About Dr Simon Campbell
Dr Simon Campbell is an experienced Consultant Gastroenterologist and Bowel Cancer Colonoscopist. He mainly works within private practice in Cheshire, currently seeing private patients at The Capsule Clinic. He also practices in the NHS on specific bowel cancer screening programs. He is highly specialised in the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and is skilled in the most advanced endoscopy techniques.
Dr Campbell began his medical education at the University of Birmingham where he graduated in Medicine with honours in 1994. He then went on to develop skills by training in luminal gut problems within hospitals in Edinburgh, Oxford and Liverpool. He completed his MD at Edinburgh University in 2000. He was later appointed Consultant and Research Lead (IBD) at Manchester Royal Infirmary. Dr Campbell became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in 2013.
Dr Campbell is an active researcher with over 100 peer-reviewed publications and he currently holds the position of honorary senior lecturer at the University of Salford and the University of Manchester. He is a member of several well-respected institutions including the British Society of Gastroenterology and on the editorial board of Crohn's and Colitis UK.

I have very recently seen Dr Campbell and had the Endosign procedure. The entire process was incredibly easy. It was quickly and efficiently booked, and all information I received was very thorough. The procedure itself was very easy – it was quick and painless and there were no after effects at all. I thoroughly recommend this service
Explained everything very well the procedure I had was a capsule endoscopy because I was very anxious about having a normal endoscopy I was worrried about the procedure but put my mind at rest and was very friendly and relaxing.
I saw Dr Campbell for the first time in May 2025, after being very highly recommended from a previous Doctor. Dr Campbell was very thorough and kept me informed and at ease at all times. I have since had my procedures done and my follow up examination which turned out to be very successful, all my symptoms subsided after my first procedure and I am glad to say that no reoccurrence has been detected, thank you Dr Campbell and all your wonderful staff.
