My experience with Quen was exemplary - at the time of first meeting him, my humerus had been fractured for 2-weeks & I was in pain, so he very speedily made himself available for a call to discuss the procedure, and once this had been done, booked me in for surgery the following week. On the morning of the procedure, he once again came to see me to discuss the procedure and let me ask any questions I had, which really reassured me. He then came to see me the morning post the op too, to discuss next steps. Ever since the operation, my arm has steadily been on the mend and this is no doubt down to the great care that Quen & the team have showed throughout. I've also seen Quen for two follow-up X-Rays where he has discussed the progress with me, and with this, I've been able to become more competent & confident in carrying out my day-to-day. I couldn't recommend Quen enough - not only has he been brilliant throughout but he's also a thoroughly lovely man.

I had been considering eye surgery and attended Cathedral Eye Clinic to get a second opinion, having already spoken with a consultant in Dublin. Putting it simply, my experience in Belfast was far superior. The team at Cathedral ran a more comprehensive range of tests, assigned more time and personnel to my case, and were far better at talking through my options. In particular, I was very pleased that they were willing to give me their honest perspectives based on what they felt was best for me in the long run. Ultimately (based on their guidance), I decided not to go forward with any additional procedure at this time, but should I need treatment further down the line, I will not hesitate to go back to Belfast.

Jenna was scheduled for surgery on the Tuesday morning. Everything was explained to us in detail. I had no concerns - all of the staff including Mr. Jewsbury dealt with her in a really calm and confident manner which made her not worry too much. She was taken down first thing in the morning and we were out early afternoon with clear instructions. Her eye has healed really nicely and we’ve got no concerns and overall what could have been a really stressful experience for Jenna was actually quite calm and controlled because of all the staff and particularly Mr Jewsbury. She was quite anxious going in but everyone made her feel very comfortable

The Manor Hospital appeared clean, pleasant environment and staff were friendly. There is however one major issue - Car Parking. I nearly missed my appointment despite arriving 35 minutes prior. The car park does not appear adequate for the volume of patients and staff. A vehicle had been parked and blocked the car park, presumably because they thought were going to miss their appointment. This was resolved by creating a one way system which finally allowed me to, by luck, get a space. As an improvement it might be good if when booking, the booker tells the patient of possible alternative car parks in the area that they might have to use?

Main reception lovely and consultant was great. Imaging receptionist was blunt and frankly dismissive. Now paying invoice for consultation the original price was quoted on phone I found it’s £20 more which isn’t much but when you are self funding every £20 counts! When I complained I was directed to the fees as outlined on my original appointment letter which state it would not exceed £150 which it obviously doesn't but it wasn’t explained that the figure quoted on phone was only an estimate. Pricing should be communicated more clearly for those who don’t have insurance. So far, apart from consultant, a disappointment.

Professor Mark O'Donnell

I arrived at 7.30am to get booked in & ready for my procedure. Was taken to my room to get changed & was taken down before 8.30am. Everything ran very smoothly & Dr.O'Donnell was very professional & talked me through everything that he was doing. Dr O'Donnell reassured me & was very fast & efficient. I couldn't recommend him enough as he is brilliant at what he does. The nurses were very nice too. When I got back to my room I got a cuppa & a scone & I was out of hospital & on way home just after 9am. I would highly recommend Dr.O'Donnell as he is so professional & made me feel at ease. Thankyou for all you're help.

Mr Macpherson was incredibly approachable and very helpful - my surgery was for a full hip replacement. He went over the options and the surgery was agreed. Mr Macpherson was particularly helpful when my surgery had to be postponed from the initial appointment date due to unfortunate and unconnected circumstances. Everything was explained very well to me and email communication was always prompt and informative. I have had a very positive experience and am very grateful to Mr Macpherson and the rest of his team

I assume that due to my strong stomach muscles the surgeon could not lift them so high so as to see that my Inguinal Hernia had extended down to the pubic bone. Probably that is very rare. The surgeon took my observations seriously and indeed enquired again about it before being discharged. Furthermore he phoned me today to re discuss and he restated that I was to have an examination to then decide further actions.

Mr Webb was excellent from the off. He allowed me to come to the decision to have my hip replaced in my own time, was happy to do it when I wanted, and never did anything to undermine my confidence in him - which was not misplaced. He exuded confidence, which made me feel better, and the outturn was exactly as predicted. The aftermath has been successful thus far, fifteen weeks in, so feeling good.

Apprehensive about a possible root canal - antibiotics first but they indicated I did need a root canal. Excellent treatment - didn’t feel the anaesthetic or any pain regardless of all that was ‘going on’ in my mouth. Dentist and dental nurse were very kind throughout the hours treatment re relaxing jaw. Returning for stage two but not apprehensive about it. Highly recommend.
