I had been referred by my optician for a potential glaucoma diagnosis. This referral went through extremely quickly and my appointment on Tuesday 14th October 2025 was the best medical experience I have encountered. My elderly parents had kindly driven me to my appointment as I do not drive. The car parking facilities were excellent. I asked permission if my parents could wait and the 3 of us were warmly welcomed. The reception, seating area and customer service was outstanding. The free hot drink was a surprising luxury and we were fortunate to attend on a day when Newmedica staff had organised a cake sale for the organisation Vista. The quality of refreshments reached a high standard and provided such a positive environment. The 3 Practitioners who conducted my eye tests and recorded my medical history were kind, patient and reassuring. My Consultant provided exemplary care. Professional, thorough and calm. He provided a clear explanation of how he was reaching his conclusion. I received an email of the outcome within the hour. I have a follow up in 12 months and this will be the first medical appointment that I will look forward to. Thank you to the whole team at Newmedica. It was a privilege to be treated as an NHS Patient here and whether Private or an NHS patient customer care is exceptional for both patients and their family members

Mr Shahbaz Malik

I suffered a lateral meniscus tear on my right knee from long distance running. I was initially speaking to a different surgeon, but they referred me to Mr Malik due to my preference for a meniscal repair rather than a meniscectomy. He was professional and communicated well throughout, clearly explaining the injury and the repair needed. The surgery was booked in very promptly, saving me a long and uncertain wait for NHS treatment. It was very easy to book and full pricing was clear. The surgery itself went to plan, and I had multiple follow-up appointments where he explained what he'd done, including photos of the surgery, talking about his approach to what I understand is a less common type of meniscal tear. Several months into recovery, the pain and extent of the injury has gone and I'm doing a physio programme to rebuild muscle and get back to running again. The physiotherapy I've had to complement the surgery has also been thorough and of great quality. Overall, I'm extremely satisfied, and although I hope I never have cause to consult Mr Malik again, I'd return in future if I picked up a similar injury.

I wanted to share & express my upmost gratitude for the treatment and care delivered to my son on 20th September 2025 who has Neurodiverse needs. Spencer hospital and all the staff were absolutely fantastic in supporting him through his recent gallbladder removal surgery. Every care and attention was given to him from the moment we were referred, to pre consultation and pre operative assessment to the moment he was discharged after a successful surgery. Mr Boshnaq and his medical team did an amazing job, reassuring us every step of the way and fully explained procedures and took their time to ensure we both felt comfortable. I really cannot thank everyone enough, nurses porters etc… This is what great care looks like and I wish every NHS experience could be as positive. Thank you, you made what could have been a terribly traumatic experience for my son into a calm and gentle process and I feel truly blessed to have such a great hospital, with caring and competent staff in my home town.

Had my first appointment with Mr. MacArthur at the Queen Elizabeth to discuss an ERCP procedure. Spoke first with his colleague Orla who took my details and asked about any symptoms I might be having. She was very thorough both asking questions and giving answers. Then spoke with Mr. McArthur who discussed with me the benefits and possible side effects of the procedure and given my history that an ERCP was the better choice for me right now rather than having my gall bladder removed. It was a very detailed discussion which made things very clear and he answered any questions I had. The end choice was left to me and it was one I was happy with having all the information. I felt comfortable with Mr. McArthur and his team who were all very pleasant and am happy moving forward with them. L.D.

Amazing experience! Being an NHS patient, the only expectations I had were, expect the same level of service in terms of courteousness and I’d still be in a queue to receive treatment. How wrong was I? The hospital staff on the welcome desk were great and the imaging department were very friendly too! My surgeon, Mr Jeer was incredible! Very thorough in his explanation, exceptional professionalism and the wait time for an MRI and follow-up appt was non-existent! Fingers crossed for a small wait time, for the ACL reconstruction. 💯 exceeded my expectations, thank you so much!

The initial consultation was excellent, the day of the operation went as well as it possibly could with virtually no waiting time on the day of the operation. I was kept informed at all times of the timetable for the day. The after care on the day of surgery was excellent, I was extremely well looked after, the food was good (I was given biscuits and chocolate ice cream on request!!!) and all the staff were helpful, calm, attentive and extremely knowledgeable. I must mention Jan the nurse - he was on hand all the time and provided excellent assistance when required.

I recently had a partial knee replacement as advised by my consultant rather than a full knee replacement. At first I was apprehensive about only receiving a partial, however with the reassurance and guidance of Dr Bhattacharyya I opted for this option. On reflection I am glad to have only had the partial as I have had a great recovery experience and back to full mobility and movement within 6 weeks post op. My wound has healed nicely and I am delighted with all my follow up. With his expertise and good bed side manner I have overall had a very positive experience.

The staff at the centre are exceptional. Customer service is amazing and the consideration for the children is outstanding. Minimal waiting times avoid the children becoming overly fearful or stressed and procedures are handled with professionalism and empathy for the young patients involved. My son was petrified of needles before you did a blood test, but it was handled so well and compassionately that he now is pretty confident around injections/blood tests. Thank you

I cannot fault any of my visits to HCA at the Shard. All of the staff were very professional and friendly. The building is extremely clean and comfortable. My appointments were generally on time and if not - the reception staff always communicated any delays. The views are rather impressive too!
