Dr Anne Henderson

Anne is a highly experienced Consultant Gynaecologist and the Owner/Director of Gynae Expert (formerly The Amara Clinic) based in the centre of Royal Tunbridge Wells. This is an innovative specialist Women’s Health Clinic which provides bespoke care for most gynaecological problems with a particular emphasis on perimenopause, menopause and beyond. Anne also practices at No 25 Harley Street and KIMS Hospital in Kent.

Anne has extensive experience in women’s health and has been a consultant for 25 years. She undertook post-graduate research into menopause, PMS/PMDD and post-natal depression under Professor John Studd who was the pre-eminent world expert in this field during his career. Anne then spent several decades working in the NHS during which she set up one of the largest NHS menopause clinics in the South East. She is a British Menopause Society Accredited Specialist, a recognition currently held by around 200 practitioners in the UK, acknowledging the higher level of training, expertise, and ongoing clinical workload which this group of specialists undertake. Anne has been in full-time private practice since 2015 and has been based at Gynae Expert since 2022.

Anne believes in offering her patients a full spectrum of treatments to help manage their gynaecological concerns, including menopausal symptoms. This is the basis of her book, ‘Natural Menopause’, which was published in conjunction with Dorling Kindersley in 2021. The book highlights the ‘five pillars of care’ which Anne offers all her patients – herbal medicine, fitness, nutrition, mental wellbeing, and HRT. She has worked closely with an expert medical herbalist in Kent for the last 20 years: this collaboration has been highly successful and forms an integral part of her clinical Practice.

Anne is supported at Gynae Expert by a comprehensive team of Healthcare Practitioners: this includes GPs, phlebotomists, nurse practitioners and an expert Consultant Radiologist, and fellow Consultant colleagues who provide breast consultations and ultrasound imaging services. This enables the Clinic to provide a personalised and bespoke service to all patients.

Anne is heavily involved in training and education, which has been a passion for many decades. She has organised numerous workshops and seminars for both public and private sector employers. These include Fire & Rescue and Police Services nationwide as well as private companies such as Goldman Sachs and Unilever. She also has an extensive track record training fellow gynecologists, GPs, and practice nurses throughout the UK over the last two decades, which remains a key part of her current portfolio.

Anne is the Medical Advisor to BRCA Kent, which is one of the largest support groups for BRCA patients in the UK. Along with the BRCA Kent Team, Anne provides ongoing support and education and runs regular multidisciplinary education and update study days to support the members and their relatives. Anne has published in medical literature including peer-review journals such as the BMJ, The Lancet and the New England Journal of Medicine. She is also widely featured in mainstream, social and broadcast media, particularly regarding her menopause campaigning. She was also an inaugural member of the Menopause Mandate and provides regular support to the group. She has acted as Brand Ambassador and Medical Advisor to numerous companies including Time of the Month, Health and Her, TENA, Bayer and A Vogel.
