Staff were exceedingly helpful, friendly and supportive, which resulted in a very positive experience. Two important feedback comments 1: telephone system in Belfast is not fit for purpose. In spite of many attempts, I always had to wait more than 15 minutes and (apart from once) did not get through (see below). NW system is much better, in that you can opt for a callback when your call reached top of the queue. 2: Co-ordination between NW and Belfast needs attention. I did not get any pre-op preparation advice, in spite of requesting this when appointment was arranged. (I think I fell between two stools, each side thinking the other had provided me with the info). When I realised some time later that I had not got anything, I could not get through on the phone in spite of repeated attempts. I eventually got through on one occasion to advise re: recent medication, but couldn't speak to an appropriate person. The telephonist was very helpful and arranged for it to be dealt with by email., but I still got no pre-op prep information..

I had two day surgery appointments for cataract removal and lens implants, two weeks apart. The first appointment was very straightforward from walking through the door to post operative discharge. The second appointment was less straightforward: despite me being first on the day’s list there was a long wait before my pre-operative assessment. When I was being prepped before going into theatre, the atmosphere in the room was not calm and reassuring, unlike the first time. There was sometimes discomfort during the procedures of anaesthetic and application of the opthalmic speculum, the latter of which has left me with a markedly arched eyebrow on that side, which is only returning to normal after nearly two weeks. As a result I felt tense entering the theatre. Everyone in the theatre was calm and reassuring however, and I was quickly put at ease. I had a positive post operative experience before being allowed home.

My experience was first class. I went in feeling pretty low, anxious, exhausted and simply feeling I had hit a brick wall with how I was trying to manage my menopause symptoms. It was just such a relief to have a professional listen to me fully, be extremely understanding and very kind, but also be able to offer easy and manageable solutions and a proper plan going forward. I just felt such a weight off my shoulders (which I hadn't fully realised how stressed out I actually was). I left after that first appointment happier and more calm than I have been in a while. Exceptional service from Dr Hardy, she listened well and took a comprehensive history, ensuring she understood my issues in detail. She was honest and upfront about what I need to do to help myself but not judgemental and explained the reasoning clearly. She ensured my GP were informed about next steps, that I had a point of contact if issues arose. She worked with me to create a comprehensive treatment plan and made sure I was happy with trying a new medication but also explained alternative options and why she was recommending this course and what can be tried if this should fail. I came away with a much better understanding of my condition and treatment options. Overwhelmingly positive!

He thoroughly interpreted my X Rays and Scans to me and what I could expect before,during and after my knee surgery.
