I have visited St Joseph’s a number of times for consultations and have always had a good experience. However as a day case today there was quite a wait for the appointment to begin. It was uncomfortable in the waiting area with a cold draught blowing in through sliding doors. The letter stated the admission was at 5pm but were only called in at 5.40pm. The procedure went well and the nurses/assistants were very friendly. The facility was clean and clutter free. However the consultant then went into this busy waiting area and informed my relative, who accompanied me, with the results of the procedure in front of other patients and staff. This was highly inappropriate and the hospital needs to ensure there are private areas to discuss medical information in future. For a privately paying service one would expect there to be better controls and more discretion to be provided for medical procedures.

I had my first cataract operation on 1st September which was successful but not quite improved sufficiently for me to meet legal requirements to be able to resume driving. Mr Sheik operated on my second cataract on 3rd September, reviewed me on 6th September and so pleased to tell me I was now able to drive again. He was so professional, efficient and kind throughout my visits. I can't find the words to express my appreciation and profound gratitude towards him and to the other members of his team. Richard is, without question, the kindest and most effective therapist I’ve ever worked with. His confidence, evidently based on deep knowledge, is paired with his good humour and informal approach to create an extremely comfortable and supportive therapeutic environment. He has, and continues to support me with both the practical, day-to-day steps in my recovery from anorexia, as well as the deep and meaningful work needed to make that recovery robust. For anyone struggling with an eating disorder, I can not recommend and endorse Richard highly enough.

I went to have my operation dressing removed and the consultant mr paver to check the wounds to make sure he’s happy with the results he was totally happy he said it’s the best results he’s seen for a long time with my second toe correction he’s extremely happy and so am I I haven’t seen my foot look so good in a long long time and the fact I’ve not really had any pain after this surgery is a miracle but I’ve done as I’m told and kept it elevated as I was told too for the first 2 weeks and just shows how much difference that makes

I underwent release of carpal tunnel surgery, R hand. Offered short notice call in by surgical team. The whole experience went as smoothly as butter. Great nursing care pre and post operativly and as a retired NHS employee who has done dental work in theatre I was very impressed by the whole team approach intraoperatively with careful clear checks at all stages, excellent reassurance for me at all stages and good pain control. I did feel I was asking too many questions and was wary of the time I was taking , had a tiny feeling of being hurried slightly , but that may have been my perception and I do tend to go round the houses when explaining stuff . The Spire has excellent facilities (car parking, waiting area, consulting rooms etc) and the reception staff are very attentive and helpful. The “formal check in” using an iPad is an unnecessary hurdle for patients to negotiate. The earlier system of just checking in with the receptionist was much better. My appointment with Dr. Balerdi was on time and a very useful session. Re. Dr. Balerdi himself, my very postive comments are in an earlier section.

I had some balance testing done due to vertigo I’ve been experiencing and it was incredibly thorough. The audiologist who ran the test explained every test in detail to me so that I would know what was about to happen and what I had to do. She also answered all my questions about what was happening and what she was looking for as we went along. I don’t think it gets more thorough and detailed than this.

Mr Subramaniam was very honest with me and actually recommended that the operation that i had gone for would not really benefit me. He was very clear when explaining his reasons and recommended a better course of action for me.
