In August 2025, due to the long delays at Luton and Dunstable, they offered for me to be seen as an NHS patient at One Stop (OSD) Clinic at Hemel Hempstead, where I was seen by Dr Mittel. Following a consultation, he advised that I be referred back to L&D for a hysterectomy (he could not do overnight procedures at his clinic) and prescribed Ryeqo, a medication that suppresses ovarian function and includes HRT. However, I was not provided with a NHS prescription for Ryeqo, as Dr Mittel did not have the necessary NHS prescription pad and advised that it must come from an NHS consultant. I have since discovered that my GP is unable to prescribe Ryeqo and that this must indeed be handled by a hospital consultant. I am unable to afford this medication privately, as it costs approximately £100 per month. With no consultant to prescribe the medication on the NHS, I am therefore left without treatment and unclear as to whether I am even on the waiting list for a hysterectomy. To add to my distress, my interactions with Dr Mittel have been upsetting. During our initial consultation, when I asked about potential side effects of Ryeqo, he responded inappropriately by laughing and comparing the risks to getting on a bus or plane. He failed to explain that only a consultant could prescribe the medication on the NHS, and I had to research this information myself. He also failed to talk me through any of the potential side effects which again I have now researched myself. At a subsequent appointment for a hysteroscopy, when I attempted to raise my concerns about still not being able to get the NHS Ryeqo prescription (as advised by his secretary), he dismissed the issue, saying it was not the right time to discuss it. Instead, he began venting his frustrations about NHS inefficiencies and his personal issues with parking as a consultant. This unprofessional and inappropriate behaviour left me extremely upset and in tears just prior to undergoing the procedure. Although he later apologised, stating he was “stressed,” this is not the level of care I expect or deserve as a patient and I wonder if I was his private patient as opposed to an NHS patient his manner would have been the same.

Dr Vakharia is an outstanding doctor. I received amazing care from him from my first consultation to my post-op. I always came to consultations with a list of anxious questions and he took time to answer all of them carefully, always aiming to give me the full information and not shying away from the risks. I never felt pressured to go the surgery route; he empowered me to make my own choices. Through the consultations Dr Vakhraria also showed compassion for women who suffer with these debilitating symptoms, and I really felt like he was on my side. My surgery itself went very well. He popped his head in several times during my hospital stay to see how I was doing, and explained things about the surgery and recovery. In my post-op consultation, he explained the procedure step-by-step and let me know I can always come back for a further consultation if something worries me. Throughout the whole process, he showed nothing but the upmost kindness, compassion and care. After a misdiagnosis and a slow journey to eventual diagnosis within the NHS, I knew I wanted my surgery in a timely manner - since I was already nearly a year after injury not playing the sport I love. I also was anxious about the statistics surrounding ACL (and meniscus) surgery regarding return to sport. I wanted an expert in the field and a consultant who come recommended. So with that, booking with Mr Coleridge was a no brainer. From booking, to my 6 month appointment (which subsequently resulted in a discharge!) I have felt it was money well spent. I cannot fault Mr Coleridge’s expertise and bedside manner. You can tell he really cares about what he does. The surgery went really well and he even waited until the GA wore off to come and tell me this. I am so grateful and sincerely thankful for the work he’s done, and I’m counting down the days till I return to sport. I also want to thank his med sec, Sarah, who responded promptly to any queries I had.

I was admitted in an emergency under a consultant physician. I had an infection with dehydration.The admission procedure was very calming and welcoming.. The nursing staff were so friendly and my initial care was exactly what was needed to start my treatment and recovery. The consultant had sent a plan of action which was put into action immediately. All very professional, no fuss and reassuring. My room was very comfortable, all I needed for my needs. Catering was similarly a high standard, good menu and choice as to my appetite and ability to eat. All the staff were great and responded very quickly if needed. I was very impressed with my care and the attention I received. The attitude of everyone was just what was required to get me better.

The staff were friendly and made me feel comfortable as soon as I arrived, which helped a lot since I was a bit nervous. We were so impressed with the hospital. It was modern, clean, and we were welcomed so warmly by a nurse called Helen who somehow knew who we were and offered us a hot drink and clearly explained how the process of the appointment and procedure would look like. We were then taken to the room where Dr Shah and a second nurse called Yvonne welcomed us and Dr Shah explained clearly the assessment, the procedure, and dealt with us and and our newborn son with care and attention. The aftercare was also wonderful and we were given time and space to ensure our son had recovered before we left. Cannot recommend One Hospital and Dr Shah enough.

We were anxious about our daughter Abigail going under anaesthetic but put completely at ease by the friendly and professional team. Mr Moor gave a detailed description of the procedure and we particularly liked that our daughter was given the choice of IV or gas administration of anaesthesia. Nurse Jen provided exceptional care and was kind and compassionate throughout. Aftercare advice on discharge was very thorough. The ward was spotlessly clean and food very good.
