I particularly wanted to come to Maryvale because I had been there before.
I flew down from Qld to help my elderly dad attend a day procedure. Was advised it would take 3-4 hours but they would call 45 minutes before.l and told me to go home. When the 4 hours had passed and I hadn’t heard anything, apart from the incredible stress, I then tried calling. Every phone number rang out. I find it absurd you give callers options to phone lines that are not manned. I even tried calling the day surgery where he was numerous times with no answer. By this time I am beyond stressed and worried. In desperation I chose the ward option and someone there got the day procedure to call me back. Head to the hospital and again not a soul in sight. No one at day surgery reception so I try the first ward, no one there so I then try the other ward. She tells me to go to reception which I told her I had but there is no one there. She tries to call day surgery and says “if it makes you feel any better, I can’t get through either”. I’m told to go back to day surgery and not a soul in sight. Eventually one of the staff from the ward sees me and uses her card to get me in to where my dad was waiting. This entire process was deplorable. Even a door bell would have been nice so staff know you’re there and if you’re not manning phones, perhaps have a recorded message and an option to call where someone will actually answer. By the time I got there I was in tears as my elderly father is not in good health and how you manage your processes were simply not good enough.

While the staff were friendly, they did not always come back with what they were supposed to.
