed at every stage of the procedure. I came out the next day and following a few visits back for physio was discharged on 11/12/2025. I am now able to walk for 1.5 hours or more both up and down hill. Thanks again to all the team.

This was the first time I had been treated in hospital for 50 years so I was understandably anxious about having a hip replacement operation but everybody was so kind and helpful with endless patience and professionalism nothing was to much trouble and I would recomend to anyone this hospital and all the staff are excellent.

Prompt,efficient service to book appointment. Short waiting time as offered cancellation appointment. Slight wait for clinic review, but informed of 10 minute delay when we arrived. Only issue I would have is lack of patient parking at Mount Alvernia, and this is a particular issue when struggling with mobility!
