I was referred to the Horder Centre for hip surgery as an NHS patient and the difference between that experience and my experiences in NHS hospitals couldn't have been more different. As it turned out, I also had two brief stays in an NHS hospital at around the same time, and experiencing a busy trauma ward in the Royal Victoria hospital in Brighton was pretty terrible. Unusually, I ended up having to have two operations in Crowborough on the same hip, so I was there for several days in all, and though no one really wants to be in hospital they do make every effort to make your stay as comfortable as possible. You get a single room with a TV (Freeview) and your own en-suite bathroom and fresh towels are brought every day. For a start, the staffing levels were brilliant. Someone was always on hand if I needed pain relief or anything else for that mattter. For every staff shiftI was allocated a care worker and a nurse, all of whom were absolutely lovely. They will help you with anything including a bed-wash or shower and if you have any questions they can't answer themselves they will find someone who can. I was regularly offered pain medication and if I felt I needed some in between rounds I had only to ring the bell beside my bed and I was usually able to have it. The food is good and plentiful and the menu choices provide plenty of variety. The staff who bring round the food as well as a trolley offering hot drinks or fruit juice are cheerful and friendly as well as punctual. Even the housekeeping staff were lovely. Although I'm sure all the staff were busy (for example, the care assistants take care of 6 patients on each shift), no one ever seemed to be under too much pressure and they always had time for a chat. They will arrange transport two and from the hospital if you need it, whether in an ambulance or by car, and even the drivers love working there. Some of the staff I met have worked there for many years, which speaks for itself. If I were referred to the Horder Centre rather than an NHS hospital or further surgery at any point I would feel confident that I would be well taken care of.

I recently saw Mr Ng, and was very impressed with his approach. He was thorough, knowledgeable and took the time to explain everything clearly and patiently. I felt that he genuinely listened to my concerns and provided balanced, evidence-based advice without rushing the consultation. His manner was calm, reassuring and professional throughout. I left the appointment feeling hopeful in treating my condition. It’s worth noting I have seen 10 other urologists about this same complex condition and no one else has come close to cracking the case compared to Mr Ng. It’s quite refreshing to meet a urologist that acts like a detective and carefullly evaluating all my symptoms to come to a logical conclusion. He has gotten further than any other urologist I have met to date in the 12 months I have been suffering from this wretched disease. I would highly recommend Mr Ng to anyone seeking expert urological care.

Hamstring tendon rupture Having suffered a sports-injury complete tendon rupture/avulsion of the L-hamstring and had AXA-PPP refer me serially to three previous, different orthopaedic consultants who - as it turned out - lacked corresponding specialism, I was very glad to finally be put in touch with Mr. Culpan. Paul's first-hand experience with hamstring repair surgery facilitated knowledgeable discussion and a balanced assessment of available options. I found him to be both approachable and professional, and appreciated his team's co-ordination of a related MRI scan and follow-up appointment for imaging review. I would recommend consulting with Mr. Culpan for hamstring trauma & repair.

Prompt replies from both Gina on reception, and Dr Emma Noble, asking about my travel plans and countries, appointment arranged and before you know it, I am fully prepped & ready to go. Dr Paul Wiseman was masterful. I had to get 4 different vaccines and barely felt anything. Very personable, put me at my ease. Pointed me to the websites recommended by Department of Health / Foreign affairs for most up to date advice and important steps I can take as a traveller (hand washing, mosquito nets etc). She took the time to genuinely listen to my concerns and followed up with a thorough examination. She promptly arranged for further tests, and once the results were back, she explained everything thoroughly and clearly. Miss Gandamihardja provided reassurance that my issue was nothing serious and even gave me detailed leaflets for better understanding. I was also very impressed that she is taking the initiative to follow up directly with my GP for further blood tests. Her professional and caring approach was outstanding.

Can’t say enough good things about Mr Sarker. He was fantastic when I presented with what I thought was a minor soft tissue injury in my finger which turned out to be a tendon sheath infection and an emergency, calling local A&E and sending me there with a written explanation of his findings resulting in me having surgery that day at at NHS hospital. Ever since he has been forthright but kind and honest and considerate, and excellent at explaining options and prognosis. I think I genuinely owe him very much for doing what he did and probably saving a large portion of the current function in my finger. A fantastic consultant.

I was seen by Mr Scott after having Cataract surgery a week ago. I've had a Trabeculectomy operation a few years ago as I have glaucoma . So I have been a pasiënt of Mr Scott for 20 years. It is because of his excellent care and experience, that in spite of my glaucoma ,I still Ienjoy good sight . Mr Scott is an amazing Surgeon . He explains the procedures in a calm and clear manner and his aftercare is second to none . Moorfields Eye Hospital is very fortunate to have this fine Surgeon and caring human being as part of their team. It was an honour for me to be able to write this review .

The Doctor I saw for my Health Examination (Dr Munraj Gill) made the whole experience probably my best experience with a health care practitioner. He made everything completely comfortable whilst maintaining an efficient pace to get through all that needed to be done. I was in and out quicker than I anticipated but at the same time did not feel rushed. Thank you for this experience and restoring my faith back into the healthcare system. This is an excellent hospital that I feel fortunate to be able to attend. The overall environment is comfortable, pleasant and relaxing. All staff encountered including Reception, Nursing and Pharmacy are very professional, polite, efficient and considerate. The lady I encountered on Reception on my recent visit went out of her way to make pleasant conversation, despite being busy. My son who usually accompanies me normally finds disabled parking which he requires.

Mr Chipperfield replaced my left hip in June and at my meeting with him when we discussed my right hip replacement I told him he had a hard act to follow due to the fact my first surgery had been such an outstanding success....
