Dr Dimitrios Nouvakis

Dr. Dimitrios Nouvakis is a Consultant Neurologist with expertise in general neurology, stroke medicine, autonomic disorders, and headache management. Since joining the NHS in 2022, he has worked across leading neurological centres in London and has been a member of the Dementech Neurosciences team since December 2023.

Prior to his consultant appointment, Dr. Nouvakis completed a Senior Clinical Fellowship in Neurology and Stroke at King's College Hospital, where he managed acute neurological emergencies, complex neurological disorders, and participated in stroke research clinical trials. He subsequently undertook specialist training in the Autonomic Unit at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, developing expertise in autonomic nervous system disorders including dysautonomia, postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS), and chronic fatigue spectrum disorders. He has also spent the past year working in specialist headache clinics at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, diagnosing and treating primary and secondary headache disorders, including migraine, cluster headache, and tension-type headache, using both pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment approaches.

Dr. Nouvakis completed his neurology training in Greece between 2015 and 2022, achieving his Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) while gaining extensive experience in stroke, epilepsy, dementia, headache medicine, and acute neurology. He holds a Master of Science (MSc) in Stroke Medicine, with research focused on sleep disorders associated with stroke, and has been awarded the prestigious title of Fellow of the European Board of Neurology (FEBN). In recognition of his academic achievements, he received the first prize honorary research grant from the Hellenic Neurological Society in 2022.

His clinical interests include stroke medicine, general neurology, autonomic disorders, and headache disorders, with a focus on improving long-term neurological health and quality of life through clinical excellence, research, and ongoing professional development.
