The appointment I had was disappointing. I have been waiting a number of weeks to discuss an MRI with a specialist in gynaecology, when I became slightly tearful she demanded that I had ‘emotional support’ handing me a paper towel for your hands go wipe my face. I stated that would make me uncomfortable and that I wanted to support myself and she informed me that the appointment could not continue if and we would need to re book it (after waiting for many weeks in chronic pain) so I accepted her brining someone external in so we could finish the appointment. The person she bought in proceeded to come in and out of the room constantly getting leaflets which was not any sort of emotional support for me. The doctor continually referred to my history of anxiety as an ‘issue’ and did not have any sensitivity when discussing mental health especially in connection to physical illness. The way she used my history of anxiety was inappropriate and lacking in understanding.

From the initial call to Holly, Professor Turney’s secretary, the standard of patient service is exceptional. Four days later I had a consultation and a date set for Aquablation surgery. I cannot speak highly enough about the Professor and the exceptional care I received. From the very first consultation, he took the time to explain everything clearly, answer my questions patiently, and make me feel comfortable and confident about my treatment. His CV is a testament to his skill, precision and technical expertise. Additionally he has genuine compassion and attentiveness that made me feel like more than just a patient. Equally, as a 66 year old man with an extra large prostate I can unreservedly recommend the Aquablation procedure. No longer do I need to get up in the night, my urine flow is amazing and the frequent urgency to use the bathroom has diminished. A part from blood in my urine for just over 3 weeks I had no other issues and making a full recovery.

The actual consultants at Spire are outstanding in their conduct and knowledge - what could be improved is the initial contact one has with the Reception Team, with a few who are frosty and act like gatekeepers. I came in yesterday evening for an MRI scan and reported to Reception only to be apprehended by a staff member who was brisk and abrupt - it was not what one would associate with The Spire Hospital and was very off putting. My husband witnessed this scenario and was appalled - l was treated not as a client but as an offender! This persons manner was better served in the role of a club bouncer!! The reception team (x2 women) at the desk for where to report for the MRI scan fared no better in their disdain they displayed: no discretion given and asked abruptly if l was insurance paid or not? If it wasn’t for the consultants onsite l would never set foot here as the initial contact with staff on the “ground level” is shockingly bad!

Mr Edward Calleja

Mr Calleja is absolutely superb. I found him to be extremely professional with a calm, caring manner. He explained everything clearly and concisely, and his explanations and the information given were so thorough that all my questions were answered without me having to ask them. I left the consultation feeling confident and reassured. He had taken the time to read my notes before I went in to see him so was completely up to date with my health situation and therefore able to focus directly on me. It was beyond amazing to have a consultant sitting face to face talking to me, not at me, and not focused on a computer screen. He was running slightly late, which apparently is because he gives patients as much time as is needed - a refreshing change. I cannot praise Mr Calleja highly enough and I can thoroughly recommend him without hesitation.

I am leaving Abbington House tomorrow. After my time spent here at Abbington I am leaving knowing that there is a more peaceful way that I can live my life sober. My one-one professional therapist here has been “Cos”! Cos is an incredible therapist with so much personal knowledge of recovery..helping me daily to understand all so that I leave with the tools I need. All the staff here show empathy…care & kindness.. to all, they certainly do know their stuff! So if you are reading my review here & you or someone else needs the support of Abbington House ? I can 100% recommend this to you with confidence! Thanking all the lovely staff at Abbington for helping me on my way to a new life of sobriety!

I had attended the appointment with orthopedist... Im absolutely satisfy. He had confirmed what I was thinking it may he wrong. I had excellent explanations and given options how to deal with my issue. I got referred further to do some scans. I definitely recommend to use all services available. Im a returning patient and can not fault it at all. Of course its private and expensive but you owe to see a doctor fave to fave and you get personal centred one to one help. Short time! Via NHS it would be cheep but minimum 6 months waiting. Best customer service.

Jonathan is an amazing surgeon not just because he is one of the best but also for his calmness and reassuring nature. This was my fourth knee surgery, the second by Jonathan. Mr Worthington was very polite and helpful and has a very friendly manner and gave me the replies to my questions and made me feel relaxed. I was asked to have a contrast C-T Scan which is arranged for next week. On the next question i have put down gallbladder disease as i am not sure what else to put down as my condition as i believe when the C-T scan is done it will show what ever has caused my complaint.
