The Lindo Wing at St Mary’s Hospital

I attended St. Marys hospital, Lindo Wing, for an incisional and inguinal hernia surgery. I met with Dr. Krishna Moorthy who explained in detail what the surgery would entail, how he intended to perform the surgery and the recovery process. His detailed explanations and very personable yet professional manner left me in no doubt I had choosen the right hospital and felt very lucky I had been assigned Dr. Moorthy for the operation. On the day of the operation, both Dr. Moorthy and Dr Helgi Johannsson, the anesthesiologist, came to my room to go over details of the upcoming surgery, and left me feeling very relaxed and actually looking forward to getting the operation. The only concern I had was in getting an epidural immediately before the operation, as I had received one years before in another hosiptal which was quite painful, but Dr Helgi Johannsson's administration of the epidural was completely painless, so obviously he is a very professional and highly qualified doctor. The operation was a complete success, and Dr. Moorthy kindly called the people that came to the hospital with me to notify them when the operation was finished and they could come back to see me. The recovery process for the few days in the hospital went very well, with Dr. Moorthy even coming in on the weekend to check up on my progress personally. The entire staff in the Lindo Wing, too many to name individually, were fantastic, keeping a constant check on me, making sure my pain was kept under control, the food was also very good. After leaving the hospital, Dr. Moorthy kept in contact to see how I was progressing. I have to mention that I travelled to St. Marys from Ireland, as they were unwilling in Ireland to perform the operation, given the complexity due to the fact I also have stage 4 liver cancer, but Dr. Moorthy had experience in these cases and as I already mentioned, the operation was a complete success. I cannot say enough good things about all the staff in the Lindo Wing, how they looked after me, and especially Dr. Moorthy who made me feel completely relaxed about having the surgery, and his personal attention and care while I was there, and of course Dr. Helgi Johannsson the anesthesiologist, who explained very well in detail before the operation and his painless administration of the epidural. I would recommend very very highly the Lindo Wing of St. Marys for any procedure.

Communication was excellent, appointments were well organised, and follow-up care was consistent and reliable.

I cannot recommend Mr John Pereira highly enough. From the initial consultation through to post-operative care, I felt completely listened to, reassured, and in expert hands. The outcome is subtle and balanced; I look like a better version of myself rather than “overdone,” which speaks to Mr Pereira’s skill and attention to detail. I was getting ready to leave home in Broadstairs to travel to Canterbury. My Son had rearranged his work to drive me. I received a phone call from the consultant I was going to see. He was under the impression that it was a telephone consultation. As it happened as far as the consultant was concerned it was not necessary for me to travel to Canterbury. He was able to tell me results of MRI and what he felt was the plan of action. There were some crossed wires and it was lucky that I had not started out earlier to use public transport. . Also lucky that the consultant had not waited till.the appointment time on the letter to ring me as i would have been at his clinic.. I was not concerned that I had not got to make the journey.

After my atrial fibrillation (AFib) diagnosis, I booked an appointment with Dr Davies at the Park Hospital. He explained the treatment options: medication, a cardioversion (an electrical reset of the heart), or an ablation. His manner and experience are second to none. He helped me understand the options and I decided upon the RF ablation using the new state of the art facility at the Park. Dr Davies and his brilliant team carried out the procedure and the ITU aftercare team were equally impressive. I’m very pleased to say it went well and heart is now back in normal sinus rhythm, and I’m expected to make a full recovery. I would have no hesitation in highly recommending Dr Davies and everyone at the Park Hospital.

I had an acute pain in my right leg and had difficulty walking. Having had IDD treatment at Osteopath West before for sciatica I called and was given an appointment later that day. On arrival i was given a thorough examination and it was decided that I most likely had a pulled muscle as well as a nerve issue. I had some deep massage on my back and leg followed by an IDD session. The result today is that the pain is considerably better and i can now walk mush better than before. I am grateful for the prompt appointment and the service I received and would recommend Osteopath West to people in a similar position.

The staff are so caring and understanding, while challenging the thinking and behaviors that got me here in the first place. This is my first time at Abbeycare but my 2nd time in rehab. Abbeycare is streets ahead of my previous experience. In that I left feeling more equipped to deal with life sober and supported. He's measured my progress over time using rep count reports and strength measuring devices as well as charting general wellbeing. We recently started adapted boxing too which I have enjoyed. I feel really supported and motivated to reach my goals. He is understanding and meets you where you are at fitness-wise, as well as pushing you to the best you can be.
