I Attended spire Washington 15th November to recieve total left hip replacement surgery from Dr Krishnan’s team. My experience from my first consultation to final discharge was superb. Having never been in hospital before, Everything was fully explained, and I was put totally at ease. The actual surgery went perfectly, the anethatists were brilliant and I felt no pain and slept through the operation which went very well. My Post operative care was first class, everyone involved in my care was excellent, and I was discharged the following day after some PT. My recovery from Surgery has been way better than expected, I was walking unaided after 9 days and by 4 weeks I was able to walk several miles, the incision has healed well and the scar is quite neat . This surgery has been life changing as I was struggling with mobility and pain from osteoarthritis, and now I’m back to normal and able to do all of the things I could before I developed the complaint. I can’t thank Dr Krishnan and his team enough and I would thoroughly recommend him without any reservation.

On visiting consultant Subhajit Ghosh a prescription was given to the nurse to be ordered for my next appointment as it was something that was not kept in stock at OSD. I needed to check my diary to see if I could make this next appointment at OSD Healthcare in Hemel Hempstead to have the prescription or, see the consultant at Spire Hospital on another day. On checking my diary I found I could make it and I phoned and arranged an appointment with Subhajit Ghosh. Unfortunately, the prescription had not been ordered so when I turned up for my next appointment I was unable to have my treatment and I would have to see him again another time. I appreciate mix ups happen but thought OSD Healthcare should check their procedures in instances such as this, so that prescriptions are ordered once patients have confirmed they can make future appointments.

The administrative processes are not always easy to naviagate but the staff at the hospital are professional and helpful. Staff on reception seem well briefed on what information is needed from patients. Clinical staff - both on the wards and in the CT scanning teams were professional and reassuring. It would be useful - for people accompanying a patient for a procedure - to have some information about facilities available to them. I was at the hospital for 12 hours and the only way to get something to eat was to go out of the hopsital to buy it. It would have been helpful to have some catering available on site - if only by machine.

Excellent 5* service all round - I booked my telephone appointment online and everything was on time and thorough. Special thanks to Joanna for helping me out with invoicing and making sure I was happy with my appointment type. Exceptional customer service. Also thank you to Dr N Bennett who provided me with amazing advice and a speedy prescription - she guided me and we made a decision together on next steps. Everything went ok but if I had one criticism it would be I felt that the surgical area was very busy and needed more nurses . I was left in my room with no one coming in for quite a long time and although offered a coffee after the procedure I eventually had to ring my bell and a Dr came and brought me a coffee . Luckily I am not a nervous patient but if I had been there wasn’t enough contact with nursing staff . They’d appear and say they were going to do something and then disappear and not come back .

Before the operation I was unable to put sock on my left foot with movements reatricted so much. Pain before hand was bad and required to take pain killers after running.
