I recently had ICL surgery with Blue Fin Vision, under the care of Mr Hove, and wanted to share my experience. From the first consultation, the timeline to getting to surgery was pretty quick, with a few tests and a small, pre surgery procedure done in Harley street. I also had plenty of face time with Mr Hove, and his clear explanations and reassuring manner made a huge difference to what is quite a big decision! The procedure itself took about an hour, and it was a little stressful — as you’d expect — but the team did absolutely everything they could to help me feel comfortable and supported. In hindsight, I should have considered the level of sedation I wanted (as I only went with oral diazepam) and I know I could have had this conversation with Mr Hove beforehand if I had just given him a call. I felt throughout that Mr Hove’s number 1 priority was delivering the absolute best outcome possible for my vision. There was some discomfort right after, but by the next day I felt close to completely fine. The 1-week, 1-month and ongoing checkups are incredibly reassuring in terms of monitoring my eye health. Before surgery I had significant long-sightedness and astigmatism, and now I can see clearly without glasses or contacts — genuinely life-changing. Communication from Blue Fin Vision has been excellent throughout, and they were always happy to work around my busy schedule. Overall, I’ve had a fantastic experience and would highly recommend Blue Fin Vision and Mr Hove.

Thanks to his outstanding surgical skill and expertise, my operation was a complete success: the cancer was entirely removed with clear margins, and I have experienced no incontinence and no impairment of sexual function. I cannot recommend or thank Mr Abou-Chedid highly enough.

The staff were so friendly and nice, every single one of them knew my name from day 1 which made me feel a lot more comfortable and safer. The structure of the groups and days were well thought out through. Every group was informative, engaging and interesting. They offer many 1-2-1 sessions to allow for a more focused therapeutic approach, all the therapists and mentors were highly knowledgable and compassionate. The food was great with plenty of options and flexibility. I’m very thankful to have got to stay here.

Mr Davies and his team were excellent. I had a full knee replacement and everything was explained to me and any questions answered in full. He discussed with me how important it was to think through my expectations of how my knee would be after the operation. This reminded me that good recovery also needs work by the patient! My after care was well organised and the nursing staff ensured my stay in the hospital was very comfortable. Walking is much better now for which I am very grateful.

While there were some initial issues due to the practice changing ownership during the run up to my procedure, the new management honoured my original booking and once they were up and running in the new location I don’t think I could have asked for a better service. Everyone on the team was extremely friendly, welcoming and professional and the aftercare was excellent. I am also extremely happy with the outcome of my procedure- would highly recommend!

Spire was brilliant. Clean, Friendly staff, fast process (MRI in just a few days for example). I had a nerve block injection at Murrayfield and I had my own room which was spotless, all the staff were great from the nurse in the ward to the surgeon via the person who brought me lunch (which I could pick off a menu). Would highly recommend (though don’t injure yourself in the first place if you can help it)
