Professor Michael Dickinson

2 & 1/2 weeks ago I was someone who had lost 10 kg of weight without trying to. But otherwise no obvious symptoms and I'd say that I felt "90% OK". GP ordered an ultrasound of the abdomen, which very quickly (the same day) escalated to a CT scan which showed I had Lymphoma. My GP got in touch with Professor Dickinson the next day and within a couple of days he had called me to discuss - on Easter Saturday! He arranged for me to be admitted to Cabrini on Easter Monday for a couple of days of tests, scans & biopsies. He visited me on "Easter Tuesday" where he went through the basics of what my situation was, what I could expect, probable treatment and so on. So 1 week after I saw the GP with no illness that I was aware of, I was receiving detailed information. I am a "catastrophizer", and was fearing the worst during that week. But to have Professor Dickinson explain what I had and what lies ahead gave me some peace of mind. In my case my Lymphoma is not as bad as these things can be, but the important thing was I KNEW what I was facing and what lay ahead. KNOWING is the critical thing.

I could not speak more highly of the care that I receive from Professor Michael Dickinson and his team. I always feel welcomed and very comfortable in the consultations and a genuine interest in all aspects of how I am managing the treatment journey. I feel supported 24 hours a day and experience no hestitation in contacting the team if I have any concerns.

I recently had my annual post remission check-up with Michael, which included blood work and a physical exam. As always, he was incredibly professional, and I trust him implicitly. He has a wonderful way of putting me at ease, which makes me feel completely comfortable during every visit. I cannot thank him enough for the care he provided during my initial treatment and for his ongoing support. I feel truly lucky to have him as my doctor.

My recent visit was a routine follow up . It was spot on time meaning no waiting that is always great. We discussed my progress and Professor DICKINSON explained my results etc. I find him to be friendly approachable and very encouraging. One this occasion all good and we left happy.
