My optician knew that I was going to do some research to decide who to go to for my cataract surgery and she recommended Mr Balaggan as she had been following his work for some years. After looking at his website I decided to make an appointment and met with Mr Balaggan, who is a lovely gentleman. After enquiring about my lifestyle and what I hoped to get out of the surgery he patiently went through the different options with me and I decided to go for the latest premium IOLs. Mr Balaggan has now performed the cataract surgery on both of my eyes and I have great distance vision and can also read the smallest print on ordnance survey maps. Having worn distance glasses/contact lenses since the age of 14 and reading glasses/lenses for the last 20 years it’s absolutely fantastic at nearly 63 to be able to pursue all of my hobbies without the need for glasses or contact lenses. I would absolutely recommend Mr Balaggan and his team.

Dr S. Alam Hannan is one of the nicest Dr's I have ever met, he made me feel fully comfortable and the way he explained everything to me so was so clear and understanding, it made any anxiety I had go away immediately. Dr Hannan diagnosed my issue very quickly and set me on a course that will help the issue get resolved quickly and he offered to be available 24/7 if i wished to speak with him which i thought was lovely as most people these days just want you in and out. Dr Hannan took his time with me, made sure all my questions were answered fully and even gave me some other options on what to do that I had not thought of. I cant recommend him highly enough and thank him for his help and understanding in my issue. I am now on my way to being fixed which is great. I found Mr Anwar courteous, polite , very friendly and approachable. I was quite nervous prior the surgery but Mr Anwar put me at ease.. Mr Anwar had a very good bedside manor. He was very informative and professional and I found myself trusting him. Having had such a good experience with Mr Anwar concerning my right knee replacement I only wanted Mr Anwar to do the surgery for my left knee replacement. I would not hesitate to recommend Mr Anwar to friends and family particularly to nervous patients like myself. My experience with Mr Anwars care prior, during and post surgery has been exceptional.. The Fitzrovia Suite was incredible from the moment I arrived in labor to our discharge. The midwifery team was wonderful - each and every one of them being kind, caring, calm, and reassuring. Every decision of my care was made collectively, and they helped the beginning stages of my recovery immensely. The space itself was clean, quiet and peaceful - an absolute pleasure to experience post-emergency cesarean. I would highly recommend the Fitzrovia Suite to others.

He gave me good news which helps! But he was exactly what you hope for in a specialist, treating me as an intelligent client, and we therefore had a proper respectful two-way conversation. He provided complex information at a level that I felt appropriate. He was very skilled with an ultrasound machine too, I had no idea so much could be revealed in such a simple (to me) way.

He is also really thoughtful about what treatment is most appropriate and contacted the hospital to check with the doctor there before proceeding. And no ‘hard sell’.

I found my visits very calming and helpful but the bottom line is that I have to make a decision to have this operation with all the risks involved - hence why I’m having a further phone call from the surgeon tomorrow to help me make a rational decision without fear influencing me, I found the quality of your hospital very high
