Dr Titus Augustine

Dr Titus Augustine is a highly accomplished Consultant Transplant, Endocrine and General Surgeon who has dedicated his career to providing exceptional surgical care. He specialises in complex general surgery, endocrine procedures, and advanced transplantation. Throughout his career, Dr Augustine has held prominent leadership roles, including serving as a Clinical Director of Transplantation and being appointed as a Professor of Transplantation. His clinical practice is characterised by a commitment to patient-centred care, clinical innovation, and the development of pioneering surgical techniques that improve patient outcomes.

With a broad range of clinical interests, Dr Augustine is particularly renowned for his work in kidney and pancreas transplantation. He has been instrumental in developing and reviving major transplant programmes, introducing advanced keyhole techniques such as laparoscopic hand-assisted donor nephrectomy and laparoscopic adrenalectomy. Additionally, he has a specialised interest in thyroid and parathyroid surgery, as well as surgery for encapsulating peritoneal sclerosis (EPS), a rare and complex abdominal condition. His dedication to surgical excellence has helped establish national services and mentoring programmes to train fellow Consultant Surgeons in these intricate procedures.

Dr Augustine completed his initial medical training at a leading national institute of health sciences in Bangalore, India, where he earned his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) in 1984. He subsequently completed postgraduate training in surgery, obtaining his Master of Surgery (MS) in 1989. After relocating to the United Kingdom, he completed further surgical training and was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (FRCSEd) in General Surgery and Transplantation. Dr Augustine is an active member of several professional organisations, including the United Kingdom Pancreas Task Force, the British Transplantation Society Training Committee, the UK EPS Research Group, and the British Association of Endocrine and Thyroid Surgeons.
