During my first visit, I felt uncomfortable with some of the comments made. A remark was made suggesting I had “gone posh” because of where I now live, which felt inappropriate and unrelated to my care. I was also advised to book a scan “at my own convenience” with enough time to “get a wax,” which did not feel professional or relevant to the medical appointment. At my second visit, I was informed that my blood results showed no signs of menopause, although a low thyroid result may mean I need medication next year. However, I did not receive a clear explanation as to what may currently be causing my symptoms. Remains of a virus I suffered from late year or it was suggested that eating processed or ready-made food could be responsible for my aching joints and muscles. This felt like an assumption rather than a discussion based on my individual circumstances, and I left without a proper understanding of what might be happening or what steps I should take next.

I recently had surgery on my right hand middle finger to remove a blood vessel malformation, and I couldn’t be happier with the care and results I received from Dr Lawton. From the outset, he was incredibly calm and reassuring, which immediately put me at ease. The surgery itself was meticulously performed, and my recovery has been excellent so far. Professor Akolekar has been absolutely Fantastic at every appointment all the way throughout our pregnancy. I was really struggling with anxiety in this pregnancy following recurrent miscarriages, and I have never felt more looked after, which has really helped me to be able to enjoy this pregnancy, knowing we have a fantastic consult looking after our baby. Appointments are always on time and very detailed, time is always made to answer any questions fully and I always leave feeling confident and reassured. I required a caesarean birth because my baby was in the breech position. Stelios was really warm and kind. He offered me a scan on the day to check if my baby had turned the right way around before the surgery. He listened to my birth preferences (delayed cord cutting and skin to skin) and my preferences were respected. I am sure this contributed to the success we have had with breastfeeding and my baby seems very healthy. My incision is also healing well, I did not have any infection or complications and we were able to go home after just staying for one night in the hospital, which I am very grateful for.

I was extremely nervous having had a bad cataract surgery experience previously. However the staff went out of the way to make me feel comfortable, with a particular shout out to Bruce who was calm, funny, knowledgeable and held my hand throughout the procedure. Mr Ainsworth was warm and kind, it was good to meet him before the surgery. The whole procedure was explained and was over so quickly. It was a very personalised experience and my recovery has been quick and straightforward. I cannot recommend Newmedica highly enough, particularly for nervous patients.

Having been for a much longer and more complicated surgery, a year ago, I already knew that I would be in good hands for this, more minor procedure. The staff as so attentive and friendly, it was lovely to see most of the same familiar faces and to be remembered by them. Everything is exceptionally clean and I felt very well looked after, my consultant saw me before and after the procedure and kept me well informed. The anaesthetist also explained everything that would happen, answering any questions.
