Mr Jonathan Aboshiha studied medicine at Cambridge University and then moved to London to continue his training, with a period working abroad as a neurosurgeon in Sydney. Upon his return to England, he trained as an ophthalmic surgeon at the world-famous Moorfields Eye Hospital, where he was based for nearly 10 years and where he also undertook his additional scientific research work that led to the award of his PhD. Having completed his UK ophthalmic surgical training, wherein he was awarded accelerated training by the Royal College of Ophthalmologists as a trainee who had performed exceptionally, he undertook a further two years of Corneal Fellowship sub-specialist training at Moorfields Eye Hospital, where he also worked as a NHS consultant.

Before the operation Dr Jonathan went through the risks etc. of the operation so I was well prepared for the time it took for my eyes to settle down, post-op. During the operation - which to be honest I did find nerve wracking (both times) - Dr Jonathon kept a commentary going of the procedure and progress which personally I found very helpful.
