Dr Elizabeth Wraige

Dr Elizabeth Wraige is a Consultant Paediatric Neurologist who specialises in providing comprehensive medical care for infants, children, and young people. With a dedicated focus on broad paediatric neurology, she diagnoses and manages complex conditions affecting the brain, spinal cord, and peripheral nervous system. Her compassionate and patient-centred approach ensures that young patients and their families receive empathetic, clear, and structured clinical support throughout every stage of assessment and management.

In her clinical practice, Dr Wraige focuses extensively on paediatric neuromuscular disorders and cerebrovascular conditions. Her specific areas of clinical interest include spinal muscular atrophy, Duchenne muscular dystrophy, congenital myopathies, and peripheral neuropathies. She is highly experienced in administering advanced clinical therapies and disease-modifying treatments, including gene therapy, intrathecal nusinersen, and risdiplam, which significantly improve quality of life for children with muscle-wasting conditions.

Dr Wraige earned her Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from the University of Leeds before completing her Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery degree at King's College London. She qualified in medicine in 1990 and subsequently attained Membership of the Royal Colleges of Physicians in 1994. Dedicated to ongoing research and quality improvement, Dr Wraige actively participates in national clinical networks, including the SMA REACH and North Star networks, helping to establish best-practice clinical guidelines and advance paediatric neuroscience trials.
