About Benenden Hospital
Benenden Hospital has been caring for patients since 1907, having been opened to treat patients with Tuberculosis. The hospital has since then developed to provide a range of facilities and services to essentially care for and rehabilitate self-funding private patients and Benenden Health members.
Benenden is a private hospital which offers a modern and calm environment and the services are delivered by the best doctors and nurses, having received an Outstanding Care Quality Commission (CQC) rating. We always ensure they provide the highest standard of care in a safe and compassionate manner.
Benenden Hospital is equipped with the latest technology and modern facilities. This includes the opening of Bensan Ward, as part of the hospital's multi-million-pound redevelopment programme. Furthermore, the Ambulatory Care Unit was provided with advanced equipment for upper gastro-intestinal investigations, including sigmoidoscopy and colonoscopy.
The hospital also offers additional services, including hip and knee replacement surgery, cataract removal, varicose vein treatment, cosmetic surgery, private GP services, a range of diagnostic tests and scans and physiotherapy services provided by the highly-experienced teams.

My time as an inpatient at Benenden was extremely good. From the doctors and nurses to the tea lady. Very professional, courteous and kind. Anything you want they were there for you. I had a total knee replacement which was extremely painful but they went out of their way to get on top of my pain relief. Excellent

Excellent overall just a little niggle that had to arrive before 07.00am for procedure that did not take place until 11.30am

Generally the experience once at Benenden was very good. Although I am a NHS funded patient I am still a "paying customer" and have found the waiting times at Benenden from initial contact, to 1st appt, to Out patient appts, are now taking longer than my previous experiences of using Benenden. Perhaps too much recent advertising to recruit new members before the Benenden infrastructure / capacity has been increased appropriately to accommodate the increase in members with the result of extended wait times.

At Benenden Hospital, we’re the largest provider in England for varicose vein removal (PHIN 2023), so you can put your trust in our private vascular service. We understand that older methods of varicose vein removal such as stripping, can put patients off seeking treatment, however, we’ve put together a guide to our Endovenous Laser Treatment (EVLT) to ease your biggest concerns.

The autumn and winter months are generally easier on your varicose veins than the heat of the summer. As the weather cools, veins are less likely to dilate, and you may even notice a reduction in swelling. This can provide a bit of relief, however, this won’t last forever, and as soon as the weather begins to warm up, you might notice that your veins start feeling worse in the heat.
