I had four visits to Sarum Urology and New Hall Hospital, with my wife. The first visit was to see Mr Johnston, which was a very busy outpatient surgery. However once in front of Mr Johnston, he had the scans and reports from the NHS Hospital at Winchester, which had suggested that Salisbury and HoLEP would be necessary. We discussed the need for the operation, and he answered our questions. He explained that the normal wait would be extended because of holidays, but it was reasonable at 2-3 months. We then returned just before the operation for a pre-op assessment and advice with a nurse, which was to the Hospital itself, so very straightforward. For the operation I was treated in the New Hall Hospital, Salisbury, which had a very relaxed atmosphere. The room was excellent, and the food and teas etc straightforward. I saw Mr Brewin and the anaesthetist before the op. the weather was good so we could even have a walk around the grounds. in the afternons following the op. Post operation checks and tests with the ward sister gave excellent results, such that I was home within 3 days. I was advised on the test results to the removed material, and this was followed up 3 months later by Mr Brewin. No problems found at all.

Mr Samuel Rajaratnam

I would highly recommend Mr Samuel Rajaratnam. Having had a previous knee done with another surgeon who was also very good but this time the experience was completely different. Mr Rajaratnam has a whole team supporting you during the surgery and post operatively. The pain was very minimal due to the techniques employed during surgery which included a spinal block, a lignocaine block above the knee being replaced, which meant I was able to get off the bed for the first time with no pain at all. Throughout my time in the hospital I was visited daily by the anaesthetist,Barry Phillips, Mr Rajaratnam and his physician. They spent time assessing my pain and mobility and adjusting my medication accordingly. They also have a consultant nurse, Christine Howis who is available when you are at home if you have any problems. Sam also has a team of physiotherapists who see you in your home so you do exercises that are specifically designed to get your knee strong as quickly as possible. I know how important post operative care is post knee replacement and it is amazing that Sam has a team that does just that. It really was an incredibly positive experience.

Steven was always kind and patient, listening to me. But more importantly, he was asking the right questions which made me really think about how I ended up where I was and what I can do to get back to my happy self. He was always there for our sessions and in a way the sessions became my comfort zone when I felt lost. Few months with Steven has helped me return back to myself, feel happy again and over the course of these, have changed my life for the better. I cant recommend Steven enough as a therapist. My NHS wait was over 12 months for surgery and a friend recommended Mr Khan in Banbury. Best experience I could have wished for. Totally supported from first contact by Mr Khan and his admin support. Phone call appointment where my history and test results were fully discussed and explained. Surgery discussed and arranged. Surgery was as planned - completely successful with one tumour removed. I instantly felt better and am recovering well. 4 week follow up - Mr Khan explained in more detail the findings and what to expect. Very supportive and offered further support if needed. Mr Khan is one of the most grounded, open consultants I ever been in contact with. I so appreciate his skill set and high communication standards. I would recommend him in an instant Nobody wants surgery but this was very necessary and I am now starting to get my life back.

The front desk staff are very friendly and efficient and Courtney, the physio that I've been seeing, has worked really hard to get me back to a pain-free full range of motion after an injury. I'm not quite there yet and there's been ups and downs en route but Courtney has constantly adapted and I have full confidence that we'll get there. I've seen physios before but Courtney and the experience at PSM St Paul's has been head and shoulders above any treatment that I've had previously.

I’m new to the practice, having previously been with a Bupa dentist, so the experience felt quite different. My recent visit was to see the hygienist, and while the appointment went smoothly overall, I did feel that it was quite brief and didn’t focus as much on the deeper, more thorough cleaning I’m used to. Additionally, I usually receive tailored advice during my visits, but this time there wasn’t much guidance offered. Perhaps it wasn’t necessary, but overall, it felt as though the hygienist wasn’t as thorough as I would have expected.

I was 3rd in line but still got there at 8:30. This meant I was waiting around for 2 hours. Then on the other side of the procedure everything was so stressed and rushed. I took a little while to come round but literally as soon as I opened my eyes I was being hassled to contact my husband to come for me/to get dressed/to go to the toilet/ to eat. It was really horrible. No-one took my cannula out, I had to ask and that was done in such a rush. Then I was sent to reception still feeling very woozy and vulnerable. Not what I was expecting.
