My experience at GenesisCare Surrey was amazing. I chose to have private MRLinac radiotherapy for my prostate cancer in order that my treatment would have the minimum impact on my life and I was not disappointed. I was given an initial appointment within a week of getting approval from my health insurance. As my partner and I were travelling from some distance and staying in Guildford during the 11 days it took for my five treatments, the radiographers were very flexible in arranging the dates to suit us. GenesisCare offered to pay taxi fares for us to travel each time, but as the distance was too far we chose to stay and were amazed when they offered to contribute to our hotel bills, The building was modern and purpose built and the reception area was pleasant, bright and the staff friendly with tea, coffee and snacks on tap. Parking was easy and right outside. The MRLinac suite was similarly well done and the radiographers were friendly, helpful and keen to make things as easy as possible. It was nice to be taken into the control room to meet the team rather than them being shut away behind the glass. All of my treatments started on time and the last two appointments were rearranged so we could leave a day early. The whole experience felt more relaxing than attending a normal medical establishment, in fact more like being at a high-tech research institute. There was a follow-up call from a radiographer after we had been at home for a week to check how I was doing. The MRLinac treatment gave me very little in terms of side effects during the treatment or afterwards and meant we able to explore Guildford and the surrounding area when I wasn't having treatment. The whole experience was much preferable to the standard radiotherapy which would have involved 20 treatments over 4 weeks with months of hormone treatment. I felt confident that the use of MRI scans during treatment ensured the radiotherapy was precisely targeted to give the best results and to limit any damage to other organs. It did require me to lie in the machine for 25-40 mins and to ensure my bowels were empty and my bladder was half full at the time which was a bit tricky. The radiographers were very patient in giving me advice and support to help me achieve this although some more advice at the beginning would have been useful. If you have the option to have treatment at GenesisCare then I can thoroughly recommend it.

My father was seen short notice on Wednesday the 5th of November which was very much appreciated. Unfortunately he did not have a good experience on his visit. The consultant came to see him in the waiting room and made him roll up his trousers and examined him in front of other people in the waiting room. He made him walk across the room with his trousers rolled up and as my father's hearing is not good he began to talk really loudly to him in front of these other people. I was with him and to be honest it was very degrading and embarrassing for a 79 year old man. He more or less told my father to get on with it and stop taking any antibiotics that were prescribed by his GP. My father ended up having an infection in his knee but unfortunately this man was very dismissive when my father said the knee was sore and had a lump on it and made us feel like we were just bothering him.

I had an exceptional experience with Dr Navaratne from my initial consultation through to my post gallstone removal check up. It was never certain that the gall stones were causing me the issues I was experiencing and Dr Navaratne was thorough and diligent in his investigations before we reached the conclusion of surgery. During that time he went over and above to respond incredibly quickly to me out of hours to provide reassurance and options for the next step. I had a complex surgery which thanks to Dr Navaratne was successful through key hole surgery and avoided future procedures/pain. I will always be incredibly grateful for the kindness, professionalism and expertise of Dr Navaratne during a very difficult time and would recommend him to anyone in an instant!

I had an operation at this hospital few day ago on the 6th of November by the amazing consultant Mr Jag Chana! To whom I am forever grateful in how kind, caring and professional he is and the most wonderful job he’s done with my operation! As for his team of anaesthetist, his lovely nurse Kate Zimmerman and all the nurses and other stuff on the ward ( apologies that I don’t know all your names) that looked after me before and after my operation I send my sincere thanks and gratitude! Every single one of you was beyond words professional, kind, caring, friendly and respectful! I am short of words in how to thank you for all the care and kindness you showed me during my stay! The hospital is so very fortunate to have you all as their members of staff! 🌟❤️

I had a facelift and blepharoplasty under twilight anaesthesia a week ago and want to share how delighted I am with the whole experience. I do not react particularly well to general anaesthetic and sometimes my blood pressure drops dramatically , but this was actually quite pleasant. I got to lie down under a nice warm blanket and drifted into what I felt was a short nap. In reality it was 4 hours later and Mr Britto had done his magic. I was soon able to eat a light meal and to go home a couple of hours later. There was no “hangover “ feeling . It is a pity that this type of anesthesia is not used more widely. My dressings were removed today and I am looking forward to seeing the final result once the swelling has subsided.

The experience of having a hip replacement it was absolutely brilliant friendly place a friendly face brilliant doctor very happy with my new hip. I never expected it to be sore professionally done. I am so happy with the doctor that I had at the new hit replacement. nobody knows how happy I was the next day. I’m walking around without no pain now thanks too my Docter but I would like to say a very thank you to him and a brilliant job that’s he’s done and making me feel very comfortable and at ease thank you Docter Christopher Brew I I would recommend anybody who has a hip problem to get it seen to not being biased by my Docter Brew thank you once again

Nurse caused me to bruise during a painful blood test. I always have trouble with veins appearing during tests and told the nurse which one tends to work the best; nurse insisted on going for a different one, causing pain and bruising. Nurse also used clumsy and offensive language when talking about another patient: “A man came in the other day - he’s a ‘they’ - he…”. Given that your clinic markets your service extensively to trans and non-binary people, I find it surprising that your staff wouldn’t see a problem with openly and deliberately misgendering a customer. Please do better to avoid making customers like me feel alienated.

I visited Mr Whittaker following sudden sensorineural hearing loss. Following diagnosis and discussion of treatment options, he performed a series of intratympanic corticosteroid injections. They resulted in a partial recovery of my hearing -- a very good outcome under the circumstances. I felt I was in excellent hands and am very grateful to Mr Whittaker for his professionalism and kindness. Special thanks also to his private secretary Branka who is extremely responsive and well organised.

Dr Koa-Wing takes time to listen carefully and then explain what is happening in the heart, where the issue is, in clear terms which are easy to understand. This was my last appointment with him and the whole experience has been really good. Thorough tests, really good communication during treatment, and reassuring in manner,, which is what is needed when you're so poorly. This appointment was no different. Even though I'm recovered, the care and communication was just as good.

The Spire has excellent facilities (car parking, waiting area, consulting rooms etc) and the reception staff are very attentive and helpful. The “formal check in” using an iPad is an unnecessary hurdle for patients to negotiate. The earlier system of just checking in with the receptionist was much better. My appointment with Dr. Balerdi was on time and a very useful session. Re. Dr. Balerdi himself, my very postive comments are in an earlier section.

From day one I was pleased to have good flexibility in the knee which quickly improved further with physiotherapy. Mr Gleeson gave me great confident from our first meeting. I felt that he cared and put me at ease. Information about the procedure was clearly given and questions invited.

I arrived at 9.05 for an appointment at 9.30 am. Checked in and waited approx 3 minutes and was called by Mr Sapare and escorted to his room. After an examination and explanation of my before and after surgery he gave me advice on how to proceed to full recovery. I was back in my companions car by 9.20. I would recommend any one if offered the the chance to attend the Spire Hospital to go and get treated there.

He rather shrewdly realised that teh clean might be difficult for me and it was postponed. I was feeling a bit under the weather and he had picked up on that.
