I had a Rhinoplasty here with Lucian Ion. I'm grateful to all of the staff at the hospital for making my stay so comfortable; the room was clean and comfortable, and whenever I needed help the nurses were quick and helpful, plus the food was really good. The surgery and anaesthetic itself went smoothly, and it was re-assuring to talk to both surgeon (Mr Ion) and anaesthetist (Dr Warwick Marchant) beforehand, and then see Mr Ion multiple times after the surgery. When I was soon to be discharged from the hospital I momentarily (for a few minutes) felt very rough; the hospital staff were really friendly and there wasn't any rush to discharge. One thing I did note is that there wasn't always complete consistency between the surgeon and the hospital, e.g. on the admission time, or on how to clean the wounds, so I would suggest trying to improve this (the patient, at least speaking for myself, isn't always a reliable intermediary), however this was a very minor issue.

The service I received from Dr Shergill and everyone associated with him, was first rate from start to finish. Having had a very blunt and brief NHS diagnosis it was a relief to find a clinician who took the time to talk about what had been found - a Bcc on the side of my nose - consider how/why it might have happened which I found helpful - and talk through what would happen next. His team also seamlessly connected me with the plastic surgeon for the repair required which was the most concerning aspect for me. On the day, everything ran to time and he was amazingly skilled, removing the growth first time in about 5 minutes. I didn’t even feel the injections. Everything was clearly explained and carried out efficiently. You couldn’t ask for a better or more highly skilled doctor. Thank you.

Got my Somnowell mouth guard fitted at Causeway Dental in Teddington. Highly recommend the dentist. She was great. The guard really does work if I’m sleeping on my side. My partner and I now sleep together in the same bed! I’ve had the guard for about 6 months- don’t wear it every night as we don’t live together. It does feel a bit weird to wear but I have got used to it. It’s not so useful when I’m on my back as I tend to breathe through my mouth and will snore then. This Somnowell information does address this issue. I would really recommend it - and have - if you snore a lot and have sleep apnea as I do. It really works.

I had to book a blood test after seeing a consultant and a follow up telephone appointment for the next week. I sat and waited 45 mins for my blood test and then had to go and ask at Reception how much longer I would have to wait. The original Receptionist who booked it had gone home. I was then seen within 10 minutes. Also follow up appointment had been booked as face to face when I specifically said “telephone appointment”. Luckily the consultant remembered he said to book telephone appointment and rang me at the specified time. Two mistakes by the same receptionist. Not good

The Spire has excellent facilities (car parking, waiting area, consulting rooms etc) and the reception staff are very attentive and helpful. The “formal check in” using an iPad is an unnecessary hurdle for patients to negotiate. The earlier system of just checking in with the receptionist was much better. My appointment with Dr. Balerdi was on time and a very useful session. Re. Dr. Balerdi himself, my very postive comments are in an earlier section.

Downstairs work being done to the building. Noisy and lots of stuff/materials over the waiting room floor. I found the whole experience poor considering this is a private paying surgery. I understand the work needs to be done, however for a patient it is not ideal by a long shot. Not a relaxing atmosphere or acceptable. This is the second time I have been and the same building work being done.
