Mr. Christopher Sutton is a highly experienced general and upper gastrointestinal surgeon, based in Kettering, Leicester, and Nottingham, specialising in bariatric surgery, acid reflux surgery, and gallbladder surgery, alongside endoscopy and weight loss surgery. He practices privately at Woodland Hospital, Spire Leicester Hospital, and BMI The Park Hospital, while serving as the Lead General Surgeon and Upper Gastrointestinal Surgeon for University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust.
Mr. Sutton is recognised for his innovative practice, particularly in acid reflux and weight-loss surgery. He was the first surgeon in the UK to perform the endoscopic suturing procedure using the Overstich device, a revolutionary technique assisting with weight loss, and the Stretta oesophagus reconstruction operation for post-obesity surgery reflux. He also became the first in the East Midlands to implant the LINX System device for acid reflux.
Mr. Sutton graduated with an MBBCh in Medicine in 1993 from the College of Medicine at the University of Wales, followed by junior surgical training in South Wales. He later completed his senior surgical training and higher degree in cancer research in Leicester. He gained specialist experience in upper gastrointestinal and obesity surgery with University Hospitals of Leeds, now Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, and trained in laparoscopic gastric cancer surgery. Additionally, Mr. Sutton has international experience, having visited the Cancer Institute Hospital of the Japanese Foundation for Cancer Research in Tokyo.
With a special clinical interest in acid reflux treatment and weight loss, Mr. Sutton is a member of the UK Reflux Interest Group and a Fellow of the British Obesity Surgical Society. He was awarded the first surgical fellowship in the UK by the Society and also holds a certificate in laparoscopic obesity surgery from the European School of Laparoscopic Surgery in Brussels. In addition to surgical solutions, he now offers medical weight loss advice and treatments with Wegovy and Monjaro.

Today was a follow up after 6 months. Couldn't be happier with my progress. Very happy I chose Chris and he's team. After lots of searching and reviews I Chose Chris and extremely glad I did.
A telephone check-in with was professional and concise.
Follow up appointment 10months on from Gastric sleeve surgery, as always Mr Sutton and Emma his nurse are so supportive and took time to answer and explain my questions. At all times I have felt supported and encouraged to question, without their honesty I would not be in a position to have my hernia fixed or be healthier than I have in 6 years. I 100% recommend Mr Sutton and team for weight loss surgery, someone has to have that initial honest conversation so you can take that first step back to health
A follow-up to hernia surgery, it was a real pleasure to meet Chris Sutton again. You just know that Chris is extremely experienced and very able. Coupled with some natural humour, one could not be in better hands.
I had a gastric sleeve with Mr Sutton; kind caring and honest about options and what to expect . Ongoing care post op was supportive and consistent. Always able to provide advice and options for moving forward . I am very happy with the outcome .
Very happy with the procedure and my interactions with Chris. Calm and clear in his explanations, happy to answer any questions. Good sense of humour too.
Mr Sutton put me entirely at ease from the moment he introduced himself. I was anxious but left feeling calm and suppoorted. I felt he listened to my concerns and was patient and clear in his explanations.
Post operative appointment with Mr Sutton, helpful and informative.
Review for Chris Sutton (Surgeon) and Emma Sutton (Nurse and Aftercare) Honestly, these two were brilliant from start to finish. Before the surgery I was in a bad way. A hiatal hernia, a lot of acid reflux, burping all the time, and real pain every time I lifted anything. It was getting me down day to day, so I knew something had to change. From the first time I spoke to Chris and Emma, I felt looked after. They talked me through everything, answered every question I had, and I felt confident going into the surgery because of how they guided me through it all. Surgery day itself was great, went in on the Saturday night and was discharged Sunday, and the care I got in there was spot on. First couple of weeks after were a bit ropey if I'm honest, and I did get some of the side effects that can come with this kind of surgery. But because they'd already told me exactly what might happen and roughly when, none of it caught me off guard, I knew it was normal and just got on with it. For about the first three weeks I was liaising with Emma quite a bit, and honestly she was fantastic. Any time I wasn't a hundred percent sure about something and needed to check if it was normal, she'd get back to me really quickly. That quick response made a massive difference, it put me at ease and kept me calm, and that kind of support is such a big part of the overall service they offer. Seven weeks on now and I feel like a completely different person. No more constant pain, no more reflux dragging me down. Chris and Emma were attentive, genuinely caring, and just really invested in me get...
