I had my first consultant appointment yesterday, regarding a hernia condition that was flagged by an NHS consultant earlier this year. I saw Dr Richard Novell. In the lead-up to the appointment, I had managed to get the referral paperwork, but no scan imagery. On meeting Dr Novell, he informed me that scans were useless anyway for Hernia diagnosis, and he then proceeded to examine me. After this, he told me that I didn’t have a hernia, when I asked about the fact that another specialist had examined me and thought differently, he agreed that doctors tend to give different answers. My issue, is not that he dosen’t agree with another consultants opinion (as well as the person who conducted Ultrasound) but that I am currently in pain, which is harming the quality of my life, and when asked about next steps to resolve this, he had nothing to offer, when pushed he offered to speak to a colleage for a second opinion. So in terms of empathy, it's pretty frustrating, and I have to be honest, it's a complete waste of time from my perspective.

I recently had an excellent consult with Dr Gary Dorman at Kingsbridge Ballykelly. I am very happy with every aspect of the experience, but especially my appointment with Mr Dorman. I was on the NHS wait list for 1.5 years before making a private appointment for a prolapse Bladder (cystocele). I wish I had booked with Kingsbridge when I was diagnosed. As the prolapse and lack of expert information on my condition, left me wary, and my quality of life suffered for 18 months. Dr Dorman is an expert in this field and also a wonderful communicator and listener. I felt at ease during the consult and exam. He listened, and clearly explained everything including my options and his recommendation. I also received sound advice and guidance about what I could do, via diet and exercises, to help my situation. On leaving the appointment I felt great relief. I was in expert hands and left with a clear plan to sort my problem. I couldn’t speak more highly of my experience with Dr Dorman and Kingsbridge Ballykelly. Thank you so much.

I recently visited following a referral from a different department. I have been trying to find the cause to pain I have been suffering from since jan 2024. Today I had the answers. I can’t tell you how happy I am that it’s nothing serious. Dr G Smotra performed 2 ultrasound scans on me and was so friendly and kind during this that I was instantly put at ease. There were 2 other nurses in the room who were so lovely and asked if I was ok and kept ensuring me that I was doing well. Afterwards DR G Smotra sat down with me and explained all the findings from the scan plus a previous ct scan, she really had time for me which I don’t usually feel within other departments. I do need to return in the future and I hope that I am always under her care. Thank you I am so greatful.

I had my suspicions as to what was happening to me. However, going down the general NHS GP route was not getting me anywhere. They kept treating each symptom individually rather than looking at me as a whole. A few years of going backwards and forwards. Stress! With Dr Nikki, within the 30 minute consultation I felt heard, all symptoms were put together and a treatment plan was formed. It all made sense and everything was explained. Medication prescribed and ordered, report received and a report sent to my own GP, all within a few hours. Future follow up already booked. That is what you call professionalism, efficiency and having very knowledgeable doctors who understand the female body. Wish I had booked them sooner. I would highly recommend them.

Due to my individual circumstances there was some confusion in relation to payment and that spilled over onto me personally as well as causing stress across the whole procedure at the outset. This was resolved but exposes the fact that some attention needs to be paid to the way things are looked at and handles when the circumstances fall outside of the general conventions of the service provided. In the end it was all sorted out but the initial confusion and stress could have been avoided. I have no complaints but was a bit surprised at the apparent chaos at the outset. I have no idea if any one aspect was to blame, I think it was probably general confusion in relation to gaps in communication between the parties involved in payment etc.

Wonderful care from good staff but the bed was uncomfortable and the room was too small and felt airless and too hot. But the main thing is that hopefully this surgery will enable me to have a better quality of life. I already feel that my powers of concentration have improved and my brain is working better. It seems to me that once the soreness and itchy neck skin heals I will be back at the gym in January feeling thirty years younger. The hospital has done a good job and staff team are excellent. My only recommendation is that you knock the building down and build some more comfortable bedrooms with good ventilation with some comfortable beds for tall people.

This was my first experience of private health care. All staff are welcoming the clinic is very clean. It was self service to Refreshments but that's not to clear. I think it would've been nicer to be offered a beverage when you check in. I found myself being forced into this option as the nhs weren't listening. I met with Dr. Howie (GP) I found it such a relief just to be heard. It has only taken 1 visit and 1 review appointment to help with my menopause issues. i have been suffering for many years and it has ovly taken 3 months to solve going private. Thank you!!

On Monday 1st December, at 12.30pm, I attended the ONE Ashford Hospital, for a total knee replacement. Within a short space of time I was ushered into my room, and eventually changed into a theatre gown. I was then taken to be prepared for my operation. This whole process was pleasant, reassuring, and very professional. Afterwards, I was returned to my room, and given all the attention I could wish for by the nurses, physiotherapists, and catering staff. Nothing was too much trouble for any of them, likewise for the Tuesday, when I was discharged in the afternoon.

My appointment with Miss Panter herself was excellent. She answered my questions very helpfully and proposed a treatment plan which was exactly what I’d come for, with careful explanations and kindness. I found there was quite a high level of confusing and duplicated ‘admin’ in the run-up to the appointment: emails requiring me to fill in form after form in an unhelpful (to both of us), confusing and anxiety-provoking way. But the actual appointment with my consultant was very good.

Just needed a referral for an overseas routine scan and I achieved what I needed. NHS in their wisdom won't provide scans for those with a strong family history indicator which is fine but utterly absurd not to provide a referral just because a CT machine (superior to most in the UK) is located overseas. These scans can be life savers and it's useful that this provider can fulfil the common sense role that the NHS abdicates responsibility on.

Mr Clarence Yeoh was very professional and intelligent and gave me a detailed account of the range of movements of my shoulder joint and a descriptive analysis of the x-ray. The detail of the osteoylis of the clavicle and the alignments issues were picked up by him which is explains the pain I have been in for such a long time. I look forward to the next appointment with him.
