I was informed in the email sent for my first appointment that the consultation would take approx one to one and a half hrs maybe more if I was having tests. I saw the consultant and had the tests, this took no more than 10-15 minutes. In my experience of having private consultation I don’t think this was a consultation, I was told someone will call me and give me details of the treatment, I was not given a time or day when this phone call would take place. I tried to ask questions about the treatment but was told they would explain all to me in the phone call. I called next day as I had other commitments the following days and weeks and may have missed their call. I was given the information about the treatment on the phone, I asked if I was paying for this phone call and was told that I would not be charged. I was charged and paid for the tests on the day, after the phone call I later received an invoice for the consultation of £300, so basically I was charged for a phone consultation as I don’t believe I got a consultation on the day that warranted this amount of money. I am really disappointed with this kind of service, I believe if I’m paying for a private consultation I should be given the time face to face so that I can ask questions and understand the treatment that I will be paying for. This was not NHS where you are only allocated a small amount of time, which is why I am so disappointed with this service and the costs which is unwarranted.

From my initial appointment with Mr Hoo, I felt all my questions were answered and felt at ease, from the onset I knew I would choose Mr Hoo as my surgeon. I had done a lot of research for my procedure and felt reassured from my initial appointment. Pauline (Mr Hoo’s nurse) was also very informative and patient regarding any questions which I had. My surgery was booked and due to unforeseen circumstances had to rescheduled, Brenda in appointments was very helpful and offered me a cancellation slot which I was very thankful for. On the day of surgery, I was admitted into the admission pod and here all staff were attentive, I met with the anaesthetist and Mr Hoo and thereafter went to theatre. The theatre nurse and anaesthetist were so lovely, talked me through everything and I felt reassured. Thereafter, in the recovery ward, the nurse was excellent when asked about pain, I was immediately given pain meds which eased the pain and brought upstairs to a room which the excellent care continued. Mr Hoo came to see me and answer any further questions, truly 5* service from the onset. The hospital was spotless and attention to detail by all staff was exceptional.

I attended Luiza’s group classes initially and then moved on to 1-to-1 sessions once I was heavily pregnant. She has an incredible ability to modify exercises to suit each person’s individual needs, even within a group setting. Her attention to detail, precision, and ability to make subtle adjustments made a huge difference to my strength and mobility throughout pregnancy. On top of that, she’s a genuinely lovely and caring person, which makes such a difference when you’re navigating pregnancy. It’s easy to see why her classes are always booked weeks in advance. Her physiotherapy background really shows and adds an extra layer of confidence and safety to everything she does.

On Saturday, I attended Canterbury Hospital at 7:30 am for a minor operation on my finger. Two nurses looked after me and prepared me beforehand. Emma went out of her way to help. I had a very good discussion with the test and we decided that general anaesthetic would be the best route. Mr. Smith carried out the operation and I was lucky to see him afterwards when I came round and he said it had been completely successful. Everything seemed very calm, organised and professional. This was my first appointment with Professor Rajani and it was conducted by telephone. Before my consultation, I had sent over a couple of recent echocardiogram reports as well as some blood and urine test results. This helped form the basis of my consultation. Professor Rajani has an easy-going manner and gave me his professional advice regarding his observations on the reports. I felt very reassured by our discussion and there is no need for me to have a follow-up appointment at this time.

I received shoulder surgery and was able to be discharged the same day. All of the nursing staff were friendly and informative, the physio treatment and advice was informative. All the staff I came across were very friendly. I especially enjoyed the roast dinner which was hot when served (a new experience). I would highly recommend Mr Khan and the London Independent hospital.
