Mr Colin Hart

Mr Colin Hart is a leading consultant in General, Colorectal, and Emergency Surgery, based at the Royal Free Hospital and the Cleveland Clinic London.

He is adept at performing a wide variety of both keyhole and traditional open surgical procedures, including for the treatment of major abdominal and colorectal conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease, diverticular disease, and adhesions. He speciaises in the management of complex abdominal wall hernias, for which he is heading the service at the Royal Free London NHS Trust and the North Central London sector. Furthermore, Mr Hart is highly experienced in the assessment and management of sudden onset abdominal pain and has performed thousands of operations.

In addition to more complex procedures, Mr Hart is also experienced in managing minor complaints using novel but proven techniques. For example, he uses Transanal Haemorrhoidal Dearterialisation (THD) for the treatment of haemorrhoids and also treats skin lesions (including pilonidal disease) and performs excision and muscle biopsies.

His top priority is his patients' safety and ensuring that they are at the centre of all decisions made. He also places emphasis on helping patients recover quickly with as little disruption to their daily lives as possible.

Mr Hart studied Medicine at Leicester Medical School before undertaking training in London, securing the pan London Colorectal Fellowship at UCH. He holds a doctorate from the University of London and has been working as a Consultant since 2014. He is the Lead for Acute and General Surgery for the Royal Free Hospital.
