Miss Shazia Malik was my named Consultant in the event of complications during my pregnancy and intrapartum care. My primary care was provided by the excellent midwife-led team at the Portland Hospital. Miss Malik reached out to introduce herself and offered lots of helpful advice and tips as I prepared for childbirth. Her proactive communication ensured I felt supported and informed during my pregnancy. After a very positive vaginal delivery, I experienced a retained placenta that required removal in the operating theater. Miss Malik arrived late at night and provided care that was calm, kind, and reassuring. Her presence at that critical moment was invaluable to me. The removal of my placenta proved to be a complex procedure. Thanks to Miss Malik’s expert clinical judgment, I received the appropriate care necessary for my recovery. She not only coordinated my ongoing treatment but also ensured that I was referred to excellent clinicians to further support my progress. Miss Malik treated me with a level of compassion and personal attention that made me feel so safe and cared for.
