My experience with Mr Wong was fantastic, at my first appointment, he explained everything clearly and calmy and I found that I had time to ask as many questions as wanted as i didnt feel rushed. He explained all the surgical risks. When it came to my surgery,l was pleased to find that i would be staying overnight and would have a drain inserted, after research I found that this isn't always common practice with thyroid surgeries but down to the preference of the surgeon. (I could be wrong, but i beleieve this is the case as i was upgraded to overnight stay) It gave me confidence that Mr Wong is thorough and professional, not only for the procedure but also after-care too. in my opinion, my scar looks very good post-op and is neat and there has been no signs of infection. minimal bruising or numbness. I believe he is a very skilled surgeon-he managed to precisely put the incision in an existing crease in my neck whilst also avoiding a tiny mole that I wanted to keep. l'm no surgeon, but I do think that requires a certain level of skill. If I require any future thyroid surgeries, (hopefuly not!) given the choice,l will not hesitate to go back under Mr Wongs care again.

I was seen by a young male dentist (apologies, he did tell me but I can't recall his name and it isn’t listed on the website – perhaps he is new). He was professional, informative, and efficient throughout my appointment. As I’m allergic to local anaesthetics, fillings can be particularly uncomfortable, but he was very reassuring and took great care, as did the dental nurse. By far, this has been the best service I’ve experienced at the practice to date. My only critique is not directed at the dentist himself, but rather the practice’s policy. Over the past couple of years, I’ve noticed that patients cannot book a filling replacement directly without first having a pre-booking consultation. This essentially doubles both the cost and the time needed off work. In my case, a chipped filling was causing pain due to decay, and it was obvious that a replacement filling was required. I had to insist several times when booking that I did not need a pre-assessment, only a filling appointment. Given that I am a private patient and a silver filling costs almost £200, being charged for an unnecessary pre-booking simply to confirm what is already evident feels unreasonable.

I was a little nervous about visiting the clinic as I had never been to a private practice before, but my experience was excellent from start to finish. The receptionist was very approachable and welcoming, which immediately put me at ease when I arrived. The health practitioner who saw me was calm, professional, and attentive. He took the time to discuss my previous health conditions and was able to pinpoint some of my concerns while offering clear, helpful advice. The health assessment itself was quick but thorough, and I felt reassured throughout. What impressed me most was how well everything was explained, from accessing my results to the range of other services available, including mental health support. I was also given practical guidance on how to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Overall, I left feeling very reassured and impressed by the high standard of care. The atmosphere was relaxed, the staff were supportive, and I would definitely recommend this hospital to others.

I went to my consultation with some trepedation as I didnt know what to expect but I was quickly put at ease once the consultation began. I was impressed with the detailed checks and scans that were carried out and everything was clearly explained at each stage. I was quiete surprised to be told that I wasnt ready for treatment at this stage and that any improvement that they could make for my reading vision, could potentially, make my distance vision slighly worse than it is at the moment. i was really impressed at the honestly and professionalism of the Consultant who gave me his honest opinion and did not try and sell me a procedure that I didnt need. For me this is very comendable in this day and age, Perhaps in a number of years time my situation will have changed and I will not hesitate to return to Cathedral for further advive/ analysys.

I arrived at the appointed time, checked in with the receptionist given forms to complete which I completed & handed back to the receptionist, after waiting half an hour passed my appointment time I was still waiting to be seen, eventually my partner asked a male nurse if Mr Patel was running late, and we were told that we were the next to be seen, when we were invited in to see Mr Pater he was very apologetic for keeping us waiting saying that there had been an administrative error whereby he had been told that I hadn’t arrived for my appointment, Mr Patel commented that he thought that was strange as the paperwork I had compieted on my arrival was on his desk. So he realised that I was there but nobody had apparently bothered to check.

Mr David Houlihan-Burne

From initial consultation, the robotic assisted total knee replacement surgery, through to Mr Houlihan-Burne personally removing the staples and reviewing the result, the interaction has been exceptional. Mr Houlihan-Burne was clear in communicating the state of my knee, quick to understand what I was looking for, to explain what he thought could be the outcome - together with the risks, and post op in explaining that the surgery has gone exactly as planned. I have not had to deal with any substantial pain, and I have a clear rehab plan with his recommended Physio. I feel confident that I will be able to play Golf, tennis and ski in relatively short order, provided I follow the rehab plan diligently.

Dr Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos is an excellent thoracic surgeon. Totally comfortable with his skills, communication and bedside manners. I thank him, his team and all the nursing staff who cared for me during my recent thymus surgery, pre and post surgery visits. The warm and clean hospital environment, the friendly lobby and check in staff are fabulous too! Everything was seamless and efficient. My 6 month post surgery went really well, and I have now been discharged. After several years of extreme chronic pain and almost complete loss of function of my right arm, I am now able to do almost everything, with relative ease and only some discomfort, which is actually far less than I anticipated. My main objective now, is to keep building my strength by continuing my physiotherapy at home. I intend to go from strength to strength, literally! Thank you Mr Wijeratna. And thank you to my amazing physiotherapist at NGH! I am happy beyond all expectations!

The spire Elland was a lovely, clean hosptial. My room had recently been renovated, which meant it felt clean and comfortable. The staff were all nice, regularly bringing me hot drinks and heat packs for my symptoms. A particular shoutout to the team conducting my anaesthetic, I was quite overwhelmed/concerned and they really supported me and put me at ease. I would definitely consider spire elland again for my treatment.
