    Mr John Ferris

    Ophthalmologist

Having suffered from very poor long vision I had laser surgery in both eyes about 18 years ago which for the first 7 or 8 years was exceptional and I achieved better than 20:20 vision. However, the myopia came back and while no where near as bad, it was annoying having to wear glasses or contact lenses again. Over the last couple of years I found that my near vision which was exceptional, became blurred when wearing contacts or glasses and I was on the brink of having to have various different pairs of glasses to cope with the changes. It was at this point that I started to investigate intraocular lens replacement. I researched this on and off for probably a year before I had a really good conversation with my optician and she gave me a recommendation of John. The recommendation was the missing piece for me and having read his reviews and the excellent information on his website, I knew this was something I wanted to pursue further. The initial chat with John was very informative and he kindly replied to my many questions giving full and clear answers. He was also very clear and honest from the onset of what the possible complications could be. For me this was the fact that my eyes were still myopic in shape and that I had previously had laser surgery. These areas were discussed further in our face to face meeting and having carring out a full examination, I booked surgery straight away. The wait for surgery was nerve racking and exciting in equal measures and I had chosen to get both eyes done at the same time. I also chose the Galaxy lenses as my goal was to be free of glasses and contact lenses. The procedure was carried out at Tetbury hospital which is a wonderful cottage hospital which has a very warm and welcome feeling. Alll the nurses and team there were incredibly supportive as was John who came over to say hello and administer the anesthetic drops about 30 mins before surgery. The surgery took about 45mins to an hour which included a short break inbetween eyes for all equipment to be changed. Initially you see a very bright light and feel some pressure, I had a mild bit of discomfort on one eye as we were coming to the end of the procedure but noting unpleasant. After having the first eye done, I was sat up and to be honest you see very little other than light, shadows and it looks like you have lots of water in your eye, that is the only way I can describe it. For a short time my vision was also tinted slightly orange which cleared quickly. By the time the other eye had been done, plastic goggles stuck to your face to protect the eyes, the first eye operated on was much clearer. There was no pain. The following morning it was a very bright and sunny day and there was some minor pain everytime my eyes had to adjust to light. I spent the next couple of days indoors, sometimes wearing some sun glasses which really helped. John's call at the end of the first day confirmed that everything was fine and apart from some gritty/itchy feeling, all the symptoms quickly subsided. Lots of drops supplied along with a handy reminder sheet really helped. At the four week checkin John informed me that the results were excellent and I have better than 20:20 vision for both close, medium and long distance. Some days things can be a bit blurry but this is apparently as the brain gets used to the lenses and this process can take up to 9 months. However, the results were amazing and I can't believe that this is my eyesight for the rest of my life. Lots of people have asked me what it was like, did I have my eye balls injected? Can I feel the lenses in my eyes? Did I see the knife as it cut my eye open? I can confirm that the process was a lot less terrifying than the nature of those questions and not as dramatic! I would recommend this procedure and especially John as a surgeon in a heart beat. It is life changing and brilliant to have John and his excellent team there to support and guide you through the process. I also have to recommend the fabulous service you also receive from his PA Carole-Anne, you are very well looked after.

    General Surgeon

I recently underwent corrective surgery for an umbilical hernia under the care of Ms Vijay Vardhini, and I could not be more impressed or grateful for the experience and outcome. From the very first consultation, Ms Vardhini demonstrated a level of professionalism, clarity, and reassurance that immediately put me at ease. She explained the procedure in a way that was both informative and easy to understand, answered all of my questions patiently, and ensured I felt fully prepared and confident ahead of the operation. The surgery itself was carried out with exceptional precision and care. My recovery has been smooth, the results are excellent, and the level of discomfort was far lower than I ever expected , a true testament to her skill and expertise. Beyond the surgical excellence, what stood out most was her compassionate approach. At every stage from assessment through to aftercare, Ms Vardhini made me feel at ease and comfortable as I was very nervous about having the operation. I would highly recommend Ms Vardhini to anyone seeking hernia repair or surgical care. She is an outstanding surgeon who combines technical excellence with warmth, empathy, and professionalism, a rare and reassuring combination. I am incredibly grateful for the positive experience and the care I received. Thank you, Ms Vardhini.

I wanted to express my sincere gratitude and provide feedback following the reconstruction of my eyebrow and forehead after the Mohs procedure to remove a basal cell carcinoma. The entire experience, from initial consultation to recovery, was exceptional. Your clear and detailed explanation of the procedure was immensely reassuring, and I truly appreciated you taking the time to patiently answer all of my questions. Your empathy and supportive manner made a significant difference during what could have been a very anxious time. Most importantly, the end result is incredible. Given the extent of the Mohs removal, I am simply amazed by the meticulous and high-quality reconstruction work on my eyebrow and forehead. Even in the early stages, the outcome is far better than I had hoped for, and I have full confidence that the scar will continue to fade beautifully over time as you predicted. Thank you again for your outstanding skill and compassionate care.

The London Digestive Centre is in a great location, just off Bond Street, making it easy to access. The facility itself provides a comfortable and welcoming setting for patients, and they clearly have access to some of the best doctors, which gives you a lot of confidence in the care you receive. However, the reception experience could have been better. Both receptionists were on the phone when we arrived, and neither came off to assist us or book us in. This was disappointing, as it created unnecessary confusion, especially when time is tight. Ideally, there should be one receptionist dedicated to answering calls and another available to help patients checking in. In the end, we had to go straight to our appointment to avoid being late, and the consultant's secretary kindly stepped in to check us in. While the clinical care was excellent, improving the reception process would really elevate the overall patient experience.

I was seen by Dr Heggy and a lovely staff nurse Charlotte. Dr Heggy was fantastic he actually listened to me. He listened to exactly how I was and had been feeling. I'd been told by another Dr that there was nothing that could be done so I had to see someone for pain management. I'm in pain everyday and just wanted a resolution or at least pin point what could be wrong. Dr Heggy really made me feel heard and suggested other things before we gave up and just give me medication for my pain. Nurse Charlotte was fantastic. While Dr Heggy was looking things up and trying to find other options Charlotte spoke to me like an actual human. So thank you to Dr Heggy and nurse Charlotte for your time and patience with me. It's very much appreciated

I had an excellent experience at Nuffield Hospital Guildford. The hospital was very easy to find, and the reception team were welcoming and efficient. Check-in was quick, and within a few minutes I was seen by the doctor, which was impressive. The facilities were modern and spotless, with a comfortable waiting area and both hot and cold drinks available. The building itself feels contemporary and well maintained, creating a calm and professional environment. The staff were courteous, organised, and clearly experienced, which gave me confidence throughout my visit. Overall, a very smooth and professional experience from start to finish. I would highly recommend Nuffield Hospital Guildford.

Mr Sherif examined me at the one stop breast clinic and Hemel Hempstead, reviewed results of the scans and explained next steps. I wish I had asked more questions about what he could see on the scans etc, as when I questioned the macmillan card he gave me and said I presumed that it was unknown until the results of the biopsy, he said from a clinical perspective he suspected cancer and in hindsight I would have liked to have I understood what it was that indicated that. Next time I will take a list of questions.

He was very empathetic and careful listened to the chronology of my symptoms. He conducted the relevant investigations and started treatment. I told him that a I am very pleased with outcome and at last I feel much better. Thank you so much Dr Alisa

I thought that Professor Papadakis provided me with an exceptional service. He is very professional and reassuring and has an excellent "bed-side manner". He is proactive with his investigations/suggestions and clearly gives great thought to the advice that he gives. He strikes me as very thorough. I felt very well-looked after and, as a result, feel confident about the care and advice that he has given me. I recommend him without hesitation.

Thank you Post surgery, I think it would be beneficial to provide more recovery support / information. Perhaps a health insurance point? Physiotherapy started at 6 weeks and made a huge difference in explaining the recovery process.
