The Portland Hospital truly felt like a five-star hotel combined with exceptional medical care. From the moment we arrived, everything was calm, organised, and incredibly well run, making what can be an overwhelming experience feel reassuring and even enjoyable. The facilities are outstanding, the rooms are beautiful, and the level of comfort is unmatched — but what really makes The Portland special is the people. The care we received from the midwifery team was absolutely exceptional. In particular, midwives/nurses Lucy and Anna were truly wonderful. They were kind, attentive, reassuring, and incredibly supportive, always taking the time to check in, explain everything, and make us feel completely cared for. Their warmth and professionalism made such a difference to our experience and helped us feel confident and supported every step of the way. The aftercare was equally impressive, with genuine attention to both mother and baby. Every member of staff went above and beyond, and nothing ever felt rushed. We are so grateful for the outstanding care we received and would highly recommend The Portland Hospital to anyone looking for exceptional maternity care in a calm, luxurious, and supportive environment.

Dr De Burgh Thomas telephoned me today as a follow up to my appointment in the HH clinic on 30/12/2025, with news of some test results, and to advise me to stop taking the antibiotics I was originally given as they are ineffective against the 2 bacteria which the tests have shown are present. He said he would call me back when he had checked which antibiotics would work for both bacteria. He duly did, and I will collect the medicine and start the course tomorrow. Dr De Burgh Thomas has also asked me to attend the clinic on Monday for further testing to rule out diabetes. I have found him to be friendly yet professional, and has answered all of my questions clearly. I feel reassured, and hope that the change in treatment will be effective.

From the moment I met Mr Karamanakos he was he was very attentive to my needs, explained every aspect of the procedure to correct my hernia. He went into great detail of my options as to which procedure would be best for me and that would produce the best results. After the operation he came and saw myself and my wife and spent time explaining what had happened during the procedure and what I should and should not do to ensure a good recovery. In the follow up appointment he again spent time with us on how I should proceed over the next 1 month. His explanations were very clear and easy to understand. Mr Karamanakos was very professional and was very easy and approachable throughout the whole time I was under his care.

I have received nothing but the upmost care from all staff. The parking is simple on arrival and great to have disabled spaces immediately outside for collection post op! I have always been called through to my appointments on time and at times even earlier if I've arrived early myself. The staff that have stood out to me and taken wonderful care are Louise, Ruby, Jessie in the surgery department and Sandy in the post care department. Everywhere is always clean, with a warm welcome from reception. It's a lovely touch to use the drinks machine in the waiting area, the hot chocolate is delicious. I cannot fault any of my treatment or care by the Mcindoe staff, its exceptional.

Dr Arif Hassenbux and his team were very efficient, very clear instructions given ref. ERCP procedure. I was extremely impressed with the swift and careful treatment by Dr Hussenbux because I was extremely scared and this was day 6 of my A+E ‘journey’ and I was becoming extremely fatigued with added complications due to delay of 5 days plus waiting for my urgent operation- due to no beds and then no space in theatre for my operation. All of Dr Hassenbux team were very good and worked well as a team. They probably saved my life! The people in Endoscopy are excellent and need to be replicated across the NHS as an example of the pursuit of excellence. Thank you.

Following an unsatisfactory outcome with a previous surgeon, Mr Gnanachandran has taken it upon himself to rectify the situation. From our first consultation, he has been extremely knowledgeable and understanding, particularly recognising my understandable difficulty in trusting a surgeon again. He took the time to answer all of my questions thoroughly, provided clear and honest advice, and ensured I fully understood my options. Although my surgery is scheduled for 7th January, I already feel confident that I am in capable hands and have faith that he will do his utmost to achieve an improved outcome.

Dr Mugilan was excellent in finding out what was causing our son's headaches . The MRI was done within a few days and Dr Mugilan talked us through the results and made referral to the Neurosurgeon . Excellent service and very thankful for the care and understanding. We were very anxious but Dr Mugilan explained everything about chairi malformations and listened to us and answered all our questions. Excellent paediatric consultant and we would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone worried about their child .

I had an excellent experience seeing Dr Wamil and would highly recommend her. From the outset, she was extremely thorough and reassuring, taking the time to listen carefully to my symptoms and medical history rather than rushing to conclusions. Dr Wamil explained the possible causes of my symptoms in a clear and balanced way and recommended a cardiac MRI to investigate further. She took the time to explain why this test was important which made me feel fully informed and confident in the decision.

The doctor and nurses here are very kind and really helped me during a nerve wracking procedure that I was highly anxious for. I do think given how much we pay for these appointments, that the facilities could really use a revamp. It fees tired and dated in the common areas and the toilets were not very clean. On top of that, you can never find a parking spot, which adds extra anxiety to pre appointments.
