I feel both immensely privileged and incredibly lucky to have had the good fortune to be treated by Professor Sanjay Purkayastha: he is a deeply impressive surgeon and doctor. I had a laparoscopic LINX procedure with hiatus hernia repair under him to treat GORD and, from the outset, he radiated calm, collected competence, superabundant capability and the right kind of assurance in a way that could only inspire confidence. He was also endlessly patient with my numerous questions, posed over a considerable period of time (some of them more than once), while I made up my mind about the right way ahead for me. He gave me an absolute sense of being in the best possible hands, and there can’t be much that is more important than this before significant surgery. With him you feel you are getting not only the best that he can do, but the very best that could be done anywhere. He goes the extra mile for you so that you also feel that nothing matters more to him than you personally and your individual outcome, and that all of his self-evidently exceptional skill, authority and determination will be focused accordingly. He convinced me of this at our first meeting, and it's since been more than justified. He communicates superbly: technically, as a surgeon, in explaining your situation and the options plainly and simply; but also on a human level, with empathy that embodies compassion and control, putting you at your ease in a troubling situation so that your trust is complete. Crucially, all of this was then borne out by the results. I have not had a single recurrence of GORD since the procedure, and I was amazed at how swift, trouble-free and complete was my recovery (even though he had been quite clear about what issues I might experience - in the event there was nothing of note), how little discomfort was involved (for which I must also give credit to his close partnership with anaesthetist Dr Alex Wickham), and how minimal were the residual marks. Frankly, at this level of skill, five stars are not enough. Sanjay Purkayastha is a star himself and would be my surgeon of choice without hesitation or reservation for anything within his specialty as I cannot imagine one better.

My experience with Albion Dental has been brilliant from start to finish of my treatment. My dentist Dr Ghadimi is very kind, and is very skilled with the procedures he can perform. I have severe hypodontia and even after extensive work throughout my life I was not quite confident with my teeth, so after some discussion and planning, I decided to pursue new crowns for my top 4 teeth; a big decision for me but it has been well worth it and I have no regrets. The treatment was explained well, and my questions were answered fully and meticulously. The nature of the treatment was more cosmetic compared to previous work I've had done, and a big financial endeavour for me, but there are payment plans available to make it more affordable and accessible. The dental assistants are really lovely and look after you well, and the receptionists are always a ray of sunshine when entering the building; their client care skills are exemplary. Some advice for if you have a complex condition and have had a lot of dental work done before coming to the practice like myself, would be to make sure to let the clinic know as much information as possible, as there was some communication that needed to be had to get on level ground with the team. But this was to be expected for me with my long medical history and the clinic was very open and receptive to my concerns about my teeth, and devised a plan sensitively and effectively to help me feel more confident with my smile, something I've felt self-conscious about since I was little! So I would recommend this clinic to anyone for routine, or more involved treatment, and am grateful for everything they've done for me!

I wanted to share some feedback on my recent appointment. I felt the consultant was quite dismissive and used language that may not have been appropriate — for example, when feeling the lump I was told immediately “this is not cancer.” While I have personal experience in this area and have been through it before, for someone new to this situation such a conclusion could feel very daunting and unsettling. The appointment also felt rushed, particularly after the ultrasound (as the mammogram machine was broken). I left feeling as though my questions were seen as unimportant, and that I was being hurried out because “nothing was wrong.” While I accept the results, I had hoped for a more considered discussion — especially as I’ve had similar lumps removed in the past and wanted to understand the difference this time. Instead, I was simply told to manage the pain, given a leaflet, and advised to take primrose oil. This did not feel like the most supportive approach. To then receive a letter a couple of hours later — before the mammogram had even taken place — dismissing me from the service, felt like a rushed and premature conclusion. I hope this feedback is taken constructively, as the experience could be improved by allowing more time for questions, more sensitivity in communication, and reassurance for patients at what can be an anxious time.

Andrew was, as ever, totally professional whilst being friendly, supportive, helpful, kind and witty, all of which make every consultation a total pleasure. He never patronises or intimidates but is always a great listener, reassures and generally makes me feel that I matter. He doesn't shy away from telling the truth of a situation yet does it with empathy and sensitivity (sometimes tough love is what I need). He deals not only with my HIV status and wellbeing but also with my mental health, my general physical health (I have numerous other health, previous recreational drug use, relationship and financial issues) with a reassuring confidence. Andrew puts me at ease and I can say without hesitation that he is the best NHS Consultant I have ever met. He has literally saved me from suicide on at least one occasion!

We saw Mr Lattouf with no real expectation of proceeding with surgery, as a colleague had suggested a TKA may not provide an acceptable outcome. Mr Lattouf was engaging and reassuring from the outset and offered an arthroplasty that fully addressed the several existing issues, and took the trouble also to militate the unsightly scarring from a previous failed surgery. After 30 plus years of incrementally progressive disability, the outcome has been spectacular, from my perspective. I have none of the original pain, the joint is stable and the valgus deformity has been successfully corrected. Functional ROM is from 0-120 degrees. I have the highest regard for Mr Lattouf’s skills and am immensely grateful to have been the beneficiary.

We were so impressed with the hospital. It was modern, clean, and we were welcomed so warmly by a nurse called Helen who somehow knew who we were and offered us a hot drink and clearly explained how the process of the appointment and procedure would look like. We were then taken to the room where Dr Shah and a second nurse called Yvonne welcomed us and Dr Shah explained clearly the assessment, the procedure, and dealt with us and and our newborn son with care and attention. The aftercare was also wonderful and we were given time and space to ensure our son had recovered before we left. Cannot recommend One Hospital and Dr Shah enough.

My experience during the assessment was great - very friendly and approachable assessor, allowing me to build a rapport and discuss sensitive topics. However, the process leading up to the assessment with multiple forms was difficult. The team did not know what forms were awaiting completion, and when I contacted them months after, they realised and booked my appointment. There needs to be more checks on people waiting for assessment to ensure forms are completed and actioned in a timely manner.

We were anxious about our daughter Abigail going under anaesthetic but put completely at ease by the friendly and professional team. Mr Moor gave a detailed description of the procedure and we particularly liked that our daughter was given the choice of IV or gas administration of anaesthesia. Nurse Jen provided exceptional care and was kind and compassionate throughout. Aftercare advice on discharge was very thorough. The ward was spotlessly clean and food very good.

The appointment was smooth and seemless even with a tube strike. Many of the staff who had taken care of me recognised me and took time to chat and find out how I was recovering. I felt they genuinely had an interest and delighted in much of m good news. All together, the staff there are brilliant. I would go out of my way to use the cromwell over many of my local hospitals just for the care our staff showed me.

The nurses on the third floor were accommodating and warm, and Mr Dwivedi had great bedside manners as he checked on me before the surgery and right afterwards. He also made sure to call me every day to see how my throat was healing (tonsillectomy.) I'd highly recommend.
