About
Dr Simon Campbell, Consultant Gastroenterologist and Bowel cancer Colonoscopist, mainly works within private practice in Cheshire, however, he does work with the NHS on specific bowel cancer screening programs. He is highly specialised in the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and is highly skilled in the most advanced endoscopy techniques.
Dr Campbell began his medical education at the University of Birmingham where he graduated in Medicine with honours. He then went on the develop skills by training in luminal gut problems within hospitals in Edinburgh, Oxford and Liverpool. He was later appointed Consultant and Research Lead (IBD) at Manchester Royal Infirmary.
Dr Campbell is an active researcher with over 100 peer-reviewed publications and he currently holds the position of honorary senior lecturer at the University of Salford and the University of Manchester. He is a member of several well-respected institutions including the British Society of Gastroenterology and on the editorial board of Crohn's and Colitis UK. He has also been appointed a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians.

A cordial meeting; definition- friendly, yet formal and polite. This would be a partial description of meeting Dr Campbell, with the personal additions of courtesy , consideration, having a genial manner and with whom you could engage. Professionalism, knowledge and competence were most evident. A significant amount of time was offered. Enabling one to have faith in the procedure and in him.

As previously mentioned, Simon was extremely thorough throughout my appointments and procedure with him. He explained every detail, possible scenarios and next steps, with brilliant detail and transparency. I felt cared for and well looked after.

Simon is professional but approachable; if you are ill you appreciate honesty and integrity. Simon has that and is capable in delivering this in a caring manner. We need more Consultants like this!

Dr Campbell is very kind and compassionate from when I met for the initial consultation via video link to when I met him for my tests. He is extremely knowledgeable in his field and I felt in very safe hands with him. He is easy to talk to and explains things in language I understood. His expertise shines through and I would recommend him to anyone. I wouldn’t hesitate to travel 4 hours again to see Dr Campbell if I needed to.

It's hard to be gushing about ilieostomies but Dr Campbell found a way to introduce some humour (albeit wry) into the consultation without diminishing his professionalism.

Simon is an exceptional medical practitioner; he zeros in on any potential issues of concern, and quickly identifies any necessary interventions. All this is done with clear explanation, and compassion and reassurance as required.
