Approximately one year ago I experienced a sudden increase/spike in my heart rate when exercising on the rowing machine. My usual heart rate for a steady state training session was between 130 and 145 BPM. This time it suddenly spiked up to about 180 to 190+ bpm, and it would not come down quickly enough. I am quite fit for my age and never had such issues before. As this had never happened before, I did get in touch with my GP and eventually I had a 24hr Holter monitor fitted. The results did not reveal anything that was out of ordinary. But, a month later, I was at an indoor rowing competition, when my heart rate suddenly jumped to 226 bpm and I also experienced headaches. I then decided to use my wife's BUPA family health insurance and I had my 1st appointment with Dr Qasim in July 2025, at Cromwell Hospital. What struck me was his friendly and professional manner. He asked numerous questions about my lifestyle, my past or existing health issues, if any, and the sport I am involved in, rowing. He listened very carefully, patiently and sympathetically to all my concerns I had regarding my symptoms. He was also very reassuring, and I left the appointment feeling a lot more optimistic. Dr Qasim booked several thorough tests and, following the test results, I am now on medication that controls the atrial fibrillation symptoms. I have regained confidence in training harder, and I am now able to race without worrying. I also have regained the confidence that I am not going to have a sudden heart attack or a stroke! As it happens, very soon, I have an appointment with Dr Qasim, to review the last few months since I last saw him and the efficiency of the medication prescribed and obtain a final diagnosis. I am confident that I will able able to control the Afib symptoms and any possible complications, with Dr Qasim’s help and expertise.

I was fortunate enough to be referred to Mr Hassan by another consultant gynaecologist, after a specialist MRI scan revealed significant Stage 4 deep-infiltrating endometriosis and possible adenomyosis. He listened to my concerns, made his recommendations and I had my operation just 10 days after the initial consult!! The surgery was very complex, but successful and I have made a good recovery so far. Thank you so much for giving me a new lease of life. Dr Nish Shah cared for me throughout my pregnancy from 22 weeks onwards, after I was admitted to hospital with a complication (PPROM). This was one of the most difficult times in my life, as we had to make some extremely hard decisions in a very short space of time in order to achieve the best possible outcome for both me and our baby. Sadly, I went into labour shortly after 22 weeks, and Dr Shah was there to deliver my baby and to manually remove the placenta in theatre. Throughout this incredibly unexpected and traumatic experience, I felt exceptionally well cared for. My recovery has been excellent — the bleeding stopped after just four days and I felt almost back to normal within two weeks. Dr Shah remained calm and provided clear, compassionate and excellent medical advice throughout a very challenging time for us. Mr Memarzadeh performed a total knee replacement on my right knee, which was quite quite badly damaged and painful as a consequence of osteoarthritis. The entire process was highly professional from start to finish. It's still early days but I'm very pleased with the result so far. Just 8 weeks after the implant, I'm able to move around easily and with only occasional mild pain. The wound has almost disappeared. Mr Memarzadeh is evidently highly skilled and experienced in this specialist field, and I have no hesitation in recommending him. I would also like to commend his PA, Tracey, who was very supportive and always responded promptly and courteously to my requests and queries.

Fantastic Consultant. Mr Wilkinson has previously performed surgical procedures on me due to have a heart attack at a young age (42) and I have multiple stents. I wanted to just check all was well after 14 years and get some Piece of mind via consultation and some tests (GP will not use NHS services as I was not having no pain or symptoms and are only good in reactive situations) Mr Wilkinson is very knowledgeable, professional and always puts me at ease. It was a very positive experience and thankfully all went very well. I would 100% recommend Mr Wilkinson and trust him completely.

On entering the theatre I was greeted by a lovely member of staff (chaperone) she explained a brief description of what I was having done. Dr Dimitri explained the procedure in full and informed me each time he injected the vein, the nurse reassured me, held my hand as it was a little painful. The Dr then told me the aftercare should I be in pain or bleeding. All in all a great experience, it’s funny I always look forward to surgery as the doctors want to get me better. A great service. Kiera was extremely friendly, knowledgeable and made me feel very much at ease throughout my appointment. I was diagnosed with a Retina tear in my ear and she made me feel very much at ease and safe. It was my first time in Scotland, coming from London I was a bit nervous about what would happen but the admissions team and Justine in particular were extremely reasurring.
