Dr Lindsay George is a full time NHS consultant who works in General Medicine, Diabetes and Endocrinology at the University Hospital, Llandough (UHL). He undertakes his private practice at The Spire Hospital, Cardiff and is able to offer face to face appointments at Spire or virtual video consultations via Zoom and the Doctify platform. Spire appointments are scheduled on Monday and Tuesday evenings. Virtual consultations through Doctify can be scheduled flexibly so as to be mutually convenient.
Dr George became a consultant in 2001 and moved to his current post in UHL in 2004. He is the Clinical Lead for Diabetes for the Cardiff and Vale University Health Board and the Clinical Director for Medicine for the University Hospital, Llandough. He is also a passionate educator and teaches medical students, junior trainees and specialty trainee doctors alongside his clinical practice. He was recently awarded the prestigious award of Inspirational Leader in Cardiff and the Vale.
Dr George offers appointments for general medical conditions and their symptoms. In addition he is happy to offer advice for endocrinology consultations, including pituitary, adrenal, thyroid, parathyroid and testicular function. These sometimes present as disorders of sodium, electrolytes, cortisol, thyroxine, calcium, prolactin, testosterone and parathyroid hormone.
He is able to discuss the merits of replacement endocrine therapy and whether or not it is warranted in difficult cases; helping patients come to the best decision on their treatment.
Although experienced across a wide range of conditions, Dr George does not tend to manage HRT for the female menopause, fertility treatment or polycyctic ovary syndrome (PCOS).
