The experience with Dr Thom was excellent. I had attended the ED and SDEC departments at Medway Hospital and seen six Doctors during those visits. All these Doctors were friendly and at the time I thought thorough in their examinations, but none of them could diagnose my problem. A annual blood test had shown my CRP level to be high so my GP, whom I have actually never met in person, referred me to SDEC unit and despite having numerous blood tests, an abdominal ultrasound and a CT of the chest , abdomen and pelvis they could not diagnose my problem. I had the CT scan on 15th August . The Registrar in my last visit to SEDEC told me to keep phoning the Hospital to progress the CT results. I tried this and went around in circles until I spoke to a helpful lady in the Imaging department. She said she could not talk to me about my results, but suggested I contacted my GP surgery and got them to chase the results. Over the next few weeks I went into the surgery and asked if the results were back, but nothing. Finally in late September the GP receptionist emailed the Imaging department at Medway Hospital. She phoned me that evening and said the results had been sent to the GP surgery at Court View, Darnley Road, Strood and that they were now with the GP. She said that I should go into the surgery the next week. I did this and asked if the results were clear . The receptionist said the results were with the GP. I asked when he was likely to look at them as it was now well over 6 weeks since the scan, she said she did not know and that if all was clear I would not hear from them. This frustrated me as I would have know idea when the GP got around to looking at the results . We then decided to go private. My wife Daphne came with me and we told Dr Thom the whole story and my current Symptoms. Even without examining me he diagnosed my problem as polymyalgia rheumatica . He then gave me a physical examination and sent me for blood tests. He prescribed prednisolone 15mg. Paying out for a private GP like Dr Thom was well worth the money. I repeat myself by stressing how excellent he was. What is difficult to understand is how he diagnosed my problem within 10 minutes when the Doctors at Medway could not. Perhaps if my GP had seen me, rather than saying he was referring me to SEDEC he might have diagnosed the problem. We cannot thank Dr Thom enough. Just knowing that I have a problem has removed so much stress from our lives. After taking just one 15mg much of the pain has gone.

I attended Optegra Eye hospital Manchester for cataract lens replacement on both eyes. Jack came to see me pre op to check that I was feeling ok about the procedure. All the pre op staff were excellent in making me feel less nervous. The operation was completely painless and Jack’s commentary throughout the procedure was extremely reassuring and helped me relax. After the operation I was given all the necessary eye drops with detailed instructions on how to use them. The overall results have been beyond expectations, even the day after the procedure I could see clearly without glasses.

Mr Ahmed is always professional but so personable and is super efficient with making and communicating my appts and results.

When I had an unexpected bandage change at one point (for comfort), he personally called me (on a Sunday) to check in with me. Had asked in advance for gluten free food kept getting gluten or no clarity. Tea coffee making facility for guests patients is unsafe & ineffective. Care is good. Staff are caring and well trained. Food and beverage still leaves room for improvement especially for any special requirements.
