Dr Savithiri Sivashankar

Dr Savithiri Sivashankar is a dedicated Consultant Paediatrician and Consultant Neonatologist who specialises in providing comprehensive medical care for neonates, infants, and children. With a clinical approach centred on young patients and their families, Dr Sivashankar delivers compassionate and high-quality care across both acute inpatient and outpatient settings. She works collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure that newborn infants and young children receive optimal medical management during vital stages of growth and development.

Her primary areas of clinical interest include Neonatology and Paediatric Cardiology, with specialised expertise in providing echocardiography (ECHO) services for both outpatient and inpatient paediatric populations. Throughout her career, Dr Sivashankar has taken a proactive role in developing vital clinical services, including establishing neonatal bereavement support systems and mortality governance frameworks to support families and improve care standards. She has also served as a Lead Clinician for regional neonatal transport services, facilitating critical care transfers for unwell newborns.

Dr Sivashankar obtained her primary medical qualification in India before moving to the United Kingdom to complete her postgraduate specialist paediatric training in the North West deanery. Demonstrating an enduring commitment to clinical education, she serves as a Course Director for the Neonatal Life Support Course under the Resuscitation Council UK. She has also served in key organisational leadership positions, including as a Clinical Director in Neonatology, contributing significantly to service development and clinical governance.
