About

Mr Alex Woollard is a Consultant Plastic Surgeon with a sub-specialist focus in aesthetics, nerve regeneration, facial reanimation and microsurgical reconstruction (breast, skin cancer, sarcoma, lower limb, amputee). His NHS practice at the Royal Free London and the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore.

Privately he works at the Cleveland Clinic London and has clinic in Moorgate, Portland Place and the main hospital in Grosvenor Place. 

He co-founded ReLimb which offers a complete reconstruction service for amputees including osseo-integration, Targeted Muscle Reinnervation (TMR) and Regenerative Peripheral Nerve Interface (RPNI).

He graduated in Medicine from Southampton University in 2002 and also received a BSc in History of Medicine from the Wellcome Institute and University College London. He undertook his basic surgery training in London and has been a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England on the Specialist Register for Plastic Surgery since 2016. Following this, he undertook a microsurgical fellowship at the Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead. Mr Woollard was awarded a PhD from UCL and Harvard University in 2017, for his research into nerve regeneration.

Mr Woollard has received a number of awards including the Patton-Masser award from BAPRAS and the Stephan and Anna Galeski fellowship from the RCS, as well as grants from the Anton Jurgens and Roan Trusts. He is actively involved in research into nerve and muscle regeneration and is regularly invited to present his work both nationally and internationally.

He is member of the British Association of Plastic and Reconstructive (BAPRAS), the European Association of Plastic Surgeons (EURAPS), and the British Aesthetic Association of Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS). He is Chair of the Cosmetic Practice Standards Authority (CPSA), a trustee of the Joint Council for Cosmetic Practice (JCCP) and a specialist advisor for MHRA and NICE.
