Dear Justin I wanted to write to you and thank you and your staff at the Spire Fylde Coast Hospital Blackpool, for their outstanding care and support to me in the build up to, and both during and after my total hip replacement operation Monday 17 November 2025. Following a series of appointments from October, I had the operation under a spinal anaesthetic, conducted by the excellent Mr Shah with support from the equally high calibre consultant anaesthetist and his team. I was kindly afforded the courtesy of a private room which was very comfortable and this was especially helpful, postoperatively, when receiving visitors. All the staff involved both in the build up to the operation, and both on the day and afterwards were absolutely wonderful in their approach and went way beyond all expectations, to ensure I was relaxed and comfortable throughout the day and overnight. My wife is a retired trained Nurse with over 40 years experience and she was highly impressed with the clinical standard and professionalism and the caring attitude of everybody involved. This was a classic case of the healthcare at its optimum best. As the CEO of the Spire Fylde Coast Hospital Blackpool, you and your Board colleagues should be rightly proud of each and every one of the team that delivered this outstanding patient and family member experience. I have been very happy with my overall experience at Vision Scotland Edinburgh. The staff were both friendly and professional. I was well informed regarding my choices and the procedure. I have been thrilled with the result of the cataract surgery. I was given an appointment very soon after the referral. I would however like to let you know how I felt the experience on the day of the operation could have been improved. Firstly I was not sent the Post Op information which would have been most helpful to read before the procedure. Secondly I got very cold in theatre and was given a blanket but it did take me ages to warm up. It would have been better to have been given a blanket before the procedure started. There is a lot of cold water being used which does add to the chill. Thirdly I was not told to bring sunglasses for the journey home or to bring analogies both of which I would very much appreciated as I lived over a hour away. On the journey home I became extremely uncomfortable. Finally the roof of my mouth and tongue got a little burnt I think by the coffee as they must have been a little bit anaesthetised still when I had the coffee. The coffee however i have to say was absolutely welcome and the best thing along with the toasted teacake. I found it very reassuring to have a telephone number to call which I did use. I also very much appreciate the phone call from the nurse a couple of days post op. I hope you find the above comments of use. I do not wish to criticise as overall it was an extremely good experience and I would and have already recommended Vision Scotland. ( I did tell my neighbour to ask for a blanket!)

I attended Spencer Ashford Hospital which was easy to find and was able to park nearby in the carpark using a Blue Badge displayed. Access was at ground level with no steps. Reception staff greeted me straight away and booked me in, provided necessary to complete my procedure. Toilets were easily accessed just off Reception and there is a water machine free. All staff including the medical team that I saw were engaging, jovial yet professional. The atmosphere was calm and relaxing with about three patients waiting. Mr Georgios Papadopoulos explained the procedure that I was undergoing in depth and was unrushed and very calm and inquired whether I had questions. His team were as fantastic ensuring that I was at ease throughout. At no point did I feel under pressure to leave after the procedure.

It's not easy when you find out that you are going to be in hospital for a long period of time, especially when it is for a life threatening diagnosis. But Ranjana made me feel safe and comfortable from the first day. She explained everything to me clearly, offered me a safe space to feel emotional, explained to me about what was going on in my body and allowed me to not only come to terms with what was happening but also get through it. Every niggle, worry and symptom was treated with care. knowledge and I got through it! There are not enough words for me to express what a fantastic doctor she is and how in a scary situation I felt like I could trust her completely. I will forever be grateful that she is on my team.

I attended an appointment with my mum as she has been referred for cataract surgery. Upon arrival we had a warm friendly welcome. When mum was called in I explained to the lady that mum is profoundly deaf and she lip read's and asked if she could look at mum when talking to her. Naz was absolutely amazing, she spoke clearly and looked at my mum when speaking and explained everything to her. Both myself and my mum were really impressed as it's not easy for my mum when people don't understand her deafness. The lady we saw after Naz was good with mum too. With our experience yesterday it put our minds at rest that mum will be helped and understood when she goes back for surgery.

I had an excellent experience with Dr Bhandari. He was very attentive and took the time to genuinely listen to all of my concerns. I took my 14 yr old, slightly awkward son to see Mr Buddhev recently and he was fantastic with him. Mr Buddhev put Jonathan at ease and spoke directly to him in language that he could understand. Mr Buddhdev was particularly respectful of my son's sports focus and recognised what an important part of his life it is. My appointment with Dr Guy Haywood was very good. - Dr Haywood had read the briefing information I supplied about my condition. - Dr Haywood interviewed me to establish how my atrial fibrillation was affecting me. - Dr Haywood examined me and my ECG and then explained very clearly the available treatments and their limitations. I am now happy that I have a better understanding of my condition and the options open to me if my condition starts to impact my activities.

This time however was a totally different experience! Mr Clough was thorough with his explanation of the procedure.
