I attended the gastroenterology service with ongoing abdominal pain and a known history of anorexia, as well as sensitivity to medications. During my care, the approach was primarily focused on symptom management rather than investigation. I was prescribed medications including gabapentin and nortriptyline, both of which I had adverse reactions to, similar to previous experiences with medications in those classes. Due to the spacing of appointments, I often had to wait up to a month to review these reactions. Over time, treatment progressed to opioid-based management (Palexia), despite my concerns about opioids, including limited effectiveness for my pain and reluctance to increase their use. A referral to a public pain clinic was declined by the public clinic, and I was advised to consider private care, which was not financially accessible to me. I also raised that I was struggling with the cost of ongoing appointments and felt uncomfortable continuing care, particularly as I felt my anorexia history had been dismissed based on my body size. Following this, I was bulk billed for one appointment, and there were subsequent inconsistencies with billing. There were also instances where responsibility for management felt unclear, including being advised to seek medication management through another specialist, despite uncertainty about whether this would be appropriate. Communication between providers appeared fragmented at times. Since this period of care, my condition has progressed to include gallbladder removal and diagnoses of chronic pancreatitis and mesenteric panniculitis. In hindsight, I feel earlier investigation may have been beneficial. Additionally, I noticed an administrative issue where an endoscopy result addressed to the gastroenterologist was manually redirected to my GP using my last name with “Dr” in front of it, which raised some concerns about handling of correspondence. I appreciate the complexity of medical presentations and understand that not all conditions are immediately clear. My intention in providing this feedback is to highlight areas where I felt unsupported, particularly in relation to medication management, recognition of eating disorder history, continuity of care, and access to services.

Scan was moved from Monday to Wednesday, and I queried this as my booking with the specialist was two hours later. Advised this was no problem as the results would be sent over to him. Logged on for a zoom appointment 2.30 and waited for 40 minutes to be advised that the Doctor did not work at this time. Then received a call for a consultation about 7.30pm from the Doctor. Advised him I did not want to speak to him, and I would get a referral to someone else, and he told me he had an obligation to consult me. Proceeded to tell me about his personal problems and he needed to pick his kids up from school that afternoon due to marital problems. I told him most people in life have problems and his were no concern of mine. Seriously the worst experience I have ever had in medical practices. Bizarre

Dr Gursel was a caring person but communication after the surgery seemed poor. I had asked if I could go into rehab, preferably to Mt Wilga but was told constantly to have rehab in the home. I did not want this for a variety of reasons so, begrudgingly, I was allowed to stay in the SAN rehab for about a week(one day at a time), which I found very stressful. Dr Lam eventually found me a place as a day patient at Mt Wilga. This worked out well and when I completed rehab at Mt Wilga, I was happy to lead my indecent life and move around freely. This was not the experience I was hoping for with Dr Gursel.

I didn’t believe that connecting via zoom would be of any benifit, however I did find that my anxiety was not as heightened and I was lucky to get someone that I was comfortable to talk to first time round. This is very very rare and has been one of the main reasons I’ve never bothered with seeking help, as you grow tired of reliving everything you want to heel from trying to find someone your comfortable talking to. As I said I got lucky so for the first time ever I can say I had a good experience here. I’ve seeked professional help since and have not had the same luck ever again

I visited Molly Clark at the Osteo Centre for a persistent foot problem that was making walking painful. What I loved most was Molly's holistic approach; she didn't just treat my foot but looked at my entire alignment to find the root cause. After a few sessions of gentle joint mobilisation and soft tissue work, my foot feels significantly better, and my overall body tension has decreased. She also gave me great advice on footwear and some easy home exercises. Highly recommend for anyone looking for thorough, professional care!

I was incredibly impressed with my medical care at the San. From the Prehab meetings, surgery, care on the ward, day rehab visits I felt like I had a team wrapped around my recovery. Everyone worked in sync - this gave me a high sense of confidence in my recovery and my ongoing progress. It was obvious that the physios, Drs, dietitians, OT’s, exercise physiologists and nurses were all working with confidence with Dr Gursel to ensure a positive outcome. I had a really outstanding experience.

After waiting weeks to get an appointment with another practice, Neurosciences Queensland responded to my specialists’s referral request within a few days with a confirmed appointment time. My whole experience with Neurosciences Queensland from appointment scheduling to interaction with the front desk staff and the care taken with my exam with Dr. Michael Leitch was exceptional. I would highly recommend Neurosciences Queensland to anyone and will definitely use them again if needed.

Dr Nassar and his team were excellent from beginning to end every step was explained clearly and carried out in the prescribed manner, my only frustration being I arrived at 0600 for first surgery only to be pushed back due to an emergency which I was well aware of and there was nothing the team could do., also I could have been discharged a day earlier on antibiotics whilst waiting for cultures, but overall my pre and post op care was excellent.

Very good communication about the procedure required and a good experience during the procedure. I believe there could be more explicit instructions provided on post care requirements (eg more specifics on how long to keep dressings on, how long wounds must stay dry for). Having said that, I believe Dr Hiscutt is an excellent dermatologist and recommend her highly to colleagues and friends.

Dr English and his nurse Kath were very kind, had good listening skills with an older person. He referred me to St Vincent’s rehab at Kangaroo Point after knee surgery which was great as I live alone. I have made an excellent recovery after the knee surgery and I thank Dr English most sincerely for his care and skill.

I found the toilet paper although thick was very harsh for me who was returning to the toilet regularly before my colonoscopy. I was already very inflamed with spots of blood. It may seem trivial but I am sure there are more like me. I thought post op. reviews were free.
