    Mr Edward Westcott

    General Surgeon

    5.0

    Verified

I had 5 surgeries in Barcelona, where I nearly lost my life. It began with a really sharp pain in my abdomen, an emergency operation because there was sepsis and a perforation in my sigmoid colon. - a life threatening condition. The barcelona doctors closed the perforation, but, unfortunately, the colon started to leak. There was a buildup of fluid and a stone then dislodged itself from my gall bladder, which was extremely extremely painful. Another emergency operation took place. But, while in the OR, my vitals started to fail. Perhaps not knowing what to do, the doctors decided to stall for time, and put me in an induced coma for 5 days. Long story short, many things went wrong - i ended up losing my appendix, gall bladder, parts of my stomach (there was so much bleeding). There were 3 more procedures, but I survived. I left spain with a mesh in my abdomen, a colostomy bag, no core muscles in my abdomen (they had been moved to the side to accommodate the mesh), 30% less blood in my left leg (they had accidentally nicked my iliac artery), and a huge ulcer on my left foot (i spent 7 weeks in the hospital, most of it in the ICU, and i was not moved much). For most of the year, i rehabbed slowly. I learned how to live - survive, really - with a colostomy bag, and consulted with the best doctors in Manila on how to remove the colostomy bag (the procedure is called a reverse Hartmann), how to remove the mesh, and somehow restoring my core muscles. None of the top doctors consulted were comfortable preforming the reverse Hartmann. “Too many adhesions - it may take 8 hours before we get beyond the adhesions”, said one. “The reverse Hartmann is the most difficult procedure that a rectal surgeon can perform”. “Your intestines are all over the place, we may have a hard time recognizing things”. I had been through so many surgeries, the doctors were concerned that my innards were jumbled up. “We will need 2 operations, the reverse Hartmann, and the 2nd for the mesh”. The explanation was that the 1st was a “dirty” procedure, involving fecal matter, and that the 2nd was a clean procedure, that required everything to be clean to avoid infection. After a long search, and after weighing all options, I decided to have the surgery in London. Dr Edward Westcott performed the reverse Hartman on me at Princess Grace hospital in London on October, 2025. To my surprise, both procedures - reverse Hartman and mesh removal were done in one shot, contrary to what my other doctors had told me was possible. The whole procedure took 4 hours, and I was up and walking in 24hours. Best surprise was that I was able to regain control of my core muscles. The mesh in my abdomen had ripped apart my core and I had difficulty getting out of bed, or into cars, or walking up unsteady surfaces. Anything requiring good core muscles - I could not do. None of the doctors could tell me how my core would behave after surgery as there were few who had my problem - abdominal mesh, no core muscles, colostomy bag. Not only was the colostomy bag gone, I could now play sports and engage in regular activities like a regular human being. I am told that this was made possible due to some very recent advances & techniques - they injected my abdomen with Botox 6 weeks prior to surgery - to allow them to stretch my abdomen more during the operation. Then they used some new flexible bio mesh that allowed the doctors to join my core muscles together, yet stretch and move about. All in all I am very pleased and happy to recommend Dr Westcott to anyone in need of abdominal surgery. I won’t say my body is as good as before, but it is a damn better than anything I expected.

    Mr Rehan Salim

    Fertility Medicine, Obstetrician & Gynaecologist

    5.0

    Verified

Mr Salim is a one of a kind doctor - his genuine care, empathy, and understanding is unparalleled and I feel so lucky to have been in his care going through my egg freezing journey. The experience I had with Mr Salim and his team was night and day to a previous experience. Mr. Salim went above and beyond during the process to settle my worries and make sure I had a positive experience (knowing that I'd had a less positive experience previously) e.g., making sure he was the one to do my retrieval even though he wasn't on rota, making sure I always see him for my check-in appointments, and always embracing my (many) questions with a patient and kind response. I truly felt like he cared as much as I did about the outcome of my treatment and I will forever be grateful for him for getting me the 13 eggs he did! His nursing team take the same empathetic approach as every nurse I interacted with was kind, patient, and caring - not to mention incredibly responsive with communications over email. I would (and have been) recommend Mr Salim to any woman going through fertility issues, dealing with PCOS, endometriosis etc. He is the best out there and I wish only more gynecologists could be like him!

My doctors are always amazing and when ive had a serious procedure they have been excellent. Only minor thing id say is once the doctor hands over to the team of nurses etc it felt as though they werent sure what to do with me. I was sent for bloods then asked to go to the main hospital then told to go to ground floor then someone else was able to sort out my appointments. When I couldve resolved a few things on the day I went, it ended up having to make appointments for everything. I was given a urine sample kit to take with me. I kinda wish my bloods and urine would have all been completed on the day as they have the facility and there was time as I sat on the chair for a few minutes before they apologised and told me id have to go to the main hospital. I think when its one thing to do, its pretty straight forward but when theres a few things to book in I was handed from one nurse to another to anothert and in the end I left having to change my appointments. They are all lovely but feels as though they are missing some direction and considering that the patient may already be a bit anxious about the visit. Otherwise its always a good experience

I received my care at the Spire Regency Hospital in Macclesfield following a unicompartmental knee replacement in November 2025, and the standard of care throughout was excellent. From recovery through to the ward, the post-operative care was consistently compassionate, professional, and attentive. Every member of staff I encountered — from nursing and medical staff to healthcare assistants, physiotherapists, and catering staff — was kind, supportive, and clearly committed to patient wellbeing. Although I didn’t manage to note everyone’s name, those I did were outstanding and a real credit to the hospital. The physiotherapy support was particularly impressive. My post-operative physiotherapist understood exactly how far my knee should be bending at each stage and struck the right balance between encouragement and reassurance. This helped me overcome the understandable mental barriers around pain and guarding, and I was given a clear and structured recovery exercise plan to follow at home.

I had a wonderful experience at this aesthetic clinic and couldn’t be happier with the results. From the moment I walked in, the clinic felt clean, calm, and very professional. The staff were welcoming, kind, and made me feel completely at ease. The practitioner took time to really listen to what I wanted, explained everything clearly, and never rushed the consultation. I felt genuinely cared for, not upsold or pressured. The treatment itself was smooth and comfortable, and the attention to detail was impressive. The results look incredibly natural: refreshed, not “done.” Exactly what I was hoping for. I also appreciated the aftercare advice and follow-up, which showed a high level of professionalism. I would absolutely recommend this clinic to anyone looking for safe, high-quality aesthetic treatments with a personal touch. I’ll definitely be coming back.

I have seen Dr Cavill twice now and she has been exceptional on both occasions. She is extremely attentive and takes a genuinely holistic approach to my care, carefully considering all aspects of my health rather than focusing narrowly on one symptom or issue. Dr Cavill has been incredibly thorough in her investigations, taking the time to explore potential underlying causes, arranging appropriate tests, and clearly explaining the reasoning behind each step. I never feel rushed during appointments, and she ensures nothing is overlooked, even when symptoms are complex, intermittent, or difficult to describe. She is reassuring, methodical, and clearly committed to understanding the full picture of my health. I would highly recommend Dr Cavill to anyone looking for a caring, diligent, and highly thorough doctor.

My consultation with Dr Seepana has been absolutely amazing. At no time did I feel hurried or feel like I was wasting her time. Dr Seepana spent time explaining reasons behind my symptoms and a range of treatments that have never been offered to me before by my own GP. It was such a relief to talk to a Doctor who did not dismiss my symptoms, but understood and listened. Her responses were kind, caring and showed a level of empathy that I have not experienced before when speaking to health professionals regarding my menopause symptoms and how it is affecting my life. Dr Seepana is so knowledgeable and it’s clear that women’s health is her passion. I left her surgery feeling empowered with knowledge and the hope that I no longer needed suffer. Thank you Dr Seepana for such an amazing consultation.

The physiotherapist seemed unconcerned by the pain I have been experiencing for nearly a year. He mentioned that I had full movement and so he was not concerned. He kept saying that he would not give me another steroid injection without acknowledging that I didn’t want one. He told me to do some exercises which he showed me how to do once and gave me no paperwork or YouTube link that might assist when I got home. I tried to ask how long I should wait before I made any further action and he said there is no more treatment. I felt like an inconvenience and wish I had gone somewhere else. I would never recommend anyone to see him again. He really made me feel small and insignificant.

Having suffered with Crohn’s for over 10 years, I was in desperate need of help when Dr Shalabi accepted my referral at Frimley Park from an alternative hospital. During my first interaction he recognised how poorly I was and needed medical attention and I put my full trust in him to help me get better. His experience and expertise, alongside his calmness and kindness have got me through some very difficult situations over the last few years. He continues to follow up regularly and I am so grateful to be under his care. I would highly recommend Dr Shalabi to anyone in need of gastroenterology care.

Thyroid blood test. Never been before. Autistic so some challeges : a sign on door to push would have helped, it was intimidating, couldn’t get in straight away. An area with reduced lighting to wait would have reduced my overwhelm, was very close to waiting outside. Became very overwhelmed trying to explain which test I had booked, knew there was a fault on the website. Although the situation was rectified satisfactorily, it was still an overwhelming, triggering experience.

Had a review on my right shoulder today with Mr Gurdip Shergill at New Hall Hospital. He explained in detail the issues with my shoulder and how we could move forward with a plan. I was able to make an informed decision and surgery was decided. A rare gentleman in this busy world and with a smile. Very professional, never felt rushed and was given the option to ask questions. Very impressed and have asked for my husband to be also referred for treatment under Mr Shergill.

My appointment with Dr Guy Haywood was very good. - Dr Haywood had read the briefing information I supplied about my condition. - Dr Haywood interviewed me to establish how my atrial fibrillation was affecting me. - Dr Haywood examined me and my ECG and then explained very clearly the available treatments and their limitations. I am now happy that I have a better understanding of my condition and the options open to me if my condition starts to impact my activities.

Professor Sanderson is a very kind and enterprising man. Other doctors have either had little ideas or will to treat me. In contrast, Professor Sanderson has never given up trying to help me. It is in a large part thanks to him alone that I’m still alive. His administrative staff are also a pleasure and make sure I’m well looked after. Do contact them if you are considering it. It will probably be one of the best things you ever do.

Everyone at the Menopause Clinic was so kind, friendly and welcoming, it made the whole experience so much more manageable. I'm so grateful that places like this are finally now starting to exist for women's health, as this area has been woefully neglected for so long. I felt really supported and listened too, plus the doctors actually have the expertise and knowledge to advise properly. Thank you so much!
