Mr. Bast is a world-class surgeon and a compassionate professional. If you have a complex case or have been turned away by others, do not hesitate to see him. I am profoundly grateful. My case was very complex, rooted in a genetic nasal deformity that was worsened by rugby trauma and made significantly worse by a failed first surgery which left me with a collapsed airway, a significantly worse septal deviation, septal perforations, and acute breathing disorders . One nostril was basically completely blocked, forcing me to mouth-breathe and wake up suffocating night after night. I was getting nosebleeds from the perforations and whistling as the airflow tried desperately to find a way through the perforations. I felt entirely hopeless after multiple other surgeons turned their backs on me over the years, labelling my case too difficult to fix because of the failed first operation and “not worth the risk” despite all the suffering. From my very first consultation, Mr. Bast was different. He actually listened, understood the toll this was taking on my life, and confidently took on a highly complex septal reconstruction using a rib graft. I am now just over five weeks post-op, and my recent follow-up confirmed what I feel every single day: my perforations are entirely closed, my septum is straight, and my breathing is excellent, and my nose feels healthy. Even the appearance of my nose has vastly improved. The physical relief of taking a deep, clear breath through my nose is something I will never take for granted again. Thank you.
