The receptionist knew I had travelled from North Wales to see the best spinal surgeon in London and was looking to get my scans same day upstairs but had nothing for that day very kindly said couldn't see anything at Portland place. As we walked out the the ground floor we thought to ask about the other clinics. So we asked the receptionist sat to the far right as you walk in. Instead of checking to see what was available she had this scowl on her face and basically said "computer says no" - she didn't check availability for CT, X-RAY & MRI we had informed her we forgot to ask and she responded "well im sure my colleague looked at all options anyway". Could you check anyway Mr Russo assured us it was possible? "Too busy". We didn't want to make a scene, but felt it very insulting and disrespectful that she didn't actually check anything as we felt she was being prejudicial or in a poor mood. later I got a call from a helpful member of staff who actually informed me that they could fir me in for all 3 appointments same day. So as it turns out we were right. Just goes to show how miserable a member of staff is if they are willing to make someone with a spinal disease who can barely walk suffer or pay another £700 visit to London + 150 for the consult via private insursnce. Very upset about this person and the receptionist to Vitorio Russo is very unhelpful I had to be very rude to get him to do his job TWICE and in all honesty he has yet to do his job. It's like the place is filled with lazy unhelpful people with zero empathy/sympathy. If they walked a day in my shoes... I need not finish the sentence. Sort the staff out. This is unacceptable especially given this is a private clinic. The NHS are kinder... And That's saying something given the dragon receptionists I've met.

Following a scan Mr Moxey was quick to diagnose my problem (Peripheral Artery Disease in my aorta and leg arteries) and to identify where the blockages were and the degree of severity. He clearly explained the options for treating it and the risks of each approach. Together we decided that surgery would be the best option. At the time I was only able to walk 20 metres without having to rest, despite the fact I am normally very active. The results of the keyhole surgery were way better than I expected. I can walk for an hour or more without any difficulty, I can play fast, hard games of Padel and I can do my full gym workouts with multiple leg exercises. The operation was far from routine. It lasted 6 hours, during which time several techniques had to be tried to clear the blockages. I am absolutely delighted with the results.

Both surgery appointments were excellent. Everything was explained by very patient staff who did their very best to put everyone at ease, no matter how many questions were asked. Although I was in a booth, I appreciated being in a waiting room with other people while having pre-op eye drops as this was more relaxing watching the nurses go about their business. I welcomed the number of checks made as to who I was and what I was having done, very thorough. Both operations were quick and painless, only taking around ten minutes each. A lot of care was taken over my welfare and I felt very looked after. One negative , my second appointment was running over thirty minutes late but we weren't informed of this on arrival. Overall I can't recommend Ortega enough.

Having undergone surgery in the past I was reasonably prepared for what was about to happen and I was put very much at ease by the attitude of both Professor Jones and the theatre staff who kept me informed on the proceedings prior to the actual surgery itself. Following the procedure I was informed that all went well and all I had to do was to recover! The overall experience reduced considerably any concerns I would have had otherwise on undergoing surgery in the future if necessary and I am glad to have chosen Professor Jones as my surgeon. His friendly attitude was much appreciated.

He also made openly sexist comments which left me with little doubt that I would not be getting any medical help and that it was a waste of time going to him.
