Approximately one year ago I experienced a sudden increase/spike in my heart rate when exercising on the rowing machine. My usual heart rate for a steady state training session was between 130 and 145 BPM. This time it suddenly spiked up to about 180 to 190+ bpm, and it would not come down quickly enough. I am quite fit for my age and never had such issues before. As this had never happened before, I did get in touch with my GP and eventually I had a 24hr Holter monitor fitted. The results did not reveal anything that was out of ordinary. But, a month later, I was at an indoor rowing competition, when my heart rate suddenly jumped to 226 bpm and I also experienced headaches. I then decided to use my wife's BUPA family health insurance and I had my 1st appointment with Dr Qasim in July 2025, at Cromwell Hospital. What struck me was his friendly and professional manner. He asked numerous questions about my lifestyle, my past or existing health issues, if any, and the sport I am involved in, rowing. He listened very carefully, patiently and sympathetically to all my concerns I had regarding my symptoms. He was also very reassuring, and I left the appointment feeling a lot more optimistic. Dr Qasim booked several thorough tests and, following the test results, I am now on medication that controls the atrial fibrillation symptoms. I have regained confidence in training harder, and I am now able to race without worrying. I also have regained the confidence that I am not going to have a sudden heart attack or a stroke! As it happens, very soon, I have an appointment with Dr Qasim, to review the last few months since I last saw him and the efficiency of the medication prescribed and obtain a final diagnosis. I am confident that I will able able to control the Afib symptoms and any possible complications, with Dr Qasim’s help and expertise.

There was a lot of confusion in regards to my follow up appointment post surgery. An appointment was booked and agreed for Monday morning, another appointment was booked for the afternoon in addition to the morning appointment, which I tried to rearrange for the following day and recieved confirmation, that appointment I found out later had not been booked and one was made for the following week, and I had called to confirm the appointment for Monday morning too. I found out later that the Monday morning appointment was cancelled but I was not told this until I arrived for the appointment early. Gill at reception was extremely helpful and was immediately on the case to help me as this was a wound check appointment. She spoke to Nikki and Bev and I was able to be seen very quickly. I appreciated all the help I was given by Gill and she helped me create my next appointment for 6 weeks time and navigate the situation well. The appointment itself was informative and very good. I believe there was a mix up with the lists for the day and it seemed to be that everyone just got confused with what appointments for me were needed to be rearranged/ cancelled. Everything was resolved quickly and calmly, and I thank everyone for their help in resolving this.

My experience was very positive and I was given very clear information on the procedures that would deal with my particular very chronic symptoms which had affected the quality of my life very badly over several years.My GP was helpful and we tried several different medications which did not deal with my symptoms and caused worrying side effect. Following my consultation with Mr Muir I decided to go ahead with the procedure which was straight forward and was moderately uncomfortable for 2/3 days and not particularly painful. Recovery for me was very quick and I followed the information and advice given to me from the team. There are follow appointments to ensure that recovery is progressing as it should. I wish I had the treatment earlier and the quality of my life has changed for the better in so many ways.

I highly recommend Miss Mez Aref-Adib. I’m 39 years old and had a 6 cm fibroid that caused heavy bleeding and severe pain. Dr. Aref-Adib performed my laparoscopic surgery and successfully removed all of the fibroids. She was extremely attentive to my condition after the surgery, followed up closely to make sure everything was going well, and was always available to answer any questions I had during recovery. Three months later, I feel so much better, and there is only a very faint mark left from the stitches on my abdomen. I highly recommend Dr. Aref-Adib—not only because she is highly skilled and professional, but also because she is genuinely kind, caring, and responsive.

Mr Thomas took the time to listen to my story and concerns and ensured that he addressed any questions that I or my husband had during the consultation. His explanation as to the cause of my pain and the review of my MRI scan was very clear and aided by the use of a 3D model of the spine where needed. He outlined a clear management plan and I felt that I had met a clinician who had listened to me and taken the time to tease out the probable cause and devised a clear management plan. The consultation was easy to arrange and everyone in the Harley street clinic was helpful and efficient. I would highly recommend Mr Thomas.

He is a positive, confident and experienced surgeon / consultant who put me at ease, listened to my understandable concerns and immediately took decisive steps to meet my needs. I have been given guidance and advice at every step; clear outlining of the diagnosis, the proposed procedure and the post surgery support available. From the initial outpatient appointment to the procedure , everything was smooth and pleasant. I didn’t have to wait long when I visited the facility and it was not difficult to book appointments for further treatment. Karla, Michele and all the nursing team were very kind , thoughtful and accommodating. The atmosphere was calm and relaxed and they didn’t leave questions unanswered. He listened to the issues, and gave lots of clear information before allergy tests were carried out. His knowledge and presence really gave such a reassurance. My right eye cataract was operated on by Mr. Wearne a couple of years ago and I was very happy to go back to him when I needed my left eye operated on. This time I had a Rayner Galaxy Toric Multifocal lens put in my left eye. I am very pleased with the results - my vision is now excellent. Occasionally, I need to wear reading glasses ( not a prescription just a pair bought from any shop) if I am doing some close work or reading small print in poor light.

He explained the procedure to me during the consultation, and I had undergone the same procedure with another consultant in the past. I was expecting the same type of pain. However, Marco Bolgeri's technique rendered the procedure painless. I am very happy that my GP recommended I see him.
