Dr. Steven Hatzikostas is an experienced Obstetrician and Gynaecologist. He completed his medical degree at The University of Melbourne. During his medical education, Dr. Hatzikostas also earned a Master's Degree from the University of Melbourne. His passion for research led him to publish findings from his research endeavours conducted at the Howard Florey Institute of Medicine.
Following the completion of his Medical Degree, Dr. Hatzikostas began comprehensive training. He initially trained in Internal Medicine for four years at The Royal Melbourne Hospital before transitioning to specialise in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
In 1993, Dr. Hatzikostas attained membership to the prestigious Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (R.A.N.Z.C.O.G) after completing his training in Australia. Seeking further experience, he moved to England for a three-year period, where he gained additional training in fundamental Obstetric and Gynaecological training.
Returning to Australia, Dr. Hatzikostas has made significant contributions as a Consultant Obstetrician at prominent institutions such as The Royal Women’s Hospital, The Northern Hospital, and Box Hill Hospital. Currently, he continues his work at The Women’s Hospital while maintaining connections with subspecialty staff at The Mercy Hospital for Women.
Dr. Hatzikostas practises evidence-based medicine and is committed to addressing complex medical and obstetric issues through formal investigation and management. He strongly believes in empowering patients to make informed choices and strives to accommodate their wishes and expectations whenever medically appropriate.
Dr. Hatzikostas collaborates closely with various subspecialists, including tertiary level ultrasound specialists, laparoscopic surgeons, urogynaecologists, fertility specialists, paediatricians, neonatologists, perinatal specialists at The Women’s and Mercy Hospitals, and oncologists. His collaborative approach ensures comprehensive and tailored care for his patients.
