Mr Tom Rourke

Mr Tom Rourke is an experienced consultant ENT surgeon based in Reading. He sees patients at the ENT Consultancy (where he is a partner and clinical lead) and Circle Reading Hospital. He has expertise in head and neck cancer, facial plastic surgery, skin cancer, blocked nose, CSF leak, sleep apnoea and snoring. With over 20 years’ experience, Mr Rourke is highly skilled in his field, offering a range of procedural options for treatment.

Mr Rourke originally qualified in medicine from the University of Nottingham in 2003. He completed his basic surgical training in Nottingham, Norwich and Oxford, after which he joined the Royal Marsden Hospital in London, before going on to accomplish six years of higher specialist ENT surgery training on the prestigious Oxford/Thames Valley deanery. During this period, Mr Rourke undertook a surgical fellowship in nose, sinus and facial plastic surgery, notably acquiring proficiency in complex nose/sinus conditions and skin cancers of the head and neck. Building upon this practice, Mr Rourke later worked at the Churchill Hospital, where he specialised in head and neck cancer surgery.

In addition to his private practice, Mr Rourke is also an NHS consultant at Royal Berkshire Hospital where he has been working since 2015. In this NHS role he is the clinical governance lead for the ENT department and educational supervisor for the foundation doctors. As a leading figure in his specialty, Mr Rourke also has an interest in medical education, having undertaken a Masters from the University of Warwick in 2013 as well as an educational fellowship in 2011, looking into improving communication between clinical staff within the NHS.
