I had been experiencing tingling and numbness in the fingers of my right hand which Ms Umanji identified as carpal tunnel syndrome. At my initial consultation she gave me an injection in the right wrist which immediately relieved the sensations. Unfortunately, as predicted, the relief was temporary and a second consultation resulted in an operation to release the trapped nerve. Ms Umanji explained very clearly what to expect and her forthright and practical manner reassured me during the operation. Six weeks later the wound has healed very cleanly and I have full sensation in the fingers of the right hand hand allowing me to function normally.

Tucked away, the clinic had a bright and airy interior. A warm welcome greeted me at the door and I was swiftly directed to reception. Unlike some medical waiting areas it felt comfortable and homely. I noted they had security was at the entrance, which was reassuring. A cheerful receptionist checked me in efficiently. The waiting area was pleasant, offering a variety of hot drinks including still and sparkling water, biscuits and snacks. I asked for a taxi on leaving and the lady at reception explained they didn’t have a direct telephone number, but would get a colleague to wave one down for me. Very thoughtful.

Follow up appointment after an operation which Mr Balega performed exceptionally as I had previous operations which added potential complications. Mr Balega was exceptional when performing the operation taking care and speaking with my husband straight afterwards. Today's visit was to discuss the operation and subsequent results. He explained very clearly and succinctly each element of the operation and the results. Mr Balega has always been engaging during all my visits and answers any of my questions and ensures that I full understand each element of the process.

I highly recommend Dr. Farooq Maniyar, who is a super expert consultant neurologist. I received great treatment, including a successful Greater Occipital Nerve (GON) block, in the period leading up to my pregnancy. Now that I am pregnant, Dr. Maniyar has expertly tailored my ongoing treatment to ensure its safety and effectiveness. His approach is brilliant, working in perfect, complementary coordination with my NHS Obstetrician. It is deeply reassuring to have such an expert managing my condition during this critical time.

My overall experience was excellent, from the reception staff, being taken to the room, the 1:1 pre-operative discussions with Dr Lowe and Dr Barnard, to the nursing staff (continuity of the nursing staff and Daisy's approach and empathy), the theatre team and the post procedure care. I mentioned to Dr Lowe how impressed I was with the communication between the theatre team, which provided a great deal of confidence. I should also mention how well they communicated with me on a 1:1 basis explaining what they were doing.

The C-section itself was handled in an extremely professional and calm manner at The Portland Hospital. All of the midwives were exceptional; kind, reassuring, and incredibly supportive both during the procedure and throughout my recovery. The post operative care was excellent, and the team went above and beyond to support us as first-time parents, offering guidance and reassurance whenever needed. Dr Kapur was incredibly informative and really gave my daughter a full understanding of the products being prescribed, why they were being prescribed, how they worked, what to avoid and how she should manage her skin regime going forward. We left feeling far more educated on dermatology especially in relation to teenage hormonal skin. The products she advised were inexpensive and the routine she now has to follow far easier to manage. The staff were all extremely friendly, approachable and knowledgeable, being happy to answer all my questions and put me at my ease. The procedure was quite uncomfortable at times but the staff were on hand to reassure me and to warn me when to anticipate some discomfort. Once the procedure had been completed, the discomfort totally dissipated and l haven't felt any pain at all since - none whatsoever!
