Dr Angelo Dawson is a Consultant Neurologist with a specialist focus on functional neurological disorders (FND), general neurology, and neurorehabilitation, alongside a strong academic background in neurological recovery and service development.
He trained at the Guy’s, King’s and St Thomas’ School of Medicine and completed his specialist neurology training on the Northwest London Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust rotation, finishing in 2023. He currently works as a consultant at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust, where he runs a large general neurology outpatient service and provides inpatient neurology consultation across the hospital. In addition, he works at King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust within the regional specialist Functional Neurological Disorder service (FNDExSEL), where he contributes to specialist assessments, multidisciplinary team meetings, and regional education for patients with newly diagnosed FND.
His clinical expertise spans general neurology with a particular specialist interest in functional neurological disorders, including functional (dissociative) seizures, chronic pain, fatigue syndromes, and complex neurological symptom presentations. Of every doctor my husband and I saw over the 2.5 years since he was diagnosed with cancer and walking difficulties, Dr Dawson was by far the kindest, most human, and most compassionate of them all. He always seemed to have time for us, and to genuinely care about our situation (myself as well as my husband). He explained things clearly and took the time to answer our questions. We never felt rushed, even when some of my husband’s questions were not directly linked to Dr Dawson’s areas of specialism. It was a very refreshing change and we always looked forward to our appointments with Dr Dawson, rather than dreading those with other doctors. His letters were also always comprehensive, accurate, and carefully worded. Thank you Dr Dawson for everything - you enriched our lives massively during a very difficult time.
Dr Angelo Dawson listened carefully. He was thorough in taking on board everything my husband and I reported and asked relevant questions before making his diagnosis. He then explained everything to me and followed up with a detailed letter. I do not require routine appointments but he offered further appointments whenever needed in person or on line. I would recommend Dr Dawson
