Mr Jonathan Hardman

I am a Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon withover 15 years’ Consultant experience, based at Mid Cheshire NHS Foundation Trust. I specialise in laparoscopic general surgery, inguinal hernia surgery and colorectal surgery, including the treatment of bowel cancer.

I have a particular interest in open and laparoscopic (keyhole) inguinal hernia repair. I have performed more than 250
inguinal hernia repairs since 2021, including open and laparoscopic
procedures and unilateral, bilateral and recurrent hernia repairs.

I am the Lead Surgeon for Colorectal Services at my hospital and work closely within a multidisciplinary team to provide
high-quality and safe care for our patients. My colorectal practice includes laparoscopic and other minimally invasive treatments for conditions affecting the colon, rectum and anus, including bowel cancer, haemorrhoids and other causes of rectal bleeding.

I graduated from the University of Manchester in 1996 and completed my surgical training in the North West of England, becoming a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2007. I have an interest in research and surgical training and have presented my research at international meetings. I was awarded a Doctorate of Medicine (MD) from the University of Manchester in 2010.

I subsequently undertook a Royal College of Surgeons of England National Fellowship in Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgery, reflecting my specialist interest in minimally invasive surgery.

I have a high safety record for patients undergoing major bowel cancer surgery under my care, with my surgical outcomes independently published by the Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain and Ireland (ACPGBI).
