Are you David Woolf?
Dr David Woolf is a Consultant Clinical Oncologist at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust. He plans and delivers cutting edge radiotherapy to patients with Breast and Lung Cancer as well as those who have cancers that have spread to other parts of the body (Oligometastasis).
Dr Woolf has extensive experience in the use of Stereotactic Ablative Radiotherapy (SABR/SBRT) and is the lead at the Christie for this technique. With training in the USA, he is accredited in the use of proton beam radiotherapy and also delivers radiotherapy on the MR Linac.
In addition, Dr Woolf treats patients with drug therapies including chemotherapy, endocrine therapy and other targeted drug therapy (such as immunotherapy).
This combination of expertise allows Dr Woolf to work alongside experts from the wider multidisciplinary team including leading surgeons, physicians and radiologists to produce a comprehensive treatment plan for patients.
Patient feedback is that they appreciate Dr Woolf’s personable, honest and prompt approach to their care.
Dr Woolf undertook his Clinical Oncology training in London at the University College Hospital, The Royal Free Hospital and St Bartholomew’s Hospital. In addition, he has a Master’s Degree in Oncology from the Institute of Cancer Research and obtained a Doctorate of Medicine after research at Mount Vernon Cancer Centre.
Dr Woolf is involved in and leads international research including the award of a prestigious multi-million pound National Institute for Heath and Care Research (NIHR) grant to study lung radiotherapy and leading global research collaborations. He has authored over 40 research publications and over 70 national and international presentations. He is also involved in the professional training of Clinical Oncologists nationally through the Royal College of Radiologists.
Most of his spare time is taken up with his young family but outside of this he enjoys exercising regularly and reads widely.
