Mr Tev Aho ; HoLeP Review ;October 2025 I was introduced to Mr Aho in October 2025 after my BPH prostate issue of 15 years became troublesome in a matter of weeks; I attended my local A&E as I could not empty my bladder due to something happening in my prostate, resulting in my being catheterised for 7 weeks; My prostate was given an MRI by the NHS, that showed an anomaly , and i was informed i should consider losing my prostate, as Surgery was my only option; I was 66 yrs of age at the time of the surgery; I spoke with Mr Aho, who is an absolute gentleman, with a fantastic bedside manner; He listened to my situation, explained very clearly what a HoLeP would involve, and we agreed to proceed; The procedure took place in London just 12 days after my discussion with Mr Aho, and all went well; I was discharged the next day, in my case with a catheter after my 2 months with one, and this was removed after 6 days; Once removed, i had no issues and found that i now had a high pressure ‘firehose’ when i urinated; I experienced no leaks, incontinence , ‘accidents’ etc, and only a mild tingling sensation where the equipment had been inserted for the procedure , that passed after a few weeks; After the catheter was removed, life returned to normal instantly; This is far better than the other surgery options, that can have ongoing issues , and I can’t thank Mr Aho enough for his skills and accepting me as his patient; The alternatives open to me were to horrific to consider; If you are considering this procedure , In my opinion, its by far the best option, and from a patient point of view, simple, quick, home in 2 days, and life gets back to normal fast; Mr Aho is without doubt a Godsend, of whom i have no hesitation in recommending .

My baseline pain has reduced, my sleep posture has changed significantly (I am no longer waking with my body tensed and elevated in the way I had for years), and I feel more rested with better overall energy. After two decades of persistent symptoms, even these early changes feel significant. For the first time in many years, I feel genuine hope that progress is possible and that the correct anatomical target may have been identified. I am sincerely grateful for Dr Alkholany’s expertise, professionalism and compassionate approach, and I would highly recommend him to anyone dealing with complex or longstanding pain.

If you are a woman facing decisions about ovarian surgery and feeling unsure what to do, this review is for you. Before meeting Dr Abedin, I had already been advised elsewhere that I might need removal of the ovary and fallopian tube, possibly through a vertical open incision. It was an overwhelming prospect. Dr Abedin approached my case differently. She listened carefully, assessed everything thoroughly, and explained that preservation might still be possible. She did not minimise the complexity, the cyst was very large (20-25 cm), but she balanced realism with sound surgical judgement. The operation was completed laparoscopically and my ovary was preserved. I am deeply grateful, and my recovery has been smooth. My recent visit was 27th Jan 26 for an Annual Review and my request to consider any further testing considered appropriate. Professor Leyva-Leon was timely with the appointment as usually the case. The Professor knows my case well after a number of years consulting and treatment for atherosclerosis and related aspects having diagnosed me as asymptomatic. As I understand it I am doing well and present as fit with regular exercise. We discussed any further testing and the Professor is to carry out an echo update. In considering anything else consideration was to be given as to whether a profusion test would be constructive or not. The Professor always explains his thinking and has an excellent patient manner which I value. As a none - medic I rely on his expertise. Based on my experiences over a number of years I have felt confident to recommend his services to colleagues.

I have have had previous eye surgery at NW Eye specialist Centre under the care of Dr Bhargava, and was entirely satisfied with the care received and outcome of my operation. On this occasion, I received a very prompt appointment which I was grateful for. The environment in Bangor was spotlessly clean and the receptionist and nurse were very friendly and professional. My consultation was thorough and Dr Bhargava gave explained to me with care and attention the nature of my symptoms and I was given a treatment plan to follow and a follow up appointment to check progress in six weeks. All of this was verified by a consultation letter that was also sent to my GP on the same day. I am very grateful to receive this high standard of care and attention from all of the team involved.

I found cathedral eye clinic a very warm and welcoming practice, its staff were friendly and attentive, the specialist (Gillian ) that dealt with me kept me kept me well informed of the process throughout the eye exam which did put me at ease. Sadly for me my eyes are not suitable for the procedure required, this proved to me that it is not all about pounds shillings and pence with them. Hopefully down the line they can come up with another procedure that will suit me. I would have no hesitation in recommending cathedral eye clinic.

Back on ward the nurses were so lovely. I had a wobble (previous trauma) which unexpectedly made me emotional.
