Dear Dr Gulati, You must get these kinds of emails on the daily but I just personally wanted to briefly write to you to..thank you on behalf of myself, my family and friends for literally changing my life and my “face” forever. The past four weeks since my surgery, absolutely everyone has commented how much my whole demeanour has changed (I had no clue of it!) from looking “permanently with pained eyes“, to one of complete calmness, looking happy & relaxed, not to mention how my gait & walk has changed! As cliched it sounds, it’s truly a life changing operation (I watched the full video by the ⭕️ Circle Health Group) a few days after my discharge and despite it looking like something one would do during roadworks rather than a human body, I’m flummoxed as to how well my body has responded and is recovering! I can only attest that to your skills as my bedmate and others I’ve spoken to had severe pain for weeks after their surgery. It’s truly masterful, what you do and your ever-present, on hand abilities to answer even the most seemingly obvious questions, with calmness and patience, my partner and I knew that I’d be in the best hands Homerton had to offer, holding onto this hope carried me through this COVID-19 lockdown period knowing that you genuinely care about your patients. You are not just another NHS worker (who erstwhile deserve Much credit) but are brilliant at what you do! Were it not for your initial assurances upon my initial first appointment right on through to the surgery..I never for a minute thought that I wasn’t in safe hands. The last few years have been...tough, I resorted to desperate means to alleviate my pain (as you and Dr Hadi tried countless times, beyond your remit, to assist me with helpful solutions, even direct calls to the Dr & Owner of my previous practice) when my prior two GP practices failed to help. I’m proud to say that with my current GP I’m tapering down and expect to be free of strong painkillers for the rest of my life within two weeks. But for slight recent anemia, I’ve always been healthy and free of any/all diseases & I view this operation, which occurred just five days prior to my birthday as a kind of rebirth. New hip joint new me! Whilst my long distance & marathon running days are probably over for good, I’ll seek your advice perhaps in our follow up appointment in two weeks, as to how I intend to stay fit going forward. So until then, thank you 🙏, from the bottom of my heart.

I first visited Jonathan about my hip almost two years before the operation. My hip was scanned and Jonathan carefully went through the results with me giving me a detailed picture of the state of my hip. Although there was damage his diagnosis was that 'you are on a long road, at the end of that road is a hip replacement, but you are not there yet'. He was honest and clear. Almost exactly two years later I returned knowing I had reached the end of that road. The operation was quickly arranged and performed at the Chelsfield Hospital. I was home after two nights in the hospital. The operation went very well and recovery has been remarkably quick. I am now happily returning to my normal active life but now pain-free. I cannot thank Jonathan enough for his care and expertise throughout the whole process.

Mr Sheeraz is the best doctor I have ever met, His explanation of my Hip condition (AVN) and its treatment options, was so clear, a difficult decision which I was avoiding for years was made so easy for me. Seeing my 3D scan and then the pictures of my hip replacement. Then explaining the risks and length of stay. Also answering my ridiculous questions, that also so patiently indeed put my mind at ease. The team then looked after me so well, I was awake during my surgery and walked the very next day and home a day later. Now im walking unaiided for the first timw in 2 years. Words are not enough to thank you and your team.

A hip replacement operation sounds daunting; after all, it can last up to 2 hours and recovery can take several weeks, return to full mobility after several months. My experience at the Highgate Hospital in May 2018, under the expert care of Mr Saksena was pain-free, with only three days in hospital, walking on crutches the day after the operation, and recovering at home. After discharge at 6 weeks, I returned to pain-free driving and breast-stroke swimming. From walking with a limp for a year, and feeling pain after walking no more than 300 m with a walking stick for several weeks prior to the operation, I can now walk without worry as far as I have to. At nearly 70, I am glad I had this operation which has provided me with full mobility and renewed excellent quality of life. Mr Saksena has been caring and supportive at all times.
