About Mr Andrew Pickersgill

Mr Andrew Pickersgill is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist practising in Manchester, with clinical interests in minimally invasive gynaecological surgery, endometriosis, pelvic pain and fertility. His work encompasses a range of gynaecological conditions, including heavy periods, fibroids, ovarian cysts, polycystic ovaries, prolapse and menopause.

Mr Pickersgill has a particular interest in laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery. His background in infertility and experience working within an IVF unit led to a further interest in keyhole surgery, particularly for patients with fertility problems. His practice also includes the investigation and treatment of infertility and IVF.

Teaching has formed a significant part of Mr Pickersgill's professional work. He teaches keyhole surgery at other hospitals and advanced keyhole surgery at the University of Surrey. He has written three textbooks for doctors in obstetrics and gynaecology, contributed to educational resources for patients and has several publications. He also lectures at local and national scientific meetings.

Mr Pickersgill is an incredible consultant, surgeon and human being. After many years of pelvic pain and a lack of a satisfactory diagnosis from my GP, I attended Mr Pickersgill’s clinic at the Alexandra Hospital and was instantly impressed by his level of knowledge and the genuine care and compassion he showed me as a patient. Within a very short space of time, Mr Pickersgill was able to provide me with diagnosis, which he explained clearly and in detail. Mr Pickersgill has since conducted my hysterectomy and he has ensured that I have been able to have the best recovery possible. I feel incredibly lucky to have been able to have been treated by Mr Pickersgill and that he listened to my concerns and helped me to become well. Thank you for everything you have done for me.

Mr Pickersgill is a very gentle, calm and personable doctor and, given I felt about 75% by day 5 post full hysterectomy, I think that he is also a remarkable surgeon. I feel very fortunate to have been in his care and I could not recommend him more

I cannot recommend Mr Pickersgill highly enough. I have complete trust in him and would not consider going anywhere else. He is caring, understanding and genuinely listens to me, always taking the time to make sure I feel heard and that the best possible course of treatment is being taken. Having been let down by other consultants in the past, finding someone I can trust so completely has meant a great deal to me. He has also helped resolve issues caused by previous surgery, which has made an enormous difference to my wellbeing. I feel incredibly fortunate to be under his care. I always feel that he has my best interests at heart. I would wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone looking for a consultant who is not only highly knowledgeable, but also genuinely caring and compassionate.

I have seen Mr Pickersgill for surgery to remove fibroids and then a hysterectomy some years later. Open surgery was the only option for me, but I always feel in safe hands with Mr Pickersgill and trust his judgement 100%. Everything went smoothly the first time I had surgery and the second. Aftercare was excellent too. I have also had appointments in relation to taking HRT. He listens and understands the issues women face when it comes to hormonal changes. He is very caring and very knowledgeable. I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending Mr Pickersgill. He provides an outstanding service.
