I had a Teams meeting today with Angela about my nutrition, as I’m looking for ways to gain weight. She was completely non judgemental, incredibly warm, and made me feel comfortable throughout the whole conversation. She never made me feel bad about my eating habits and was very kind and understanding in the way she worked with me. She gave me really sound advice and clear, practical feedback on how I can improve things going forward, particularly around healthy weight gain. I wasn’t sure what to expect going into the meeting. I half expected to be told to cut out lots of foods and start eating things I didn’t like but instead, she took the time to understand what I like and don’t like to eat. Overall, she was extremely helpful, supportive, and approachable, and I genuinely appreciated the session. I thought she was great.

I visited Dr Shaffer on recommendation from a fellow gym member as I developed lumps in both hands. My GP had advised me that they would not treat Dupytrens until my fingers actually began to contract. I had a 30 minute consultation at the Cromwell Hospital which resulted in advice to monitor my hands for 2 months to see if there was any deterioration. Very impressive service. Dr Shaffer was very clear that it was early in the condition. His advice to potentially ease off in the gym to avoid hand trauma was the not the best news for a gym addict! But clearly correct. I will now measure my hands movement and flexibility periodically and revisit if it shows signs of getting worse. Thank you

The support at the very beginning when I was accessing the service was excellent - the person I first communicated with was helpful, gentle and kind. Dr Coker always presents in a professional yet approachable manner. She is very clear in explaining any tests results; her treatment plan; and any further investigations she thinks should be undertaken. The language she uses is accessible.
