About
Professor Jay Chatterjee is a Consultant Gynaecologist and Gynae-oncologist. His NHS practice is based at the Royal Surrey County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust where he offers all types of surgical gynaecological and gynaeoncological care. Professor Chatterjee is well known for his expertise in advanced open abdominal and laparoscopic surgery and is skilled in robotic surgery as well. He provides all benign gynaecological and surgical gynaeoncological care including fertility-preserving surgery for gynaecological cancers. He is an expert in his field and is a BSCCP accredited colposcopy trainer. He is also a proctor for robotic surgery and teaches collegues how to perform complex robotic surgeries.
Professor Chatterjee completed his PhD at Imperial College London where he investigated the involvement of an inhibitory T cell pathway in reducing the immune response in ovarian cancer. He is widely published in this area as well as clinical interventions that improve the outcomes of patients with gynaecological cancers. Professor Chatterjee does translational and clinical research into finding early biomarkers in gynaecological cancers as an effor to improve prevenative strategy and to help with better diagnosis and tretament of female genital cancers. He is also presently part of a team researching human uterine transplantation in the UK.
Within his practice, Professor Chatterjee takes a patient-centric approach to care and ensures the use of latest clinical techniques available in order to provide his patients with the best possible care.
