I feel very fortunate to have had my chemotherapy and radiotherapy at GenesisCare Cambridge. The standard of care is excellent and everyone at the clinic is friendly and welcoming. While spotlessly clean with fantastic facilities the centre doesn't feel overly clinical. I really like the holistic approach to treatment at GenesisCare and particularly benefited from the exercise medicine clinic which took me from gym phobic to regular gym goer with huge benefits for my physical and emotional wellbeing. GenesisCare go above and beyond to make treatment less arduous, from providing really comprehensive support to prevent or mitigate unpleasant side effects to offering a complimentary taxi service to and from radiotherapy sessions. Another plus of GenesisCare is that the consultations are never rushed - there is always time for questions and I particularly appreciated my consultant taking time to talk me through the treatment options and providing really clear answers to all my questions.

The appointment itself was very positive. Dr. Robert Gordon was calm, validating, and genuinely listened. The room was quiet, warm, and set up like a cosy study, which made it feel safe rather than clinical. He explained the diagnostic impressions clearly at the end in a way that finally made sense, and it didn’t feel dismissive. I left feeling understood in a way I haven’t experienced with other services, although the level of positivity felt unexpected and left me a bit uncertain about how to interpret it. The only issue was the arrival process. My appointment was in the late evening, and reception was closed. It wasn’t clear where to check in, and I had no phone signal. I had to rely on Wi-Fi and the website photos to work out where to wait. Overall, despite the initial uncertainty about the building, the clinical experience was extremely positive. Everything went smoothly, and the assessment itself was very professional.

From my first consultation and throughout the process, everything was explained clearly to me. Mr Ferris' website gave so much invaluable information as to how the whole proceedure would take place, and what to expect. I had cataracts removed and lens replacement on both eyes on the same day, all the staff were very friendly and kind, and Mr Ferris was very reassuring. The whole procedure was over within half an hour and I felt no discomfort at all. Removing the eye shield the next day, I was completely amazed at how vibrant colours were and my ability to see clearly, I was able to read without glasses for the first time in years! Five weeks on I am delighted with the results and would have no hesitation in recommending Mr Ferris, and the procedure is nothing to worry about!

My overall experience was excellent. However when I got home I found I wasn't completely sure/ had forgotten exactly when and how to take all the medicines I was given and when to stop e.g. how slowly to reduce the codeine when I didn't need it any more. Clearly printed instructions to take home would have been reassuring straight away and later. I know I could have rung the Horder Centre any time for advice but at 82 years old my hearing is less than perfect and I worry I shall not remember everything I hear afterwards. The Horder hip replacement book is excellent and is still a constant source of referral and encouragement.

I recently underwent arthroscopy on my knee with Simon as my consultant. I would rate the service I got from Simon as exceptional. He listened to me patiently and asked me what I wanted out of the consultation. The options available were well explained as were the risks and benefits of each option. Following an MRI, I opted for surgery and on the day Simon popped into my room to chat me through once more what he would do and what would happen afterwards in terms of recovery and rehabilitation. I was really worried going into theatre and the whole team were caring, professional and inspired confidence. The injections in your face are very uncomfortable but apart from that the operation was painless and I felt the whole team were doing their upmost on my behalf. I recently saw Mr Sedra for coccyx pain. At my consultation he was very compassionate and extremely knowledgeable. After referring me for an MRI it was confirmed that I had coccydynia, which is indeed what Mr Sedra had initially suspected. The recent visit was as a follow up on a glaucoma condition and after cataract had been remobed. Despite being very early for my appointment I was seen almost staight away. After further analysis of my eye functionx it was suggested that I might benefit from laser work to allow additional light through to the inside of the eyes and to open further the drainage channel in the left eye.
